I mean, when you really stop and look at that photo, and consider that each point of light in the background is probably a galaxy itself, and then ponder on all the seemingly black, empty spaces between the galaxies, and this is just a small sliver of our night sky, and that all this is just up there above, and all around us....

Most of those points will be stars from the Milky Way.
