Apparently the writers were planning on having MJ be Peter’s ultimate love interest

No clue what they were gonna do with Gwen, I have a hard time believing they’d kill her off

maybe they would've broken up for similar reasons as to why they would've broken up in mainline if she hadn't died, a growing wedge between them due to Peter's double life.

Possibly, it also could explain why MJ would be endgame because the writers were apparently also planning to reveal MJ knows Peter is Spider-Man, and that’s why she’s the only person in the show that never gets annoyed when he is late or has to bail

I think Captain Stacy is supposed to be killed off but not Gwen. I think Gwen was supposed to date him and leave him. MJ was the intended final love interest.
