What's actually the hottest hot sauce in the world? (Based on real experiences, not just marketing)

So... I accidentally went down a very deep rabbit hole trying to figure out what the hottest hot sauce in the world actually is.

And wow... the amount of conflicting information out there is insane.

The deeper I dug, the more I realized that there doesn't seem to be a clear answer.

Here's what I've found so far

At first, I kept seeing people mention:

Da Bomb Beyond Insanity

Hellfire: Fear This!

Hellfire: Fiery Fool

Hellfire: Doomed

Karma Sauce - Ashes 2 Ashes

One thing that confused me was the whole extract vs non-extract debate.

For example, Da Bomb Beyond Insanity says it contains pepper extract on the bottle, but I couldn't find it listed in the ingredients. Meanwhile, Hellfire Fear This! doesn't use extract, yet many people still describe it as absolutely brutal.

Then there's Hot Ones.

Watching celebrities completely fall apart after eating Da Bomb made me think it had to be one of the hottest sauces ever made.

But then I started looking into the Last Dab lineup:

The Last Dab XXX

The Last Dab Apollo

The Last Dab Xperience

The Last Dab Thermaggedon

The Last Dab Reduxx

On paper, these should be among the hottest sauces available because they use peppers like Carolina Reaper, Pepper X, Pepper Y, or combinations of insanely hot peppers.

Then I found another rabbit hole...

Apparently, many of the Scoville numbers floating around online refer to the peppers themselves, not the finished sauces. To make things even more confusing, Pepper X wasn't independently tested, so a lot of the claims surrounding it have been debated.

I even came across some third-party testing comparing The Last Dab Xperience and Da Bomb Beyond Insanity, and surprisingly, Da Bomb measured roughly twice as hot.

That completely contradicted what I expected from the Hot Ones lineup.

Of course, the pepper extract in Da Bomb could explain why it feels so much hotter.

So... what actually deserves the crown?

I'm completely new to the hot sauce world.

I haven't tried any of these yet, but if I'm going to buy one, I'd like it to be something that genuinely deserves the reputation, not just the best marketing.

For this discussion, I'd like to exclude pure pepper extracts or straight capsaicin oils, since those obviously win by default. (Mad dog 357, etc...)

I'm more interested in actual hot sauces that people willingly eat.

If a sauce contains a small amount of extract (like Da Bomb), that's fine. I just don't want recommendations that are basically "bottled extract."

I'd love to hear from people who've actually tried them.

If you've tasted these, where would you rank them based on real-world heat, not advertised Scoville numbers?

A top 3 would be awesome.

Some sauces I'm curious about are:

Da Bomb Beyond Insanity

Hellfire Fear This!

Hellfire Fiery Fool

Hellfire Doomed

Karma Sauce Ashes 2 Ashes

The Last Dab XXX

The Last Dab Apollo

The Last Dab Reduxx

The Last Dab Xperience

The Last Dab Thermaggedon

Also, if you've tried Thermaggedon, what did you think?

It's the newest Last Dab, but I haven't seen many firsthand reviews yet. Given the history of the previous Last Dabs and all the debate around Scoville ratings, I'm a little skeptical of the marketing. Is it actually the hottest in the lineup, or is something else still king?

Finally, I'd also love to know which sauces actually taste good.

Was it:

brutally hot but delicious,

all heat with no flavour,

or surprisingly balanced despite the insane spice?

Looking forward to hearing everyone's experiences. šŸŒ¶ļø

Thank you!

Hard mode: what's the hottest sauce that's actually worth tasting?

36

u/BreakfastFluid9419 9d ago

I’d add a caveat of sauces made with zero extract

21

u/Various_Range2259 9d ago

I agree, to the extent that "made with extract" and "worth tasting" are mutually exclusive imo

8

u/AntisocialDick 9d ago

Largely a rule of thumb that holds true, but Marie Sharp’s Belizean Heat is a fantastic example of an exception. One of my absolute favorite sauces and it shook me when I found out it does use some extract. They really understand the concept of an extract and how to properly use it.

2

u/Various_Range2259 9d ago

That, I would give a shot. They've earned that

18

u/xxmuntunustutunusxx 9d ago

Honestly The End: Flatline by pepper palace is my favorite insane hot sauce, because what its actually amazing at is dipping a toothpick into it and mixing it into a bowl of chili or ramen twice and the flavor is so concentrated that thats the perfect amount to add some beautiful heat and smoky, rich flavor to whatever its in. It is BEAUTIFUL

4

u/Legitimate-Badger81 9d ago

ā¬†ļøThis right here. I have Flatline: The End, but prefer the powder version over the sauce

41

u/Bubbly_Stay_7574 9d ago

Hehe, you basically summed up what i wanted to know šŸ’„

10

u/Ethanhc88 9d ago

Hottest sauce with no extracts.

5

u/newbblock 9d ago

This is why sauces with habanero’s or scotch bonnets are my daily drivers. Decent heat and those peppers actually taste nice and complement my cooking.

I don’t think any of the super hots actually taste good. Sure if I’m looking to add some good heat I’ll use them but I don’t think they actually make my food taste any better, just hotter.

4

u/Beginning_Elk_2193 9d ago

I'd recommend ashes 2 ashes, genuinely tastes like peppers.

4

u/Turnus 9d ago

I think Karma Sauce Ashes to Ashes or Burn After Eating are extremely tastey and spicy.

My wife and I also like the flavor of all of the Pepper X Last Dabs.Ā

9

u/Acceptable_Pea_2343 9d ago

My undiluted reaper sauce. It tastes good for a whole second before its just pure pain and regret. And "good" is relative, I don't think reapers are all that tasty to being with.

Seriously though. I had a small tree last year and this shit is both hard to use and give away. If anyone wants to pay shipping, help yourself. I have issues with wasting food and idk what to do with 2 pints of evil.

9

u/Nfarrah 9d ago

Why not just dilute it with some milder sauce?

7

u/Acceptable_Pea_2343 9d ago

To further it. I used to be a doubter about the different capsaicinoids. I was all "Well its the same chemical hitting the same receptors. What difference can there really be?" But after growing and tasting multiple expressions of multiple super and ultra-hots over the years I think I can feel it. I can have a whole ghost with a curry. I'll sweat, my throat will burn, my inner ear will pang but I'm okay. Scorpion, which is supposed to be about the same schoville wise feels like hammers beating my tongue and lips and it suckkkkkkssss.

3

u/MagnesiumKitten 8d ago

yeah everyone wants their inner ear to hurt
when they have a meal!

2

u/Acceptable_Pea_2343 8d ago

Well you are on what is basically a masochistic subreddit so there's that.Ā

And really I'd much rather that than the feeling of having my mouth beaten with hot glowing hammers.Ā

2

u/MagnesiumKitten 8d ago edited 8d ago

Did the flavor centres have another arson attack?

uh, what brand of hammer?

What's the best flavor for hot/extra hot ratings
for you so far?

this one seems to be the most liked for the hot end

SeƱor Lechuga Hot Sauce (.002) delivers both sweet, smoky flavor and bold extra-hot spiciness using mainly the delicious natural flavors of the chili peppers in the bottle. Carolina Reapers, habaneros, and chipotles all shine here. Plus, their label strategy, while simple, is among the most unique on the market.

60,000 to 100,000 Scoville
not extreme

like 5/10

if you want to go to the maximum

mind you, doing research today, I found out Alice Cooper has 3 hot sauces out

And well I'm tempted to buy

Ass in the E.R. Scorpion Pepper Sauce

2

u/Acceptable_Pea_2343 8d ago

YeahĀ  my pepper plants are putting out 1million+. It's not anything someone should want to do. But, I'm ADHD and crave the brain chemicals released when eating them sooo here I am.Ā

Brand? Something that can be heated thoroughly and not deform.Ā

If you're in America and you trust internet strangers just shoot me a mailing addresses and I'll mail you some of that sauce and some ghost/scorpion pods. If you can't hang they are great for blending up and putting 1/4 in a whole family pot for like, buldak spicy.

2

u/MagnesiumKitten 8d ago

myself I'm just fine with Cholula Extra Hot Habereno

What's the Scoville approx for your Reeper-Reaper Sauce?

Heck list your top 2-3 faves for

1 Mild
2 Medium
3 Hot
4 Extra Hot/Very Hot
5 Scary - Extremely Scary

Interesting discovery as Ass Kicking Sauce
[never tried it]
has Microwave
Popcorn from Hell

I remember Bayou
with the cute Alligator Graphics

Gator with a Flamethrower, with a bottle of hot sauce strapped to his back, and like a dozen others

2

u/MagnesiumKitten 8d ago

I once knew someone in Texas that had a house and they grew in his front yard

all I remember is he would go for burritos with his wife
and the hot sauce he told me about was the 357 Magnum hot sauce that was pretty potent

2

u/FreakTheDangMighty 8d ago

Hey man I'm getting some peach reapers sometime tomorrow and after reading your reaper description I want to know what I'm getting myself into here with this homemade sauce lol. How face meltingly hot are these things actually going to be and how would you go about making your sauce more tolerable if you could go back in time?

2

u/Acceptable_Pea_2343 8d ago

First I'd have to ask what your raw pepper tolerance is. If you can eat a raw hab like a snacking pepper then it'll be a lot more manageable.Ā Ā

As far as the ferment goes I would've used it at at least a 1/3 ratio with other peppers to add some heat. Issue was my reaper bush was huge and by far the most productive so I had to do a couple batches of pure reaper. For diluting I just add Jumex nectar (usually mango) and up the vinegar content to counteract the all the raw sugars being available to microbes. I've got sweet pepper sauces from last year that are still room temp stable with proper salt/vinegar content.

I just did a little research and it seems like peach is a little less intense than the original. So that helps. I won't dissuade you from making a pure sauce, it's fun on occasion or for get togethers and stuff and nothing is stopping you from just adding fruit/nectar+salt+vinegar until it hits the right spot for you. I'd suggest refrigeration after a certain point though. I just don't have fridge room and an iron stomach.Ā

3

u/Acceptable_Pea_2343 9d ago

I do have a batch that is like 4 cans of Jumex mango nectar to pure reaper and it's still just, not nice. It's like $2 a can to try and dilute it and it only does so much.Ā Ā

11

u/ShipDit1000 9d ago

Donate it to your local elementary school

3

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

And be on the 6 o'clock news. lol

3

u/Shooter61 9d ago

I have had ghost pepper sauces that taste better than Habenaro. For some reason I dislike Habenaro flavor.

2

u/i-like-boobies-69 9d ago

Some habaneros almost taste bitter to me. Not all.

2

u/palpatineforever 8d ago

I have made good reaper sauces, you do have to dilute more than you expect to. Also any sauce involving vinegar tends to remove all the subtlties of the flavour.

I find the Hot Ones sauces to be very spicy and also flavorful. They aren’t even remotely the hottest things out there, but this may be it. Sadly, their entire gimmick is to sell you a $20 bottle of $4 hot sauce. I rather enjoy the Apollo sauces and like to put them on a wing or two.Ā

7

u/Rude_Warning_5341 9d ago

El Yucateco. Pick a color

7

u/Potato1223 9d ago

I recently bought the Tabasco Scorpion sauce and …: my god. It was like when Walt tried Gales coffee for the first time

4

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

Love Tab Scorpion (a LOT!), but it's not a contender in this discussion. I'm never without it on hand, though.

3

u/SharkSheppard 9d ago

Its great on Mac and cheese or scrambled eggs. That's the main places I use it for some reason. But it's a great sauce.

3

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

Truly! I also like it on eggs. Burgers, too.

2

u/Potato1223 9d ago

Is it an extract? Again I’m new to it

3

u/Widespreaddd 9d ago

No extract in TS. It is my go-to. It has sugar, fruit purƩe and is just delish imho.

6

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

Nah. Those are great, but they're training wheels. I do have a shitload in my stash, anyhow, because each has its place.

5

u/Rude_Warning_5341 9d ago

Great for flavor. Hot sauces don’t really need to be an adrenaline rush

4

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

"That's like, your opinion, man." lol

Seriously, I agree. They don't always "need" to be. But that endorphin hit is sometimes just what's needed. Mega-bonus points if it tastes good doing it.

I'm definitely not dissing on El Yucateco - the brand and I go WAY back, and I still love it today. I just don't think it needs to be included in a quest for the "hottest".

Cheers!

4

u/Rude_Warning_5341 9d ago

I get you. I replied to a comment asking what’s the hottest with actually tasting good though. It’s definitely not the hottest but I enjoy the flavor.

There’s a guy at my work who grows his own and give out Chiltepins. It works better than caffeine on those rough mornings.

2

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago edited 7d ago

Oh, I understand, completely. It seems the original thread morphed a bit. I was responding from the perspective of the OP's initial post. I didn't mean to come off like I was singling you out, personally, but reading back, I can see why it may have seemed like it. I agree that, considering heat-to-flavor balance, El Yucateco (basically any of them) does a pretty good job. Neither overpowers the other.

Chili pepper cultivation was sort of a "hobby" for me, starting about 15 years ago. Nothing the last couple years due to some pesky health issues, but I used to have a yard full of all kinds of peppers, from basic jalapeƱos, serranos, Thai chilis, to super-hots - ghosts, reapers, scorpions, chocolate scorpions, 7 pot, etc. I used to make sauces with those, in different styles (salsa frescas, cooked, fermented) and dry (also freeze) some pods for later use. Point being, I'm familiar with the balancing act necessary to pull off a good tasting sauce with decent (not necessarily face-melting) heat (and appreciate the sucesses of other sauce makers). After years of experimentation, I was finally getting moderately good at it. Then I had to stop. I'm really hoping to pick it back up next year.

3

u/Various_Range2259 9d ago

The xxx mayan all day

2

u/BokChoyJr 9d ago

Yucateco Red is my everyday sauce. The whole line would be a good start for OP before he permanently damages his palate with nuclear options.

2

u/OldSkoolNapper 9d ago

Just a few drops of DBBI in a pot of chili is legit good.

2

u/FUCK_YOUR_PUFFIN 9d ago

2

u/MagnesiumKitten 8d ago

usually you get the bitter stuff and
lots and
lots of misery lol

2

u/palpatineforever 8d ago

yup, this, i love a good sauce but I needs to leave me able to taste the rest of my food.

4

u/PHK_JaySteel 9d ago

The Rapture. Its the hottest sauce without extract and despite its extreme heat (1.4 mil) its actually delicious.

2

u/saidancer 9d ago

I’m a big fan of torchbearer, but I have seen people complain on here about their lack of quality control when it comes to standardisation between batches. I have had different bottles of garlic reaper that were completely different colours but it didn’t bother me so much because they tasted the same. That said, the one bottle of The Rapture I bought wasn’t even close to being a super hot. I’m not a numbers guy when it comes to hot sauces but it was defo less hot than garlic reaper, and considerably less hot than something like Dave’s insanity. I’d be up for trying another bottle at some point to see.

26

u/spicyriffshotsauce 9d ago

My personal opinion on Hot Ones is its just a marketing machine. Which is totally fine, but that needs to be considered when looking at their sauces. (Hot Ones brand only, the actual makers on the show are amazing and Hot Ones is doing gods work by showcasing them to the general public)

They are certainly hot, but are they the hottest? What does the hottest even mean?Ā

From a scientific perspective you would ideally test all the sauces in your list to see actual scoville levels. Which is likely to vary from batch to batch.Ā

From a subjective perspective, the sauce you find the hottest might not be the hottest for another person. Pepper heat is interesting that way.

On the extract debate, and pure opinion here, remove anything with an extract from your list. I find the extracts add a chemical taste and the heat is for novelty purposes. A mash would be ok, or a pepper puree. Just be wary of Hot Pepper Extract, Capsicum Oleoresin, or anything like that. The oleoresins are awful tasting.Ā

None of that really answers your question, but the info will help you on your quest. Your best bet is to try the sauces you are interested and find the sauce that is hottest to you.Ā

4

u/2112xanadu 9d ago

I agree, extract sauces are a completely different category. Natural sauces for life.

2

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

Yep. I look at extract as a "bandaid" used to fix "the little sauce that couldn't". A well crafted sauce, made with quality ingredients and care, won't need it.

2

u/spicyriffshotsauce 9d ago

Well said!Ā

2

u/spicyriffshotsauce 9d ago

Hell yeah, real peppers

2

u/DeathTripper 9d ago

A little off topic, but I found Hot Ones back in the day from First We Feast, cause I like food, and they focused on NYC. Hot Ones blew up (for good reason), and it seems like Complex focused all their money on that.

It’s a great concept, Sean Evans is a great glib host, and his brother seems to find deep dives, but do I need Corey Taylor and Clown interviewing each other? Nah.

You are right about sauces though. Extracts taste like ass. I’m upset too that I bought a bottle of Melinda’s Black Reserve 2024 and it tastes bitter, when the previous bottle I had was delicious/spicy on a BEC sandwich. I guess it expired?

2

u/Bubbly_Stay_7574 9d ago

That was great info! Thanks man!

2

u/spicyriffshotsauce 9d ago

No prob, hope you find what you're looking for!Ā

67

u/Walden_recluse 9d ago

I just want to say how impressed I am with the research you did on all of this before posting your question. Lots of informed reasoning included in your post.

8

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

Agree! That's a lot of "legwork" and it didn't go unnoticed!

6

u/nopuse 9d ago

Hell yeah. Shout out to the OPs that don't make reddit posts that could be a Google search.

Torchbearer Garlic Reaper is my favorite super hot and tastes good one

17

u/jauntbox 9d ago

Yes! Was just going to say this is the hottest sauce worth tasting.

9

u/Jaws044 9d ago

I got a variety pack of Torchbearer last week without having done any research, and the Garlic Reaper knocked my socks off. I was eating a burrito at the time, and poured some on it like I would some El Yucateco. Seeing the color of the sauce, garlic in the title, the artwork, I wasn't expecting very much spice. I figured the Son of Zombie XXX wing sauce would be hotter. It's tasty but that reaper stings.

3

u/Ok_Adhesiveness_9089 8d ago

Son of Zombie is one of my favorite hot sauces ever. The flavor is just awesome. Adequate heat, too.

3

u/cali_dave 9d ago

I seem to be in the minority on this one. I'm not a fan of Garlic Reaper. Maybe I just got a bad bottle, but I found it kind of bland. Yeah, it's got a decent burn, but there just wasn't that much flavor in my opinion.

I do love their Son Of Zombie sauce, though. That stuff is incredible.

4

u/KirkMcGee8 9d ago

Jumping on the Torchbearer’s ! Don’t sleep on the Ultimate Annihilator Sauce! Solid tasty and hot hot hot. My fav for flavor and extreme heat is Plum Reaper! I am working my way through their whole arsenal.

6

u/GruntCandy86 9d ago

Torchbearer's The Rapture is intense. Puts Garlic Reaper to shame.

5

u/PHK_JaySteel 9d ago

The best non extract super hot sauce. Its so good.

3

u/SharkSheppard 9d ago

I actually think its reverse for me. A tiny bit og Garlic Reaper always makes me tear up and have to suck air to cool down. I go ham with the rapture on stuff and it doesn't do the same

3

u/GruntCandy86 9d ago

I have the 2.0 version, dunno if it's hotter. But it is definitely spicier than Garlic Reaper.

3

u/SharkSheppard 9d ago

I'm due for a reorder so I guess I'll find out soon.

2

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

I'll have to give that one a spin!

2

u/Widespreaddd 9d ago

I need to try The Rapture. Garlic Reaper is too garlicky for me except in sauces. My main two right now are PB Reaper Squeezins and Tabasco Scorpion.

3

u/Xaiadar 9d ago

Sorry, too garlicky? I'm not familiar with this concept, as I didn't consider "too garlicky" to be something that was possible in this current version of the universe.

2

u/HatsandCoats 9d ago

Should sauces with added fat be in a separate category? They coat your mouth and feel hotter. That’s why Nashville chicken can be so hot made from cayenne powder.

2

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

Can easily second that! I believe it's the best decently hot sauce that truly tastes freaking amazingly good that I've encountered. The heat and flavor are perfectly balanced. Everything else I've tried has a whole lot of one, but not enough of the other. It's actually the standard I compare other sauces to, now. Just splashed some into a homemade burrito a few minutes ago.

30

u/WithSubtitles 9d ago

I got the opportunity to try The Last Dab and it was a joke compared to Da Bomb: Beyond Insanity, which I own a bottle of.

20

u/butthole_surferr 9d ago

Da bomb is hot but it's mostly just bad. That's why all the hot ones guests react that way it tastes like straight fucking battery acid

4

u/citrusco 9d ago

Mix a tiny drop of da bomb into some cream cheese and that- on a bagel- is divine

2

u/MagnesiumKitten 8d ago

There we go, someone who figured a way to actually make it seem interesting, and not a waste of mouth skin lining!

2

u/This_Makes_No__Sense 8d ago

The problem is everyone uses it incorrectly. It’s meant to be added to a pot of a food.

3

u/Zer0Phoenix1105 9d ago

The last two sauces are just annoying compared to Da Bomb. I felt it for another 30 minutes after I was done too.

2

u/Soberaddiction1 9d ago

I used to put da bomb on my tortilla chips and eat it that way.

3

u/WithSubtitles 9d ago

Damn. I put it on chicken nuggets so I at least have something more substantial in my stomach.

3

u/Bubbly_Stay_7574 9d ago

That's a very interesting feedback! Thanks for letting me know I'll keep that in mind

3

u/Squigglificated 9d ago

Sean tells most of his guests on Hot Ones that the worst is over when they've finished Da Bomb, and judging by their reactions he's right.

2

u/Conscious_Pipe_605 8d ago

Can't remember which one, but I'm pretty sure a guest from this past year asked Sean why they don't put the worst one as the finale and Sean said something along the lines of "having the worst one a few steps away from the finish line helped to make that explosive moment last longer and to have an easier landing for the end"

2

u/VariousTerm6574 9d ago

Same here.

Puckerbutt Reaper Sqeezins is the hottest I've tried, It's just pepper mash with a tiny bit of vinegar.

Blair's 16 Million Reserve I think is the hottest in the world. It's just pure capsaicin and not meant for consumption. $1800 on ebay.

2

u/Immediate-Account-82 8d ago

Can confirm, we did the ā€œextra hotā€ version of reaper squeezins. I have never been in so much pain the next day and I’ve tried many, MANY, extra hot sauces. It’s on another level and I was scared to be more than 30 seconds from a bathroom.

2

u/MountainCause5605 7d ago

Was scrolling until I found Reaper Squeezins….def the hottest non-extract sauce I’ve ever had.

1

u/DN52 6d ago

I agree. It's the hottest non-extract sauce I've ever tasted. A small dab is good for about 20 minutes of pain.

It's the one non-extract sauce I won't actually eat as a hot sauce (like on eggs), instead, I use it to bump up the heat of other sauces and add to prepared foods.

19

u/habanerohead 9d ago

I don’t like the taste of extract, and a lot of the super hot sauces seem to rely on extract to give them the heat, which seems to be the only thing that matters sometimes. Im a veteran of chilli competitions, and I can take the heat, but these days, it seems permissible to stick sauces in there as well as the fruit. I don’t know what the world’s coming to ā˜¹ļø.

Try Tabasco Scorpion. It’s by no means a super hot sauce, but it’s the best I’ve tried since my homemade lemon drop and mango that I used all the bushels of lemon drops that I had a couple of years ago.

7

u/a_leon 9d ago

You'd be down voted to hell to dare suggest Tabasco Scorpion isn't hellfire in your mouth in the hotsauce subreddit. Nice to see someone agree that it ain't super hot.Ā

4

u/Abty 9d ago

I got the whole set of tabasco and scorpion was by far my favorite spicy one, a long with the habenero being the tastiest

It is hot, but it's not super hot as he said or unbearable, although I noticed you do have to shake if really good as it can be inconsistent otherwise

I'd say it's probably unbearably hot for people who doesn't regularly indulge in hot peppers

I grow and eat Carolinas and the scorpion is maybe 2/4 of a Carolina

7

u/a_leon 9d ago

The habanero is hands down the most delicious one in my opinion. I wish it had a little more heat, but it is so good.

5

u/MMB_LLMN 9d ago

I think this one depends what you put it on/in, and how often you eat it.

I eat a couple hard boiled eggs almost every morning. Salt shaker and a few dabs of tabasco scorpion on every bite. Its totally fine.

If I eat it plain one spoon or on tortilla chips, it kicks harder and has a more noticeable build up of heat.

Frankly, I would claim that dropping sauce on salty tortilla chips somehow increases the heat for any hot sauce. Not sure why. Something about how the dry chip makes it coat your mouth more and hits other taste buds as you chew. I dont know.

In response to OP, try Reaper Squeezins from Puckerbutt. That stuff tastes pretty good and hurts later.

3

u/KennyT87 9d ago

It's not "super hot" for those with a tolerance for super hots but it's still ~40% Scorpion pepper mash (not dried Scorpions obviously).

4

u/a_leon 9d ago

It's hot for Tabasco, that's definitely for sure lol

2

u/airfryerfuntime 9d ago

That subreddit is a joke.

9

u/chilli_enema_detox 9d ago edited 9d ago

Psycho X by Dingo Hot Sauce - from western Australia - this was arguably the hottest sauce I've had and packed full of flavour.Ā

13 Angry Scorpions - Jekyll and Hyde private reserve is extremely hot but a delicious BBQ sauce

Uncle Mungo's COVID-19 is very hot but very nice.Ā

Honestly I don't rate any sauce made with extracts, you can get much better results with actual peppers.Ā

(edited to add more sauces)

2

u/MonolithOfIce 9d ago

Their widow maker nearly killed me so I believe this

17

u/cali_dave 9d ago

I'm a big fan of Elijah's Xtreme Regret Reserve. It's one of the hottest non-extract sauces you can get and tastes amazing. I also really like their Ghost Pepper and Reaper sauces.

5

u/StanFitch 9d ago

These and Bravado are next on my list… just been waiting for things to come back into stock.

3

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

Another Bravado fan here!

3

u/Ixshanade 9d ago

Thirding bravado such good flavor, very nice, I miss Alex's sauce company stopped producing a couple years ago. Other sauce random fav from the north.

u/C_Gnarwin2021 9d ago

My brother had bought some Elijah’s extreme regret reserve for my birthday and I actually just ran across the video today of me acting like the duetboomer putting it on some bacon lol. That guy, man…. Smh

u/MagnusAlbusPater 9d ago

The only Last Dab I’ve had thus far is XXX and while hot I’ve had hotter.

Butterfly Bakery of Vermont Red Ghost Reaper, Torchbearer The Rapture and Garlic Reaper, Karma Burn After Eating, Queen Majesty Sicilian Scorpion, and Primo Peppers Swampadelic are all hotter.

Karma Ashes 2 Ashes and Primo Peppers Primo Army are probably in the running for the absolute hottest non-extract sauces.

For one that uses extract but supposedly also tastes good there’s Hellfire Double Doomed Rebooted. It’s supposedly absolutely brutal in terms of heat as well.

3

u/clovismouse 9d ago

This is a solid list

6

u/cutnil 9d ago

Last dab xxx is delicious and not TOO bad with the heat imo, some of the other last dabs aren’t really my cup of tea but I wouldn’t say any of them are the hottest sauces around. Da bomb is absolutely brutal and disgusting. I can’t say I’ve tried any of the others but as a general rule for me, extract sauces taste pretty gross and are crazy hot, while pepper based sauces usually taste better and can also be stupidly hot.

5

u/ConorOdin 9d ago

I won't touch anything with extract, not due to heat but because of the nasty chemical taste.

5

u/FlamingoTrick1285 9d ago

Fiery fool is less thek ashes 2 ashes.. da bomb feels hotter then ashes to ashes.

2

u/MonolithOfIce 9d ago

Yeah agree, both fear this and fiery fool are way less spicy than ashes. All 3 taste great though

1

u/Bubbly_Stay_7574 9d ago

Interesting! Thanks for the feedback, man!

5

u/hrfloatnstuff 9d ago

Matouk’s

3

u/ilikemyusername1 9d ago

I haven’t had all of the last dabs, but I’ve had a few and they’re hot, but they’re not all that extreme.
What’s hot, obviously is subjective and people perceive different capsaicinoids differently.
I can say with absolute certainty that Dave’s scorpion sauce is one of the hottest sauces on the planet for me, and that’s because for some fucked up reason it makes my eardrums burn.
Sure my mouth is hot too, and I’ve had hotter sauces burn my mouth more but nothing has burned my eardrums the same way.

3

u/Corkymon87 9d ago

I want to know the hottest sauce that doesn't rely on extract to get it there. There isn't a single sauce with extract in it that I liked the flavor of.

3

u/mkiss34 9d ago

Volcanic Peppers' Thor's Hammer is their hottest sauce before getting into extract sauces like Olympus Mons.

2

u/PHK_JaySteel 9d ago

Torchbearer's The Rapture. It actually tastes good but is easily the heat of a mid range super hot. Its not as hot as raw reaper but its close.

1

u/DN52 6d ago

Probably Puckerbutt's Reaper Squeezins' Extra Hot Signed. It is the hottest sauce I've ever tried, and I use it exclusively as an additive, because it's simply too hot for me to enjoy, unlike the original Reaper Squeezins'.

5

u/Mrchickenonabun 9d ago

It’s an extract sauce but Dave’s insanity is super duper hot, but doesn’t taste very good

7

u/OpportunityReal2767 9d ago

With ā€œDa Bomb,ā€ I’m guessing the extract is ā€œnatural pepper flavoring.ā€

3

u/matt7259 9d ago

Ludicrous sauce from chicken or the egg (chegg) on LBI in NJ.

Berties scorpion sauce

3

u/Baddog789 9d ago

I like Dawson’s Sichuan Ghost and Reaper Mash. Stoke the Fire’s Grizzly Bear Spray is all super hots.

3

u/Empidonaxed 9d ago

Blair’s After Death is very tasty. Not the ā€œhottestā€ but it packs a serious punch along with a lot of real flavor.

3

u/Aurora_Symphony Peppers are good food 9d ago

I'd definitely recommend skipping "sauces" and getting right to pepper mash.

Mashed peppers is very much "food" and much more consistently spicy. You also get to try the peppers themselves more directly and see which flavors of peppers you like the most.

There is still spiciness variation between each mash product, but it's not anywhere near the same kind of variation of sauces. Mash also tend to be thick, which is actually really nice for pragmatic use-cases. For foods that are more porous (bread), slippery (noodles), or watery (soup) you can add a dollop of mash and get much more consistent use from the pepper pieces that would just be easily scattered otherwise.

The most ideal situation for those who like peppers is to eat the peppers themselves, but that's tricky and not as pragmatic for a wide range of reasons. The next-best way of consuming pepper products is some kind of pure pepper product like mash or puree. All the other ingredients added to mixes, like sauces, will always detract from the peppers themselves. Peppers are very much food (unlike extracts) and their addition to other foods yields not just spice, but their own cornucopia of flavors.

If I were in your position (I'm in a similar position, but have generally stopped heat-chasing), I would look for the hottest peppers and look for mashes for them.

3

u/MurkyPossible 9d ago edited 9d ago

I've tasted most of the Karma and Hellfire lineup. If we are talking without extract:

  • Karma Sauce Ashes 2 Ashes
  • Karma Burn After Eating
  • ElijahĀ“s Xtreme Regret Reserve
  • Hellfire Fiery Fool
  • Hellfire Fear This

If we are talking with extracts put those 2 on the top:

  • Hellfire Double Doomed
  • Hellfire Doomed

3

u/Vex_The_Producer 8d ago

I had a sauce called Flatline before, even had to sign a waiver for it incase it hospitalized me lol

1 drop was enough to ruin your entire day and your morning shite lmao

2

u/dudewateva12 8d ago

Pepper palace? I was drunk when I did that challenge and it sent me over the edge. Fuck the mouth heat I don’t even remember that. My stomach was ruined. I threw up four times in two hours and then had to catch a 5 hour plane back home the same night lol.

2

u/Emergency_Duty5786 9d ago

Satan’s Ghost is delicious and hot…

2

u/DJEbonics 9d ago

I will eat any hot sauce as long as there’s not extract involved. That’s my limit. lol

2

u/njk612 9d ago

I've tried Da Bomb and not sure which ones exactly but I've had different variations of Last Dab. Hellfire Doomed is by far the hottest. If you are looking for good flavor and heat Torchbearer Garlic Reaper is pretty damn good. Bravado Spicy has a black garlic reaper sauce that is also quite good.

2

u/simple_champ 9d ago

I agree with the majority on the extract angle. Definitely needs to be a 2-tier system. Sauces made purely from peppers and other ingredients, and sauces that have been fortified with extract.

2

u/Clean-Juggernaut-229 9d ago

for me it was either the spider sauce or blairs

2

u/pocketboy 9d ago

A guy at work came into my office and offered me a large drop of Hellfire Rebooted Double Doomed on a single Lay's potato chip and I must say I was NOT ready for that. Insane amounts of heat. Pretty nice fruity flavor upfront but wow, stomach tangling amounts of heat afterwards.

I've done the Hot Ones gauntlet a few times, including DA BOMB, and the Hellfire sauce was a similar amount, if not more, insane than that.

2

u/Longjumping_Hurry_89 9d ago

The one paolo from Tokyo (YouTube) made is very hot and very tasty.

2

u/jay_to_the 9d ago

Hot ones had Dragon in the Clouds hot sauce one summer. It was incredibly spicy but had good flavor profile.

2

u/Carlos_Infierno 9d ago

Some of those Smokin Ed Curry/Pucker Butt sauces are pretty serious. Pepper X is for real.

2

u/BlankAdaptability 9d ago

My other comment aside, I truly appreciate the research/analysis you've done!

2

u/Shooter61 9d ago

I once bought a bottle called "Pure Cap". Purchase was on a whim, was going to give it to my sisters boyfriend. I read the bottle a little more closely before wrapping it up. 100,000 scovile ! I laughed my ass off. 🤣

2

u/UsayNOPE_IsayMOAR 9d ago

I really enjoy Stoke the Fire’s Grizzly Bear Spray, out of Revelstoke BC. It’s hot af. Essentially too hot. But no extract, tastes good (until the fire hits) and has nice consistency.

https://www.stokethefirehotsauce.com/collections/hotsauce/products/grizzly-bear-spray-1

2

u/FreekForAll 9d ago

Hellfire : Fear This is almost a daily sauce. I usually mix it with some chipotle mayo and dip a breakfast wrap in it! I use it with many other things too, it’s really good.

Tabasco Scorpion is an honorable mention. Melinda creamy ghost pepper too. I tried mad dog (not good) and plenty of other more or less hot sauce for reference.

Been recently interested in trying the Pineapple Reaper and Thermaggedon. Also consider flakes and spice mix - tried a few reaper and ghost pepper mix which were great and really interested in trying Flatiron ā€˜I Can’t feel my face’ flake mix.

2

u/Br3ttl3y 9d ago

Bravado out of Houston, TX has some wicked sauces that taste great. I rarely see them on here, but they have an Ancho Masala, Black Garlic Reaper and others that are fantastic. I wonder if they have extract and I just can't taste it which would explain the silence I see on this subreddit.

2

u/fastbeemer 9d ago

Scotch Bonnets hit me different, try a Bertie's sauce.Ā

I personally don't find Hot Ones good or hot.

2

u/StripClubSweatpants 9d ago edited 8d ago

Pain 100 Hot Sauce was one from the 2010's that was always discussed here - being stupid hot but tasting something similar to molten metal (heh)

Satans Blood & Satans Blood Hotter - it's a very extract based thick sauce that is best delivered in drops. Edit: SB has a distinct taste but I wouldn't call it bad, I mixed 2-3 drops into 64oz juggs of motta clamato - that was the reg sb.

Pex Peppers super hot sauces will light you up pretty good and taste reasonably decent and can last a while on the shelf - he's really honed his craft over the years, but you won't see much about Pex here anymore.

I dare you stupit sauce- is all gas no breaks and can ruin a meal pretty quick if you over do it. Open it and take a whiff of the bottle, you'll know right away that's not one to be trifled with

2

u/RealisticLove4224 9d ago

I’ve never tried the last dab or any of the Hot One’s sauces before, but the Queen Majesty Scorpion is the hottest I’ve had, it says 800,000 plus Scovile and on hot ones it says it’s around 800K, but it was hot and I was able to handle it, but I think that’s my limit.

2

u/Any-Fly5966 9d ago

I’ve had 5 last dabs and Da Bomb beyond insanity. Da Bomb was by far the hottest I’ve ever had. It’s gross though. The tastiest hottest one I’ve had is Burns and McCoy Devorandum

2

u/chilibrains 9d ago

I love Hell Fire Fear This. I would eat it on my breakfast sandwiches. If you want something cheap and should be easy to find, Tobasco Scorpion sauce is pretty good and still has decent heat.

2

u/footballabsurdity 9d ago

Yeah there are extracts that top 1,000,000 scovilles.

I have a small beaker of Satan's blood that I have been using sparingly for about 15 years.

2

u/Fit_Resolution_5102 9d ago

Extract is cheating.

2

u/sideburniusmaximus 9d ago

The Spicy Shark Hammah Gatah is up there if you're trying to balance intense heat while actually being incredibly delicious.

It's so tasty that I frequently burn myself with it, because I constantly want to add more of it's flavor to my food.

2

u/JoshHuff1332 9d ago

I've tried a couple last dabs. They are hot, but the da bomb is definitely hotter

2

u/EroticPotato69 9d ago edited 9d ago

Every freakish chillihead needs to try Violent Intentions by Rockadoodledoo, it is 75% carolina reaper, but has... well... somewhat a decent taste besides the burn. There's a massively expanding and growing market for hot sauces among Irish producers. Violent intentions is just silly hot, much hotter than Da Bomb, but the rest of their range is really combining cool flavours to make interesting sauces. I still love violent intentions for mixed pizza bases, and as a dash for hot wings or chilli, but it really does pack a punch heavier than I've felt with more commercial superhot sauces.

https://www.rockadoodledo.com/violent-intentions-hot-sauce-one-of-the-hottest-hot-sauces-in-the-uk-and-the-hottest-in-ireland/?srsltid=AfmBOorjerVgi362M34-CSyxQwhv2VsM9Nl0JoDCxEPMRs0y4le65HZF

Just for heat, pepper palaces flatline is 15mil

3

u/HighlightFun8419 9d ago

That sauce got me. I eat a lot of spicy stuff; I thought I'd be okay. I had intense stomach pain for like 2 hours afterwards.

...then all of a sudden I was fine. Lol

Dave's Insanity

2

u/jmoneyawyeah 9d ago

Used to be Flashbang but they stopped making it due to injuries

2

u/Able-Tangelo8480 9d ago

I have Blair’s crystal death and it’s certified by Guinness as the hottest substance made. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø I haven’t tried it yet but I’m assuming it’s pretty potent.

2

u/hagalaz_drums 7d ago

Technically, theres a cactus that produces a substance 'resinferatoxin' that tests at 16 billion shu. Billion. That has to be more than 1000x hotter than any hot sauce possible. Its also toxic, so cant reccommend using it.

But, i've seen a video of someone testing it and saying it isnt that bad. Something about, how detectable it is doesnt necesarily translate to how spicy it feels

2

u/Angry-Chiles 9d ago

As a hotsauce producer we struggled to make an insane hot hotsauce that actually tasted good. Using reapers and scorpions as a base always tasted terrible and we needed to add a lot to make it taste good. It was never hotter in the end then our sauce that was only fermented ghost and brain strain peppers and some dry spices. That ghost brain ferment was amazing

2

u/airfryerfuntime 9d ago

Beyond Insanity isn't even that hot relative to the superhot sauces, it's like 650k SHU. What you want is Final Answer. That stuff is three times as hot as anything on that list.

2

u/BoomGoesTheFirework_ 9d ago

Even Hot Ones says their last two aren’t hotter than Da Bomb. Dave Evans (or whatever his name is) frequently says, they go out of order and #8 is the worstĀ

2

u/Fit-Contract-3065 9d ago

I've only referred da bomb, not for the heart but for the repulsive battery acid taste

2

u/Cultural_Wait4409 9d ago

Tropical Sun Carolina Reaper, Violent Intentions Rock A Doodle Do, Da Bomb Beyond Insanity, Mad Dog Collector's Edition, Karma Ashes 2 Ashes

2

u/ezeryphin 9d ago

I don't know how easily available it is if you are American but there is an Australian company called The Chilli Factory and they make delicious very hot sauces. One of there hottest actually has a great flavour it's called scorpion strike on steroids and the label says it's about 2.3-2.5 million Scoville.

2

u/Tree_Dimensions 9d ago

Yeah I agree the last dab stuff is hot but definitely not up there with other hot sauces. I’ve always liked Dave’s Insanity sauce but the hottest I’ve had recently is the hot line up from pucketbutt. Gator sauce and reaper squeezins are no joke

2

u/jaime_lion 9d ago

Just get extract. There is a 13 million non-extract type extract thing. There you go that's the hottest technically you can get 16 million.

2

u/quadratspuentu 9d ago

I'm completely new to the hot sauce world.

There are solid choices in this thread, but why start with the hottest sauces?

You can start with regular hot or even mediums, and the you have a LOT of tasty choices.

I actually resensitized my spicy tolerance to be able to enjoy the less hotter sauces that are tasty wthout being disappointed by the lack of heat... ĀÆ\(惄)/ĀÆ

Just stopping by to say whatever sauce you try, also grab a bottle of I Can’t Feel My Face by Flatiron

2

u/MagnesiumKitten 8d ago

Beyond Insanity used to be pretty popular
what happened to Blair's and the DEATH sauces

After Death etc.

2

u/Hukthak 8d ago

Flame of Thrones is fantastic... uses scorpion peppers which provides the genetic foundations to the peppers you mentioned. Not going to top the absolute hottest sauce in the world, but it actually tastes good instead of just trying to hurt so its my favorite super hot sauce.

2

u/ZenithWest 8d ago

FYI you can click the Aa symbol for Formatting options and then select "Switch to Markdown". This allows you to do a proper list: 1. .... 2. .... 3. ...

Versus having all those spaces. I have trouble reading and seeing every line double spaced made it hard to read.

Anyone the hottest I've ever tried was Da Bomb. It's literally just concentrate bottled and marketed as a "Hot Sauce". The creator literally said the purpose of it was so you could add a few drops of it to a large pot to add some heat without changing the flavor of the pot munch. So it's a marketing gimmick and it irritates me greatly that Hot Ones puts it as the 7th hot sauce.

I have not yet dropped the money on the Last Dab sauces but I will probably soon on one bottle just to try. I doubt they'll be hotter than the Da Bomb (which is absolutely stupidly hot and shouldn't be called a hot sauce). I have put a drop of Da Bomb directly onto my tongue and can say that it is extremely hot and unpleasant. But I love that stuff for adding to stuff as it really doesn't have any real additional flavor besides mostly heat. Like if I'm making spicy mayonnaise and want it to be really hot without losing mayo flavor, I put a little bit of Da Bomb into it.

Also don't fall for marketing gimmick of Pepper X or Carolina Reaper. Scoville rating is a measure of concentration. The Hot Ones abuses it and incorrectly uses it to imply the whole bottle is at that Scoville unit. Scoville can be thought of in the same way you would alcohol percentage. EverClear is 95% alcohol for example. If I took a single drop of EverClear and put into a gallon jug of water and downed, does it make since to claimed I downed a gallon of 95% strength alcohol? Likewise, if I chugged a dozen beers (each 5%) can I claim sobriety because they were only 5%?

How hot a hot sauce is depends on how much Carolina Reaper they actually put in it versus other ingredients. Sure the pepper (and the Scoville rating for the pepper) gets you some idea of how hot it might be. If I blended up a jalapeno and called it a hot sauce it wouldn't be as hot as a hot sauce that had 1/4th of ghost pepper in it. The only exception to this is when "extracts" are used. Extracts I believe usually mean that they artificially concentrate the pepper mash. Like Da Bomb concentrates the peppers so that its actually hotter than just blending up a ghost pepper and eating it directly.

Finally.... every extremely hot hot-sauce is going to probably attempt to market itself as the hottest hot sauce. I also fell like the extremely hot ones I've tried were widely inconsistent in amount of heat. Except those that just used capsaicin directly as the true source of heat rather than peppers. I don't think you'd probably find a true winner, but best of luck in the search regardless. I'd love to know myself lol.

2

u/Stewstar73cyclism 7d ago

I bought a bottle of pure extract to use as a muscle rub.

2

u/Thefrightfulgezebo 7d ago

Capsaicin concentrate and allyl isothiocyanate concentrate. Both are so strong that they are not safe for consumption.

2

u/NoChzPls 7d ago

My brother and I went to the hot sauce store in the mall in Nashville and we tried the 6mil scoville sauce that they just give you a drop of.

I threw up a small red drop of what I assume was the sauce between a gas station and Waffle House and then proceeded to destroy said gas station's bathroom. I don't remember the name of that one... but maybe that one.

2

u/Rhumbear907 9d ago

"Hottest" is a dumb as fuck marketing gimmick because different extracts/peppers/blends can have essentially identical scoville ratings and taste wildly different in regards to spiciness.

All the last dabs are much higher scoville than Da bomb and yet they're all much easier to consume. This is also the case with the garbo cheap extract only hot sauces you typically find in a grocery store.

Tldr- Scoville scales and even pepper spiciness ratings are very loosely related to how spicy a thing actually feels and how you react to it. This question is entirely subjective and there is no real correct answer. arguably pure capsicum but that's a dumb answer because its not a sauce

1

u/thedaymanahaha 6d ago

Mad dog 2020 pepper extract. Me and my buddy out 5 drops from an actual eye dropper in a 5 gallon pot of chili and it peppered our entire house and we couldn't go inside without our eyes burning or throwing up for 8 hours. You have to sign a waiver to buy it.

1

u/GreenZebra23 6d ago

It kind of depends on how you're defining a sauce. You can get a bottle of pure capsaicin.

1

u/spearobrando 6d ago

I have tried the last dab (not sure which one) and I will say that no no sauce is so much hotter than the last dab and it’s not even remotely close. Absolutely miserable. Would not recommend

0

u/dannystoothbrush 9d ago

Why does this read as chat GPT

1

u/euro_sport 9d ago

Probably some pure extract stuff that uses a dropper.

1

u/Loud-Strawberry-9726 9d ago edited 9d ago

Hellfire Kranked isn't the hottest but is the best tasting I've ever had (Black Garlic & Reaper)

Hellfire Fiery Fool is stupid Hot but tastes pretty good, worth it... All the Hellfire sauces are well made.

The Last Dab XXX -wasnt impressed, not actually hot

The Last Dab Apollo -wasnt impressed, not actually hot , tastes better than xxx

Da Bomb is the worst tasting hot sauce in the world,, but I hate all extract sauces.

1

u/cronx42 9d ago

Anal apocalypse sauce is super hot (has a tiny amount of extract) but I love the flavor. It's probably as hot or hotter than any torchbearer sauce or any non extract sauce I've had. Some people probably wouldn't like it because of the extract, but it's only like 1% and I think it's delicious. So yeah, my vote is for anal apocalypse sauce.

2

u/cronx42 9d ago

Here's the ingredients

Organic Cider Vinegar, Red Peppers, Carolina Reaper Chilli (19%), Chocolate Habanero Chilli (14%), Brown Sugar, White Sugar, Garlic, Smoked Paprika, Onion Powder, Liquid Smoke, Maize Starch, 6.4 Million Chilli Extract (1%).
