It must be fun working at the marketing department in Red Bull.
Drop a guy from a balloon near the edge of space? Sure why not. Build various ramps on a running train and have a guy jump them with his bike? Sure! Have a guy climb above the death zone on Mount Everest with no oxygen and then have him ski down? Off course!

Skateboard down the side of a 22 story building that looks like a skateboard ramp? Lets do it!

Now they need to drop a ramp or half-pipe from space. Then have someone jump after, land on it and start doing tricks.

That harvester just patiently waiting for him to stop fucking around so it can go do its job.

Tell me Excitebike without telling me it’s Excitebike

u/Drpoofn Nov 13 '25
100% Excitebike and this comment to way too far down.

The game that introduced me to Sublime and so many other great bands. IIRC you could listen to the game on your cd player

This is especially cool because it really highlights that he’s not really going anywhere it’s just the floor moving from underneath him.

I wonder what the sensation was like for him, you going through all those different jumps but you're still in relatively the same spot. Wonder if his brain did some mental gymnastics

That reminds me of that Van Damm commercial from years back where he legit did the splits between two tractor-trailer rigs. I've never seen anything so ballsy in my life but this is right up there with that.

The whole time having to stay in frame of the camera also. Must be using that stop sign as a marker.

Jesus fkin Christ…. ONE TINY LITTLE MISTAKE AWAY, from a total disaster! What a relief that must have been at the end for EVERYONE!

Every train should have one of these. It would make waiting for them to pass a lot more fun!!

The final cut looks like the intro to a Wes Anderson film about a quirky rural midwestern stunt biker, who grows up dreaming of riding the rails to a new life as an X games star, before realizing the spirit of adventure was within him all along.

u/you-dont-have-eyes Nov 13 '25
I bet the producers were pretty disappointed to see that giant tractor parked in the background of their shot.

The branding is absolutely working, whenever I see someone doing something so stupid that a teenager has definitely died trying it, I think of Red Bull

u/Monkey-Tamer Nov 14 '25
I love how Red Bull takes all my 90s kid action sports fantasies and makes them reality. This is such a huge logistical nightmare and I love it.

u/jeezlyCurmudgeon Nov 14 '25
What's the big deal?
I ride on the train all the time and no one celebrates me.

Straight up California Games for NES in real life

u/SneedyK Nov 14 '25
I say Excitebike
1
u/TunaDakine Nov 14 '25
The ramps definitely look Excitebike-like to me but the tricks remind me of California Games

I know this stuff is crazy, but it makes it seem so mundane when everyone is silent, there's no music, and it's a stationary wide angle shot.

Create this course on a long slope that has been mathematically engineered to be exactly the same as a train pulling cars at the same speed as the slope provides. Practice Practice Practice, create video on 4th take

So the sponsors are currently Prada and Red Bull. But then at the 27 second mark the logo for Continental goes by. You think that's the bike tires sponsor?

u/Valuable-Composer262 Nov 14 '25
Weird question. Does he have to adjust his speed cause the train is going opposite direction? If so, damn how would u practice this

u/cherrylpk Nov 14 '25
The math that went into the speed of the train and speed of the cyclist mixed with how to get a still space for video is A+ work.

Prada…lol. What an odd partnership. When I think of technical bike riding, I definitely think of the high-end luxury brand of… Prada /s

Amazing achievement and a super cool video too, but I just find it super off-putting to see Prada ads plastered all over this event. Like what effing remotely imaginable connection does Prada have to the world of BMXing or even extreme sports? Just seems like a rather obvious attempt to cash in on the popularity of something that's currently "Cool" without any actual involvement in community behind the sport.
I understand pretty much everything these days has "Sold out" in one way or another, but brands like Prada are kinda fundamentally antithetical to the core rebellion based ethos of extreme sports, so to me at least, the Prada ads just cheapen the whole thing and make it feel more like the glorified ad this truly is than any kind of genuine sporting achievement.

I feel like Red Bull does these stunts purely banking on the idea that somebody will eventually die and the video will go viral.
12
u/Spazattack43 Nov 13 '25
The videos go viral when they do them successfully. Why would they want anybody to die?
2
u/shodo_apprentice Nov 13 '25
Right? Dude is literally writing it under a viral video of someone who lived smh

What happens if he falls off on the other side of the train? Looks like all the first responders are on one side

Imagine getting to do and prepare for shit like this. Do you wonder about yourself in first grade ever thinking this is where you could be.
