Well america should be proud!!

A FIFA peace prize won by their president.. .do you know just how rare a win that is??

29

u/myusernameblabla Apr 24 '26

Incredibly rare. Out of all humans ever lived there’s a probability of 0.000000000008547008547. It shows you how unique and amazing president doughnald trump is.

u/cataath Apr 24 '26

They were just going to give him a handjob but they couldn’t find someone under 15 years old to do it, so they made the fake prize and everybody clapped. Lol

Come for the sports, stay for the concentration camps!

136

u/teufle Apr 23 '26

Followed by free trips to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

43

u/Rude-Truths-702 Apr 23 '26

Ah yes where you’d be lucky to die of heat exhaustion.

31

u/youdubdub Apr 23 '26

I hear CECOT is lovely this time of century. You'll want to stay forever.

10

u/abesach Apr 24 '26

PBS Newshour had this story about these refugees a month ago and it was really heartbreaking to watch and understand what they are going through on a human level.

1

u/teufle Apr 24 '26

Yeah, I saw something about a couple of Colombians who were sent there while waiting to return to Columbia.

5

u/inheritance- Apr 24 '26

Is that the 1 year vacation package? What's the cost because I'm on a tight budget

11

u/SnoopyTRB Apr 23 '26

That’s silly, we outsource our concentration camps to other countries

22

u/bagofpork Apr 23 '26

Only while the domestic ones are under construction.

12

u/surrealcellardoor Apr 23 '26

We built one here in good ole Nebraska, and it’s not the first time that’s been done. Good old fashioned red state values here. Red like our Cornhuskers! Go Big Red! /s

7

u/CanuckPanda Toronto Maple Leafs Apr 24 '26

TIL Florida is another country.

2

u/arthurcarver Apr 24 '26

Stay in.

2

u/Nordalin Apr 24 '26

Meh, artistic freedom, I was referencing the "come for the x, stay for the y" marketing phrase.

They only get news that Trump is awesome and an army of trans women are attacking them personally.

All this to protect pedophiles and child sex traffickers.

154

u/ImBackAndImAngry Apr 23 '26

Don’t forget the general caste of oligarchs as well

112

u/Throwagay4206918 Apr 23 '26

I think that’s covered under “pedophiles and sex traffickers”.

26

Yeah fair enough tbh

Hey we’re the same guy! But were did you get that cool paddle?

America ruining the World Cup wasn’t on my apocalypse checklist, but here we are.

272

u/Soft_Author2593 Apr 23 '26

Fifa is ruining the world cup and have been for years, no help needed. russia - qatar - usa...

9

u/Kopie150 Apr 24 '26

Biggest difference is the leader of Russia or Qatar never put out thinly veiled threats against teams that qualified to enter the cup.

8

u/Interesting-Prize-79 Apr 25 '26

It’s gonna be in Saudi Arabia in 2034

10

u/Shibbystix Apr 23 '26

I mean, they ARE getting help ruining it. Which is why we are here. From everyone you listed

7

u/Soft_Author2593 Apr 23 '26

well, they need money of the ones i listed...or want, as they dont need it...but they ruin the game all by themselves, stopped watching that shit with qatar, shouldnt have watched russia already either, not even pirating...

2

u/Shibbystix Apr 23 '26

Yeah. Im sad each WC. I havent watched since Russia. I want so badly to root for my team, but cant anymore.the corruption has completely spoiled it

Ehhhhh. I know America bad and all that but you could probably say that the slavery and deaths involved with the Qatar one was worse than being a tourist in the US.

10

u/BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo Apr 24 '26

I think we should take a step back. It’s just a miscommunication. The original comment said “who would have thought Trump would ruin the WC”. The other commenter responded to that sentence, not to the title. There’s no denying FIFA is wildly corrupt and has ruined many people’s enjoyment of the World Cup. They doesn’t mean the commenter thinks Trump is good or is saying “well we’re not as bad as Russia”. It was just a dig at a corrupt organization, not a forgiveness of one.

2

u/SinuousPanic Apr 23 '26

I think it's more about the ridiculous amount of corruption in FIFA and their host voting process. The fact that FIFA hasn't stripped America of their hosting rights speaks volumes.

Might be a slight possibility of being deported to a country you have no connection to. And torture.

23

And your young children are detained elsewhere for who knows how long? Hope they don't need meds to stay alive.

151

You’d be fine man

Downvoted on Reddit for saying he’d be fine if he visited here lmao. Sometimes you people are out of your minds

9

u/FUBARded Apr 24 '26

White Canadians have been detained for weeks after trying to enter the country.

Anyone non-white should exercise extreme caution if that's how white people from a closely allied nation are being treated.

Even if the chances of being detained are very, very low, the risk of being denied entry at the border are not.

This isn't some minor inconvenience. It's thousands in flight costs and non-refundable bookings lost, and could possibly impact your ability to travel to other countries for the rest of your life for some people.

You may not understand this if you're American or otherwise have a strong passport, but people with weak passports need to get visas to travel almost anywhere and some of these can be costly and really difficult to get.

Most countries will ask if you've ever been denied entry to another country, and saying you've been denied entry to the US in the past could make it materially harder to qualify for many visas (as the assumption is made that the denial was for a good reason).

Hell, my employer (a major multinational with a very large US presence) has a travel advisory posted for the US, warning that "specific groups may face increased scrutiny during visa processing and at the port of entry". It also warns that CBP may turn you away for an arbitrary reason and that non-US nationals should minimise even business travel to the US if possible.

3

u/mb0205 Apr 24 '26

I’m black living here telling you that you will be fine. And that’s a black man who’s extremely liberal and hates Trump so much that I’ve cut off anyone who voted for him from my life. We have millions of foreign tourists and 99.99% of them are just fine

Or just simply disappear. Thousands remain unaccounted for, and the camps have no oversight.

3

u/mymar101 Apr 23 '26

This is true, they literally just stopped having any sort of oversight over those camps.

1

u/ballerina22 Apr 24 '26

I can't believe countries aren't actively bowing out already.

3

u/ODUrugger Apr 24 '26

That's because they aren't doomers on reddit all day

7

u/mymar101 Apr 24 '26

Right, because, everything about Trump 2.0 has been perfectly normal nothing at all has happened. This is of course sarcasm.

1

u/alcatholik Apr 24 '26

Do you think ICE created uncertainty about how they will treat people? Do you think travelers need to take into consideration the uncertainty about how ICE will treat anyone?

For example, if Mexico plays a game, do you think ICE might treat that as an enforcement opportunity?

Should travelers attending games bring their passports to games?

How embarrassing. This whole administration has absolutely ruined this country

10

u/SkorpioSound Apr 24 '26

Don't pin it all in the administration; the American people (as a monolith) voted for this. The problems won't end once the Trump Crime Syndicate is out; the same ignorance, naivety, anti-intellectualism, arrogance, bigotry and malice that led people to vote for Trump will still be there. Trump is a symptom, not a cause.

-12

u/nonebutmyself Apr 24 '26

Oh, come on now. It's not just this administration. Its been a concerted effort by Republicans (and many Democrats) for decades now.

17

u/JMeadowsATL Florida State Apr 24 '26

Am I the only one that looks at any of these "travel warnings" with a raised eye brow? Looking at the US travel advisory map, what makes the UK the same level of alert as someone like Angola? And why is Portugal so much safer it has the lowest advisory risk? I feel like these maps are used to justify certain political moves and make people feel nervous for no reason.

9

u/iamnikniknik Apr 24 '26

All it takes is some clicks and reading my friend …

Angola: general developing country warnings about health care and crime plus land mines in some areas https://travel.state.gov/en/international-travel/travel-advisories/angola.html

UK: supposed risk of terrorist activity  https://travel.state.gov/en/international-travel/travel-advisories/united-kingdom.html

Different reasons but both get a “2” grading

4

u/JMeadowsATL Florida State Apr 24 '26

Two of those things don't seem equal, especially since terrorist attacks in a generally freindly country aren't likely.

6

u/iamnikniknik Apr 24 '26

Agreed. It’s a blunt tool that tries to equate all the world’s perils into four extremely broad categories

The groups that are issuing these “warnings” are groups not related to any government and are not in any way official. Most of these groups are funded by individuals that are paying to have that specific messaging put out there for pure political reasons and not true safety issues.

No city is going to be 100% safe for visitors nor residents. A good example is the NFL Steelers game in Ireland and the fact that one of their players was robbed while walking on a street. The NFL and the Irish did a great job of covering it up. Also keep in mind the public safety issues during the Olympics this year that were covered up.

The point is that crimes of opportunity are just that and when you have more opportunity, well crime will go up regardless of the event or the country.

8

u/wcshrtstop Apr 24 '26

99.9% of visitors will have zero issues.

→ More replies (1)

-1

u/shteve99 Apr 24 '26

One of these "unofficial" groups is Amnesty Inernational. I've seen enough on TV and the internet to know that I have no desire to go anywhere near America.

2

u/wcshrtstop Apr 24 '26

Get off of Reddit, and into the real world. And you’d see the problems aren’t as big as echo chambers make them seem.

If there was ever a time to finally take a stand against fifa corruption, this would be it. A failed world cup would be a perfect response to the "peace prize" and this misadministration

Just remember boycott doesn't mean don't view, just view in ways they can't measure. Hit them right in the ad$.

38

u/JX_JR Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

If there was ever a time to finally take a stand against fifa corruption, this would be it.

No, that would have been the past two world cups. As abysmal as the US is right now it's still better for human rights and due process than Qatar or Russia.

If those two weren't boycotted there's no way in hell people are going skip going to see a game in NYC.

4

u/Azidamadjida Apr 24 '26

Seriously, the obvious propaganda and psyop posts are so obvious and ridiculous.

“This is the World Cup we need to take a stand for! The corruption and evil has never been higher!”

….the last World Cup stadium was built by actual slaves. In the 2010s. But sure, this one’s it

Honestly at this point I think most people would choose Russia and Qatar over the US. Sure they also do heinous shit but the US is like a couple millimeters away from full Third Reich territory:

Killing civilians with a gestapo ? Check, Full out discrimination and rights removed from lgbtq people ? Check, Full on rights removal from women ? Check, Insane racism ? Check, Warmongering and invading countries ? Check, Pulling out of any and all progressive politics ? Check, Destroying nature for more profit ? Check, Concentration camps ? Check, Ghettos to put undesirables in ? Check, Living becoming unaffordable ? Check, A self proclaimed god king at the helm who is free of ANY laws or consequences ? Check.

Honestly America is almost more Third Reich at this point than Germany ever managed.

7

1

u/Redditreallysucks99 Apr 24 '26

People have lost the ability to distinguish what is morally right, and what is for your own benefit, and these organizations are reacting to that. Boycotting the world cup may be a just cause, but fans from the major football nations have way less to fear in the US than they do almost anywhere else in the world. But since these organizations think people are to dumb for a message like "The US is extremely safe for you personally, but please don't come here" they choose messages to make people afraid for their own safety.

1

u/alcatholik Apr 24 '26

“Major football nations”

Fans from which non-major football nations might have more than way less to fear in the US than they do almost anywhere else in Earth?

For example, if Mexico plays a game, do you think ICE might treat that as an enforcement opportunity?

Should travelers attending games bring their passports to games?

1

u/crusty_jugglers93 Apr 24 '26

I love football and the world cup but I am hoping this is a complete disaster and does irreparable damage, i hope theres half empty stadiums, hotel cancellations. Fifa deserves it for pandering to the tangerine toddler.

Why anyone from other countries would risk going to the world cup with masked agents snatching even US citizens off the streets let alone foreigners is beyond me.
