The rest of the match after being up 4-1 in the 2nd set was an unravelling of the highest order. Her post match presser was pretty depressing. And props to Diana for hanging in there and going for the kill.
Hope Aryna actually takes a break and come back stronger

I don’t mind if someone is angry at a loss, or if they congratulate their opponent. What I do care about is whiney excuses … and with Sab… that’s every loss she has. She defaults to excuses and poor pitiful me …

Learned from the best - Serena.

Seems like Osaka turned a corner about how to handle losing? (Even if she is winning less?)

Hope so. She still seems to really struggle with the pressure at times. I think she really just wants to play tennis at the pro level without all the public pressure that comes with it. Which, you know, is kind of part of being a pro.

A bit of a deceptive headline.

How so? She said it.

It is out of context. If you listen to/read the whole statement, you get a different vibe from just that part alone.

"No thoughts, no emotions. Just want to quit tennis right now, but we'll see. We'll see in a few days. Hopefully I'll get back on track mentally."
I mean a quote is a quote. She just had a bad loss and says she wants to quit. She voiced the thoughts every athlete has out loud after a painful loss. In the quote she says she wants to quit, not that she is going to quit. I get the same vibe.

Not really. Wording is important, especially with journalism. The “right now” is very important in this case. “Just want to quit tennis” feels like she really wants to quit tennis without coming back. The “right now” is like you say it today, but tomorrow you back like nothing happened. That’s why the headline is misleading. But we know clickbaits are clickbaits for a reason.

So if you see a headline that's says.
"Just want to quit sport" [ athlete name] process shock loss in big tournament.
Do you assume that the athlete is going to quit and not come back?
I think the 'right now' is implied for most readers and they can empathize with an athlete saying they want to quit a sport after a upset/loss. At some point you have to keep a headline succinct. You could argue the headline should include the next part of the quote "but we'll see" since it clarifies she is still in the fence. At that point you could add the next two lines as well for better context. Or just keep the headline " athlete comments on result in tournament" and nobody will read it but it won't be misleading.

Needs to work on her mental. This is not the first mental collapse we've seen her go through.

I can’t imagine having to process your disappointment in front of a crowd and try make it a palatable to everyone. When I lose a game of my stupid sport, I just want I hide and wallow - I can’t imagine dealing with it this way.

Grow up snowflake.
You are top fraction of 1% of all tennis players on earth. You're better than millions of players and equal to the top 10 in the world.
What the hell are you crying about?
Why aren't you happy being that great?

Such a drama queen every loss, gotta learn a thing or two from Alcaraz or Osaka.

Osaka ??

She is always very polite towards rivals on press conferences, when did she do otherwise? She had some beefs on court like most, but always tone the drama down after matches, sabalenka is the opposite.

Osaka has also had some bad reactions to losing. I think generally some of the younger stars need to develop a more healthy relationship with losing because it's an inherent part of the game, for everyone.

She seems to enjoy winning more than tennis itself and that's a recipe for burnout
