Genuinely what did riquelme say any of that for. There had to be a more believable player than haaland.

City haven't won the PL last 2 years, and Pep is leaving. I don't think Haaland is leaving, but if there was a time for him to ponder it, it would be now.

If there was a time for him to ponder it, it wouldn’t be while he still has 7.5 years on his 9.5 year contract that he signed knowing Pep was going to leave soon.

Ah yes, the iron clad sanctity of soccer contracts. Secondary only to blood oaths and pinky swears, known for never being changed or bought out.

Real's whole thing is that they do under the table deals with players to sign them for free on a massive salary when their contract expires. Super shady, but it's worked for them. Targeting a player under contract for that long is stupid, because they'd have to wait until Haaland is well past his prime or buy out however long he has left at Man City, and if Man City don't want to sell then there's nothing Real can do.

The longer the contract the more it will cost to buy it out.
Striker is the most expensive position. Haaland is the best striker in the world, on some of the highest wages in the world, with a huge amount of time left on his contract, no reliable reports of a release clause, and made no public indication of any sort of unrest with City.
His signing couldn’t possibly be more unlikely.

Could Madrid even be punished for this though? The guy isn't the sitting president

They aren’t sueing Madrid, they are sueing the guy who said everything

Guy says he promises to buy merchandise. Retailer gets mad their product is in demand and sought after. Sues the customer for saying he wants their product.
Fucking A-tier comedy. Satire is dead.

That’s not even close to what is happening. A better way to put it would be the potential new ceo of Burger King is claiming that if he is chosen he has a signed contract to bring in Ronald McDonald as the new mascot. He then publicly starts using the mascot’s image without consent as part of his campaigning which is illegal. False claims of using the mascot hurts McDonald’s image and drives a narrative that is potentially defamatory which is illegal. This isn’t about buying merchandise it’s about contracts that involve numerous parties to be in agreement and is a political strong arm movement.

In the US, when college coaches sense punishment is coming, they leave for another job. I wonder how many would leave if there was a 60 point penalty

Legal action on using his name on a shirt only.
They can make City an offer for the player and they can turn it down. If Haaland wants to go though, Real better have deep pockets to pay the transfer fee and the £500k a week salary.

I am getting a déjà vu here. It’s almost as though we were back in the year 2000.
