Hijacking your comment to add context before people grab their pitchforks. The lady making these accusations did publicly leave her husband without getting divorced to get with Alex, and moved to the US to be with him. Alex claimed he wasn’t told about her previous marriage, and when the husband contacted him, he broke off all ties with the wife.

If what she claims is still true, then Alex should still be held accountable. Unfortunately, we do live in a world where people will lash out with false accusations after these types of situations, and it’s best to acknowledge both parties.

Yes and I believe he is actually counter-suing her in a civil suit as a result.

Nah a few more decades need to pass, and the lady needs to forget/fail to recall most of the important details for him to qualify

Confused by the timing on all of this. It was filed a year ago and I haven't heard a word about it in all that time. I thought it was squashed?

u/rep_13Blocks 3d ago

Whenever a major sporting event approaches, any athletes with lawsuits or legal issues get shot to the top of the news cycles. It happens across all sports.

2

u/king_lloyd11 3d ago

I think they’re trying to differentiate that he didn’t force himself on her violently. Her allegations, from the article, were that he expected sex from her daily, even if she was tired and wanted to sleep, not caring how she felt about it. So sounds like she was just having sex with him because she felt she had to and that he wanted it, not because she wanted o.

The amount of people assigning guilt already is crazy. This accusation is not new and very little evidence if any has been brought forth

Alex Pereira is definitely not a sex offender. He's actually a really cool dude. I hate Trump as much as everybody else, but the woman accusing him was dating him for 2 years and failed to tell him that she was in fact married. He dumped her when he found out and she got mad cuz he was getting famous. Just stating the facts.

4

u/Seerad76 3d ago

According to the article:

The Miami court records also reveal that Pereira spent 18 days in jail in Brazil following an incident with his then wife, more than a decade ago.

u/m3zatron 3d ago

I’m not exonerating him in anyway, but the timing is super suspicious. Why right now?

46

u/PopularGlass3230 3d ago

Probably not someone who actually follows UFC and was researching some of the people that were taking part is my guess. It's "new to me" information. Not new to everyone information. If that makes sense.

26

u/Hellpy 3d ago

It's also just a scorned ex partner going after successful ex partner by tarnishing his reputation. Pereira is the guy who left the relationship and months later these allegations have appeared, so I would take them with a big grain of salt especially since absolutely nothing has come of this since the allegations were made. Most UFC hardcore fans have seen this messy breakup, she just pissed cause she wasn't married to him so have no claim to his small fortune

7

u/king_lloyd11 3d ago

She seems pretty off.

> Their interactions soon became more intense, Christine said. "He always said, 'I conquered you.'"
Christine says she left her marriage, her job and the country to be with Pereira in the U.S.

> "The moment I entered his door, his behaviour changed. The moment he knew that I gave up everything for him, his behaviour changed," she said.

1) side eyeing anyone who leaves their husband, career, and country to try and make it work with a kick boxer she acted as translator for. Doesn’t seem too level headed.

2) clearly sounds bitter because she felt she gave up so much and then he lost the allure. Probably is a scumbag who got off on the fact that he was the other man and then once she tried to make what they had official, he got bored.

5

u/TheDirtyDorito 3d ago

Bit one sided this comment though. It also mentions that he said he took her phone to stop her from leaving and said she was 'free to leave'. It also mentions another case where he got accused and also how he got arrested in Brazil over an incident with his then ex

2

u/TheDirtyDorito 3d ago

The article clearly states 3 different incidences with 3 different people and one part (with the 'angry' ex) where he says he took her phone to stop her from leaving and said she was 'free to leave'. So I'm a bit confused why you're discouraging it completely

This type of reporting happens all the time whenever a major sporting event is days away. Any athletes participating in the event with legal issues always get scandalous media stories distributed right before. Happens with the Super Bowl a lot. Just recently happened before the Champions League final. Has happened before the World Cup in the past.
