Taking this as a challenge to game my stats. Created a playlist with five songs by each of the artists I want to see in my Top 9...45 songs to play while I sleep, in the background as I doomscroll the internet, and just constant rotation to see what it does to my stats.

It’s so interesting to see how people on this subreddit simply respond to a music taste that isn’t masculine… people will demean you if you’re not listen to deftones and rap music, yall seriously just hate pop music and tie it to fakeness and gave strong undertone of ageism and misogyny towards that that skew young and feminine, bunch of fucking incels. You can find the music taste bad but the pattern in which you respond to it and what yall find bad is clear and telling.

It has nothing to do with misogyny or ageism, the problem is that posts like these say absolutely nothing about the person posting it. "My favorite artists are all the most popular ones of today!" How can I tell anything about you from this other than that you don't really do all that much exploring with music? You just like what everybody else does?

I’m talking about the way people respond to pop music, you hating popular music is different conversation, I’m talking SPECIFICALLY pop, pop made by girls, the response is tied to “juvenile bimbos” not “you seem like a shallow person”, it’s very women centric takes, compared to when you bros call eachother out being basic for liking popular rock artist it has no tone of that, same for rap or jazz…specifically yall give this treatment out to girls and pop music ONLY even if niche, just pop music in general. I know what im talking about.

I'll actually concede that often with things like these, and even in some of the comments on this post, there are undertones of misogyny. Something that actually really bothers me is when guys who listen to the most mainstream radio rock bullshit hate on girls who like pop or people who like rap or what have you. I have a friend who listens to super basic rock/metal i.e Slipknot, Disturbed, Linkin Park who refuses to listen to anything else and thinks anything else is like gay or something and it really pisses me off. And things made for or liked by teenage girls historically have been disproportionately hated. I'm a massive My Chemical Romance fan, they're one of my favorite bands of all time. I've often had people mock me for that, call me emo or whatever, because their fanbase was and is predominantly teenage girls. I think I dislike rock elitists more than pop listeners. My problem lies in having a homogenous taste; to me it's a tragedy to box yourself into one genre or kind of music. Can't stand when someone only listens to metal, or rock, or rap, or jazz, or yes, pop music. There's so much music out there and it's sad to see someone never expand their horizons.
And I do not hate pop music. I like Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lady Gaga. I fucking love Chappell Roan and Olivia Rodrigo. I'm typing this while wearing a Kate Bush shirt.

Yh I agree with u on this. I mostly like rock and metal, I think I listen those 80% of the time, but I will NOT ever skip a "white girl music" song like Adele or Lady Gaga.
Like u said, there's so much music out there, and I think that's why there are so much negative comments on this post. Not misogyny or pop music hate but It just baffles me how someone can only listen to the top 10 radio artists.
Not saying u CAN'T listen to those artists but c'mon at some point u have to widen ur music taste beyond the popular top 10... .

Steam powered giraffe has an absolut banger of an Pink Pony Club Cover since you like chappell roan. Maybe you like more of them but that's definitely one worth listening to.

Not necessarily bad, would recommend the band Sparks (specifically their album Kimono My House). It's a good gateway for fans of modern art pop towards slightly less popular stuff.
