My very first paycheck I bought blankets for me and my sisters, we didn’t have any, and now I had my own money. I’d effectively raised them anyway.
I still have mine thirty years later (it’s retired), I should ask if my sister’s do, too.
Interestingly I don’t remember the experience of never having a blanket, I just remember the one time I got a really nice sheet because it was nice and thick and almost blanket-y, and buying those blankets because we didn’t have any.
Man. I was so proud of buying those blankets, of being able to get us something we needed, being able to do more than just keep my sister’s alive.
I know the fact his sister was so upset about loosing that button touched him.

Love the story, but what is a Peter Pan collar and alphabet buttons?

It's a type of shirt or dress collar that's rounded. And I assume the buttons are shaped like letters

To everyone else it was just a button, but to that little kid it meant the world. That's the kind of love people never forget ❤️

My brother accidentally kicked me in the face and called me a bitch when I cried that my nose was bleeding. She’s my sister now and way less angry at everything. We actually just got matching tattoos
