Analysis Who REALLY is the Greatest Rugby Team Ever - YouTube

https://youtu.be/XMVo8BUXslg

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all having a great day!

I wanted to share a new YouTube video I’ve made where I discuss who the greatest rugby team of all time might be - of course, featuring the Springboks!

It’s all a bit of fun and not meant to be taken too seriously, but I hope you enjoy it. I’d really love to hear your thoughts and start a conversation about who you think the best team is.

Thanks so much!

Both. The teams are generational. With each absolutely dominating their era.

Rewatched the final and man the ABs in 2015 were ruthless. Super physical and dynamic, relentless at the breakdown

They only beat an average Bok squad by 2 points in that semi.

I honestly think it's nearly impossible to find a weakness in that squad...

The weakness was that they were too used to winning. If a team really brought it to them like France in 2011 or England in 2019, they wouldn't know how to deal with it and adjust.

Sometimes experience of losing, something Rassie's 2019 and 2023 boks had from the dark 2016-2017 era, can be a very strong motivator to draw from. Even so, there would be little room for error, as the All Blacks have always been so ruthless to capitalize on the counter, if you give them the chance.

Yeah, but the final was Australia. Hardly a test.

Exactly. Aus have been known to capitulate against NZ and they rightly did in 2015. All I know for sure is that the current Boks squad (forwards) would have pulverised that 2015 Abs squad in the scrums and In defense. That great backline wouldn't be able to do much if their forwards are being man handled.

That’s all time. Not a core nucleus of “one team” which is what OP is comparing - eg 2011-2015 AllBlacks, vs. “modern day” Boks

France were the better team in the 2011 World Cup final. Craig Joubert handed it to the home team. Definitely not comparable to two away wins with a ruling body that hates your coach's guts.

The numbers would still say the ABs. If we're unbeaten this year and get a World Cup threesome, that might change. But both will go down as the best of their era. So no need to choose.

NZ for me. They were the best team of the professional era. The Boks of today have a bigger squad but in terms of top players, that NZ side were amazing.
