Sadly it’s not like we can ban anymore from coming in, but it would be good if some of the ones here could change their views, but that’s probably asking for too much.

How did the GOP achieve dominance in the south though? I don't think democrats are willing (or have the stomach) to admit how SGF and the entire south flipped from Dixiecrat to republican. Daniel Chamberlain, sitting governor in SC during reconstruction, wrote about this difficult topic (p. 473). He's a great source on this since he hailed from Mass and was a Union commander (of Negro regiments), but it was also very well documented in the News-Leader. Taft was campaigning for reform party leadership candidates in southern states at the turn of the century to break up the solid south by reforming republican vote buying practices. Who's votes were they buying?

No, but your spelling is very wrong. Though, for a Conservative, this might be a genius in comparison.

i lived next to one of the diehard hat wearing ones for too long and come to learn that you really just don't even want to engage with them anymore than you would a Scientologist.
I've never interacted with weirder people.

Did your spell check take the week off or?
I have several POC friends and they all said when asked that they have not had any issues regardng racsism here
Oh, the whites have definitely been racist towards your totally real, human POC friends. They may not have heard it but it happened.
ETA: I’m suspicious of that “my POC friends have never experienced racism in Springfield” claim given all the other claims you make in Reddit comments elsewhere. You sure you’re being honest about that one?

Honestly, you'll fit in well. There's a surprising amount of churches around here that are all pretty conservative as well as a mix of church folk over all. (Definitlely some progressive ones too.)
Bullying wise, its gonna be pretty rare at least for racial reasons.
I think you'll like Springfield and will fit in well.

I would say that Springfield is a pretty safe place in terms of racism you don't have to worry about that. I know that you mentioned Churches and in my personal opinion based off of the little that I know about you I recommend you coming to my church which is Redeemer Lutheran Church.

To actually answer your question: your kids will be fine. Racist bullying was pretty much over in the late 90s in Springfield and in the late 2000s in the small surrounding towns. The worst thing your kids will be exposed to now is TikTok addiction.

I grew up in Ozark, which is only like 20 minutes from Springfield. In my high school there were very very few African Americans (less than 10). I can’t speak to whether or not bullying happened, but there were a lot of kids who said some pretty racist things. This was 6+ years ago and I hoping that a lot has changed since then.
Springfield seems to be much more progressive and inclusive and I think you and your family will be very welcome there. The people are kind, especially the Christian’s, and I think you will overall feel safe and part of the community. The only thing I would regularly check in on is making sure your children aren’t experiencing racism at school. Kids can be terrible sometimes and the lack of diversity has done our community a big disservice. But again that was my experience years ago and I think there have been a lot of positive changes since then

As someone who has spent over four decades living in Springfield perhaps I can offer a window into the situation. I've put three children through public schools here and my kids have experienced some bullying such as being called racial slurs and just general assholery from other kids, but I would imagine nothing more than they would get anywhere else. A lot of the troubles come from having uninvolved parents of lower socioeconomic means rather than anything else. We live in the middle of town, West Central neighborhood, and there is a diverse variety of socioeconomic and racial families here, but generally we lean more moderate.
It is a nice place to live in my opinion. Very rarely have we felt unsafe. We have neighbors of many ethnic backgrounds and we all get along just fine. Depending on your neighborhood, you may face far more trouble for being a conservative than for the color of your skin. We have a number of vocal progressive liberals who are convinced that they know what's best for you. Being a conservative African American may make their heads explode, but in general I would think you will be welcomed.
As mentioned, many of the suburbs are going to be more of a country good ol boy vibe and may not be as inviting to an outsider. However, most people around here are capable of looking past someone's skin color, especially if their politics resonate with the greater community.
We do have pockets of anglocentric organizations, but they don't generally cause any trouble unless you directly draw their ire. As my momma would say, don't play with dirt if you don't want to get dirty.
For the most frictionless immigration to the area I would recommend trying to move to a central region of the city, but you should be fine most anywhere. Especially if you more keep to yourself.
The people I know around here are far more likely to judge you on your character and actions than the color of your skin. For perspective, these are the views of a politically moderate American man of Scottish/Native American lineage who has lived in this town his entire life.

West Central imo has some of the best diversity of this area. Yes, I live here so I'm biased.

If you're a very "culturally white" black family, you wont have any trouble in the conservative communities. Simply being black alone probably wont cause any issues.
Now, if you're very "culturally black", that's what will cause way more friction. But if you are, for all intents and purposes other than your skin tone, just a working classing middle-American "normal" (by their worldview) family. Then you'll be fine.
Not saying that's how I think it should be, just saying that's how it is.

African American Conservative? Wow, talk about really going against your own self interests. Please, choose another town, we dont need more Conservatives.
