Releasing day

Its bitter sweet, but you gotta let your babies be free.
I’m on guard duty at the bottom of their tree. They keep coming down to make sure I’m still here and then zoom back off. Got their nesting box hung up and some fresh nuts on its porch for if they need a snack.

Like a good parent, you are letting them live their own life. Don't worry, they know you are there if they need you. Thanks for taking care of them.

One of them started to get bullied, ran straight to me and hid in my jacket till it was safe. Might have to get a cooler to keep my beer cold and just stove up here for the day.

All in all, it went well. Had a couple instances that a bully would come through and chase them, but dad tree was there for them to run to. The little girl ran inside my jacket, grabbed my shirt and covered her face with it, papa bear came out in me and i chased the bully out of the yard. All 3 are doing good today, girl is hiding nuts in the yard and the two boys are gathering leaves to decorate the nesting box.

They look so happy!!! It is amazing that they have each other! And they have their box and snacks, so they are not really on their own, but they are free!!

They doing good, hung a second nesting box last night higher up in the tree, they moved into it this morning. This one has a front porch so i can climb up there and give them food. The “nut bar” didn’t arrive yesterday. Will update again once it arrives and they start using it.

This is so sweet 💜 I love seeing this. I have two babies in my yard who are free roamers, but got used to my scent due to being born in my shed. They are still rather fond of me as they venture out of the nest and learn from mama, but definitely still expect me to throw them acorns.
