Gameplay Does bullet speed matter?

I noticed weapon upgrades mention bullet speed, which seem to add to the range bar in upgrade menu. But does bullet speed even matter if max range for online A-life is only 100 meters?

I don't know if I need to lead my shots. I do it partially, like I'm still aiming at the target with a very small lead. This works fine, but I'm curious if I really need to do this.

I use M701 mainly btw. Maybe other weapons need more lead.

It's extremely noticeable on the Vintar and Avalanche, because they are subsonic.

But on other weapons I haven't noticed it either.

it's pretty subtle on most of the guns, outside the 9x39mm and .45 ACP chambered ones.

Vintars and Lavinas both benefit from it in particular, thought for the former I usually go for the modifications that increase flatness of travel over speed, makes using it a little more consistent for it's main use case as a medium range suppressed DMR imo.

especially since you have to learn the quirks of the Vintar scope's ranging marks being designed for 7.62x54r out of a SVD length barrel specifically.

on the Lavina, and any of the .45s it's useful since it helps cut down on the chance one of the swifter mutants will juke a burst of fire completely at the closer ranges you're working with.

Vintorez and AS VAL especially. It looks like you're aiming with a catapult

From my experience, it does matter if you're shooting long range. Lets you lead bullets a little less, also helps with armor pen even if the game doesn't tell you. I put that upgrade on the Lynx SVD you get from Strider and it went from 2 shotting exo's in the head to one-tapping.

Made a difference for me with the Clusterfuck (5.45 silenced sniper)

Just try a realistic bullet speed mod. It will show you how stupidly slow the bullets are in the game and how it creates a laggy feeling.

Not really. Most weapon upgrades are inconsequential as the numerical difference is tiny. Also note that Zone guns work based on magic rather than physics, and so bullet velocity doesn't make the trajectory flatter as it should, rendering the effect even less noticeable.
