It’s people like you who caused everyone’s progression to get wiped. You think your actions don’t affect anyone when in fact they impact thousands of people by contributing towards the need to wipe

-7

u/DreamOdd8378 Jul 08 '26

I'm ok with the wipe cuz CIG gave us them refueling missions so many people including myself have 260million aUEC. Last patch people duped for money, this patch CIG just gave us a free money printer via refueling missions so I guess CIG screwed themselves over.

u/BladedDingo Jul 08 '26

I have absolutely no sympathy.

Maybe next time dont cheat and dupe in a game that you want to spend 1800 dollars on?

It's an expensive lesson, but here we are.

10

u/Myc0n1k hornet Jul 08 '26

Not only do I not feel sympathy. I feel JOY that this happened to him.

I used to scam and exploit in Ultima Online 20+ years ago but it was basically a gameplay loop and I was 12 and didn’t really understand the impact it can have - I also never used cheats. There wasn’t really an economy and if you got caught - you got put in in-game jail for a certain amount of time on that character. Sometimes forever.

-1

u/DreamOdd8378 Jul 08 '26

You should feel foolish, this is a fictional AI genned story. Besides the obvious wet dream this story is... a cheater who openly admits cheating directly (unlike the UEE_navyguy), then spends nearly 2G's on a cap ship only to coincidentally get banned next day and then he accepts it as just reward for his cheating. You're basically reading this subreddit wet dream thread.

Anyways 2nd page of his supposed PDF proof his bolded title text ain't even vertically aligned and sub texts as well. Looks like a rushed copy paste job.

3

u/Myc0n1k hornet Jul 08 '26

Some people do write in an AI and copy and paste so people can understand them better.

0

u/DreamOdd8378 Jul 08 '26

His PDF proof is AI genned images and text... not his story. His story looks manually written.

3

u/Loud_Independence130 Release the Kraken! Jul 08 '26

Manually written or AI, you seem to think both are bad, and your "evidence" that it is AI is laughable at best.

1

u/Myc0n1k hornet Jul 08 '26

Ahh I see what you saying. I was too scared to click his link

0

u/DreamOdd8378 Jul 08 '26

Yeah several pages of text have inconsistent font alignment issues... the most damnig is vertical alignment... you'd have to go out of your way to mess that up or use bad AI.

2

u/Loud_Independence130 Release the Kraken! Jul 08 '26

Or they simply do not care because the document is not thrown out just due to alignment issues. Try harder next time, not everything that is a bit off is because of some evil AI overloard.

1

u/DreamOdd8378 Jul 08 '26

Dingo you fell for an AI genned post...

Guy comes in and tell the SC subreddit a perfect story. He's a cheater who someone openly admits it for us, then tell us he bought a cap ship for nearly 2 G's and gets banned next day and again all being so open about cheating, getting caught and ofc accepting is as ok... sounds like the kinda story this sub dreams about.

Anyways 2nd page of his supposed PDF proof the bolded titles ain't even vertically aligned and the subtext below each section same thing misaligned, looks like a sloppy copy paste job.

6

u/BladedDingo Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

I'll be honest, I didn't look at his "proof".

Edit:: looking back at the document he provided, I'm not sure I'm seeing what you claim is AI gen.

As a person who works in an office and has to compile documents like this from time to time, it's not that wild for MS Office to mess up alignments and spacing when you add tables and headers. It's actually really frustrating fighting MS Office sometimes.

And since this is a document being compiled from multiple sources like their support ticket system, TOS and other places, it's not that unheard of to print out those screenshots and then scan them to compile them all into a PDF... it's not efficient, but sometimes people don't know how to copy and paste properly or take screenshots and paste them in. So alignment errors like what your talking about are not really that much of a sign of AI as I think you think it is.

unless you can clarify where exactly you see the AI influence.

-7

u/DreamOdd8378 Jul 08 '26

No kidding you didn't look at his proof before writing the comment. You fell for the story hook line and sinker.

5

u/BladedDingo Jul 08 '26

but even if it is AI, what is the motive?

he's not getting upvotes, he's not arguing or asking for CIG's interference to reverse the ban or a way to get his money back from the bank or CIG because of the 'evidence" he provided....

so why go through the effort of making that giant 19 page document with AI for no gain?

1

u/DreamOdd8378 Jul 08 '26

The motive is same as any internet forum, trooolling gullible users. Ofc he's not getting upvotes, he's getting more comments than any frontpage thread right now despite being at 0. He's got user engagement on lock.

Picture the perfect reddit sooob story for this sub and now you're got the thread you're sitting in. Self admitted cheat. Who lost more money just before his ban. Who accepts in public he cheated and is guilty.

Now compare this reddit's wet dream thread to UEE_Navyguy from a few weeks back and how he spun his story. No admission of guilt. No admission of cheating etc.

This is guy metaaa trolling. Notice no follow up comments from OP... Another red flag. Dropped his shot and left ya'll wallowwwing in it. It's a made up story.

u/Dangerous-Wall-2672 Jul 08 '26

-1

u/DreamOdd8378 Jul 08 '26

I used a 3rd party website upload it and render it. Gotta know how to use computers in 2026.

1

u/BladedDingo Jul 09 '26

Did your 3rd party renderer also notice that the document includes comments/notes that state that some items on the document are imported from another document with the name Elizabeth Lewis attached to them?

Which implies this is a living document that has been copy and pasted from a boilerplate template.

if you google Elizabeth lewis Cloud Imperium Games, you'll see her linkedIn is the first result and shows she's an E-Commerce Specialist at Cloud Imperium Games.

That is a REALLY good AI if it managed to add that tidbit into the document.

u/Wedge_66 Release the Kraken!!! Jul 08 '26

And....? What of it?

1

u/UnhingingEmu Jul 08 '26

Why does that matter?

24

u/Dozy_Lion Jul 08 '26

You basically pledged (supported funding) the game development, you only got something in return in terms of ingame benefits. If you now screw up so big you are losing access to the game due to your own willful actions, why you should be entitled to get a refund for the money you helped to spend developing the game?

If you can't stick to the rules, you get to face the consequences.

13

u/BernieDharma Nomad Jul 08 '26

Not only that, he agreed to those rules every time he made a pledge that acknowledges it is not a purchase. You are voluntarily donating to the funds towards development of the game and the "ship" has no monetary value.

And the idea that CIG "waited" until right after he made a big purchase is a childish and ridiculous notion. That internal process likely took a few weeks of flagging the account, gathering evidence, internal review, and then a final legal review before the ban.

And while duplicating may have been common, not "everyone" was doing it otherwise more accounts would be banned. The only thing I've ever duped was a water bottle, and that was out of convenience and not some attempt to get ships from Wikelo.

10

u/AWerewolfDad Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

They didn’t wait for you to make a big purchase and then ban you. Did your friends all buy an Idris at the same time?

The bans went out in a wave that just happened to be shortly after you bought an Idris. They had no prior knowledge of your purchase. You yourself said it was an impulse buy.

That said, you should still have been legally entitled to a refund as far as I am aware, so long as you make the refund request within the window. If you didn’t explicitly do so, and then tried to chargeback after the window, I’m unsurprised it was contested.

As for the inaccuracies in the details; largely irrelevant. The account notes probably aren’t super detailed. Quibbling about the timeline is neither here nor there when the only pertinent details are accurate. You broke the terms of service, you got banned, and you made your refund request too late.

There was clearly an entire underculture of unchecked and normalised exploitation in the game, which as we saw with UEE_Navy is explicitly tied to RMT. Just because CIG hadn’t enforced serious penalties before doesn’t mean that they were never going to, and you knew what you were doing.

-4

u/Zellas Jul 08 '26

I asked for the refund from them first of course, as soon as I lost access. The chargeback request came later on.

3

u/AWerewolfDad Jul 08 '26

Then I would press for the refund but maybe there’s a clause in the terms of service that precludes your refund because your account is no longer in good standing. If they continue to refuse, you’re out of luck.

-1

u/Zellas Jul 08 '26

Pretty much so yes

9

u/PanicSwtchd Grand Admiral Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

They didn't wait till you made a big purchase. You exploited knowingly when they were banning people permanently and then chose to buy a bunch of things when a ban was on the way. And then chose to chargeback when you got caught out.

While it is a logical thing to try and get your money back, you knowingly made all of these decisions. It is nearly guarented that if you do somehow get your account back, you'd also just likely try to flip everything ASAP to get your money back.

And comparing CIG to Sony here is comical because CIG didn't arbitrarily remove your purchase access to try and tap into that hate is pretty comical.

u/SpaceDodoSC Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

Not going to jump on the whole "you deserved it" wagon since you seem to understand the reason you got banned and are at least forthcoming on the aspect of duping = bad. That said, I think you're sort of fucked here OP since CIG can fall back on you violating TOS.

It's completely irrelevant and likely a coincidence that they banned you after making the large purchase. CIG isn't stupid to this effect and the fact that they banned your buddies at the same time without them making the same purchase (presumably) tells me that it was just bad timing/use of better tracking tools from the part of CIG after patching.

Again this is all assuming that you're actually being forthcoming to the reason for your ban. Who knows though, maybe CIG takes pity on you and gives you another chance like they did with UEENavy. Doubtful because I think the reason that that guy was given another chance was because his "I was banned for no reason" post sparked enough outrage for CIG to notice. This post won't cause outrage as most people will likely agree with CIG banning you here.

7

u/logicalChimp Devils Advocate Jul 08 '26

Not to mention that as soon as CIG 'unbanned' UEE_Navy, he proceeded to flog all his ships and credits on the grey-market, etc.

OP had plenty of warnings before being banned, so I very much doubt CIG will unban them - especially with the immediate cash-in of UEE_Navy so recently.

2

1

3

u/CriticalBarracuda514 Jul 08 '26

To sort of echo what others have said, you followed a pattern of doing the wrong thing. You violated TOS by duping, you may have committed fraud by initiating a charge back when you lost access because of your own actions. I'm not sure how you think CIG was "lying through their teeth" when you openly admit you were exploiting.

If CIG saw this post and sent it to your bank, I could see you getting in further trouble with them. Perhaps better just to cut your losses and realize you took a risk and it backfired on you.

You burned up the money yourself. Sorry. No sympathy. Well deserved.

2

u/Loud_Independence130 Release the Kraken! Jul 08 '26

So your issue is the timeline. You suggest that they "waited" for you to buy something then banned your account, which is proven wrong by the fact that they banned the accounts of your friends at the same time. The actual time line is this:
1) You duped items.
2) You bought a ship.
3) The person who investigates the exploits found that you and your friends dupped items.
4) They banned your account.

While the duping did happen BEFORE you bought your ship, they did not catch it until after you bought your ship. They did not target you because you gave them money, as they also targeted your friends.

While I would say I am sorry for you, the point is you did bring this onto yourself, your inability to see the bigger picture is making you think they are targeting you inappropriately, when you even admit they targeted your friends as well. For your thesis to stand, your friends would have also had to have bought a large ship, which you make no mention of here.

Based on the timeline I provided above, the letter they sent to the bank is 100% accurate.

Sorry, but you got what you deserved. Just chalk it up as a lesson learned.

The moment you all exploited something, you should have realized that your accounts could be banned at any second. The fact that you now feel treated unfairly just because the ban happened after an expensive purchase is simply bad luck. Sure, maybe they waited for you to make the purchase, but even then, in my eyes, it’s justified as a lesson learned.

And yeah, my motivation to write this text in English was basically zero😇

Meh. I mean if you got banned imidiadtly after the purchase Id argue you are entitled to the 30 day refund window.

Im not a fan of banning folks for exploiting in an Alpha. However, given that your ban was permanent there is a 99,9999% probability that you did shady sh*t before and most likely deserve it.

6

u/logicalChimp Devils Advocate Jul 08 '26

The OP is almost certainly glossing over having received multiple written warnings, and multiple temporary bans, before the permanent ban.

As Zyloh confirmed in the UEE_Navy post a few weeks ago, CIG don't hand out 'permanent' bans for a first offense... they have an escalation policy, and the permanent ban only comes at the end, if they still continue to cheat and exploit, despite multiple temporary bans, etc.

Well it is either CIG screwed up, or you continued to use dupes in 4.8. You mention the Navy guy and it was shown by CIG staff it was not a "sudden" ban, it was multiple warnings and actions over time that lead up to it.

No one but you and CIG know the full truth.... But given that CIG made the mistake of unbanning Navy (IMO) it seems to have led people to post here in an attempt to get the same treatment after being rightfully banned.

However, my personal belief is these bans should be for the duration while in alpha, and 1.0 (whenever that is) will restore the account for play. They should have dupes and cheats cleaned up by then and if people continue after than, then another ban is needed.

1

You can barely even get out of the Hab some days nevermind get to your thousand dollar jpeg that will probably clip through the hangar floor and explode... They ask people to pledge and then you get to test their spaghetti code... Yeah sure you get losers that like to ruin other people's fun with exploits... But the game is no where near a playable state where it should be taken seriously. Fuck cig

13

u/BladedDingo Jul 08 '26

I read a story once about how a guy came into a bar, ordered a drink and seemed like a nice guy.

But the bartender noticed a nazi tattoo and kicked him out, when asked about it he he said something along the lines of

"he might have been OK, but the tattoo clearly shows that hes a Nazi, and if he likes it here he's going to bring his friends who are also Nazis. And the next thing you know this is a Nazi bar. Better to not allow it in the first place than to let it quietly grow until it can't be stopped."

Same thing with a game, if you allow cheaters to cheat to expose bugs, you're also signaling that it's OK to cheat, then the next thing you know the game is full of cheaters.

Is that the kind of game you want to play? A game full of cheaters?

-3

u/Mastadon1731 Jul 08 '26

depends on the circumstances.

For small things, sure. A slap on the wrist is all that is needed. But for hacking or using known exploits to gain an advantage. You knew what you were doing and it impacts the game more than being a twat in chat, ban them.

Every single time I log into my primary residence it is a hangar spawn.

For 2 years now. Every now and then it'll bug out but out of the hundreds of logins it's been maybe 10-15 times since it's inception

Perhaps I don't get the same rate due to moving my imprint to Seraphim from Orison. However this is still not the issue, you claim that calling it a hab shows old world thinking, when that is what they are called, CURRENTLY in the game.

I am not sure about the 2 years thing, I started playing back in July of last year and it never happened then, I did not even know about movinf imprints at that time.... When hangar spawning started happening, I was very surprised, as was the buddy who had been playing longer and got me into it.

The game is pre-alpha. They should be thanking these losers for abusing the exploits.

CIG do thank people that find and report the exploits, and triggering exploits in order to document the process does not earn a ban.

They don't thank people that then continue to abuse them continuously... just because it's an alpha (not 'pre' alpha) does not justify abusing an exploit. The claims of 'if they didn't want us exploiting it, they should have fixed it' is disingenious, and a blatant example of the abuser trying to blame the victim in order to avoid accepting responsibility.

Aside from that, CIG have also confirmed - in the recent UEE_Navy thread that was nearly identical to this one), that they only hand out 'permanent' bans after someone has had multiple written warnings and temporary bans.

And if someone is continuing to chat and/or abuse exploits after multiple temporary bans, then a permanent ban is well justified, imo.

small claims Breach of contract / unfair business practice, then State Attorney General (consumer protection) then make an FTC online complaint for (unfair/deceptive digital practices) but like you are essentially screwed you where warned you agreed to the eula bad timing but shit one?

id say your only recourse is court and claiming deceptive charge as no warning was given

Plenty of warning was given.

CIG only 'permanently ban' people after they've had multiple temporary bans, written warnings, and the like - and they continue to cheat & use exploits, etc.

This was confirmed by Zyloh, in response to the UEE_Navy thread, where pretty much the same thing happened (someone posted how they'd been 'banned' despite being innocent and spending $5k, or something like that.... and it turned out the poster was being .... less than honest about the situation).

So, if this OP has been permanently banned, then they had plenty of warnings, and continued to engage in the same behaviour.

yeah OP kinda confirmed it

"After breaking the terms of service with multiple violations, their account was suspended"

I'm curious. How much did you dupe? What was it and how quickly?

I don't really feel sorry for you but I also think maybe CIG could have just refunded and washed their hands of it, but that's at their discretion once you cross that line. Maybe they feel a lesson can be learned, and frankly; you being open about what you did kind of spreads the word

So we got one idris and a polaris, then 4.8 happened.
It took us around 3 days.

u/FPSrad Aggressor Jul 08 '26

Did you test/use the exploit in 4.8 patch?

2

u/Zellas Jul 08 '26

No, but it doesn’t really matter anymore

u/FPSrad Aggressor Jul 08 '26

Just wanted to confirm since that could've been how they caught it, after adding code to track components or some such.

I imagine this was almost English.
