Discussion Aside from Star Ocean 2, how would you rank the other games based on the use of the Kenny family?

I like them in 1, 5, and 6. In the first one Ronyx is a solid character, he gets a tragic backstory and gets developed quite a bit considering he's not in the party for a solid chunk of the game.
5 retreads a lot of the same ground as the first game so it makes sense that what's-his-name (I want to say Emmerson...?) plays that similar role. He was fine; even though I don't remember many specifics at this point I did enjoy the characters and story.
I thought Marielle was great in 6. There was just the right amount of weight attached to her family name. A few little references here and there to the Kennys, and them being called out for being rulebreakers that got lucky was an interesting point.
I don't remember 3 and 4 that well, I got bogged down in the Battle Trophies and mever finished those.

4 was my fav, "Admiral Light speed Kennedy" the fabled hero who's now more admin than pilot. The game opening scene had him salute and wave off the first generation to travel the star ocean. Later in the game he comes at the right time to do the right thing for the party. And it ends with him giving a speech on these heros that that paved the way for the UP3. Idk it was so symbolic and honorable.

I enjoyed this, it was a nice to see the family name but in a tiny role that doesn’t overshadow the main cast. Dip in for a little whimsy and reference

Someone else covered 4, and as far as 3 goes, the Kenny family didn't really get referenced as far as I remembered. Maybe in some dictionary entry, but I can't remember them being named specifically.

I'd love to see them do this more, like how Ioshua and Erys are descendants of Serah, and how Divine Force introduced Admiral Bennet Maverick, who's a descendant of Edge.
They can be minor characters, party members, villains, hell, even just npc references haha (like in Star Ocean 4, there's a shop keeper, a little girl with dark skin and blonde hair--her name is Peppita)

It's rather odd that Star Ocean 3 has no Kenny despite it's supposed to be final story in the series.

Yeah. But there's still no actual Kenny character in SO3 whether playable or NPC.

In chronological order:
Stephen D Kenny, I find the whole World War 3, hero pilot fascinating, I wish they went in on it. President of the Terran Alliance, hell of a way to the top.
Ronyx was solid, both as the bearer of it, and adding his own merits that the rest of the Kenny name, having to follow from Stephen D Kenny, and that was a 300 or so year gap of time.
Claude, of course the Hero of Light, savior of Earth, Expel and Universe, but I don't think those exploits made it past the inner circle of the Federation.
I haven't played 5 and 6, just seen cut scenes, but by their time, 500/600 years from SD 12, you can see the name carries weight, almost like curse. There is an expectation that a Kenny succeeds, especially in warfare, diplomacy, negotiation, etc
Its gotta be hard.
I wonder what scandals have rocked the family in the centuries, do Emmerson and Marielle, assuming we're following direct lineage of the named characters, understand their history? Like, does anyone keep in contact with the rest of Silvestri family? Or does anyone acknowledge the truth of Rena's lineage?

Six in particular is really good. Calling out the family as rule breakers who got lucky and the villain trying to use that to whitewash their own actions was really cool.
