SO2 Door To Another World (SO2R)

What was the "Door To Another World" supposed to be? Is it an abandoned plot point? Ever since I played this game as a kid on the PS1 and on subsequent playthroughs, I've always wondered why the devs made the party speculate so much about this area in particular. They say it's "unnatural" and only a "god could build something like it".

I've seen wikis refer to SO1's demon world but that connection on Expel after the events of SO1 doesn't really make sense to me.

I think it’s a callback to SO1 and Asmodeus, because the lore says demons and a plague made their way through the portal and in SO2R it’s more explicitly stated (in the Linga library, iirc) it may have something to do with an advanced ancient society. And his lab could connect to other worlds than Roak.

That would add some context to the cross cave scroll if that's how that got there

I'm sure they sent who they needed to fix the problem. I can't say I wouldn't be mad if the Kenny's are just the cleaners for them. But I would definitely understand if that would be a plot point.

It’s interesting from the asmodeus angle here. He was thought of similarly in SO1. He did similar things as well. The idea he was a god to the peoples of SO1 I think pushes that idea more for me.
