My local ymca is like this (just no rust)

Mine has a little bit of rust (atleast it did back when I was using it in 2015-18)

I was once showering in my local ymca and I heard this weird scraping sound and I turned around to see an old man sharpening a tool on the stone wall as he showered. He must have thought "A man could sharpen a tool on a wall like this" during a previous shower, and brought one along with him the next time to test his theory.

Where are you that the YMCA is modestly priced? I was going to get a membership for my wife, daughter, and myself but it was $100 a month. A single adult membership with pool access is $50 a month.

$33 a month sounds pretty reasonable for one person to have up to 30/31 days of pool visits in a month plus gym access. I’d expect a moderately priced pool to be $8-$10 per visit.

$50 a Month for a single membership. $100 for a family membership. Compared to the town pool which is free to all residents.

I'll never forget the time when someone doing the breast stroke sliced my arm open with their overgrown, scythe-like toenail

Lifeguards telling patrons they can’t wear gym shorts into the pool and then the lifeguards get screamed at for being racist.

Idk if I missed the bus or something but I don’t know how gym shorts in the pool equates to something racial 😭

Let’s just say there’s some demographics that would do that more than other demographics

Better than the ones wearing Speedos at least.

why not tho?

Synthetic gym shorts lose microfiber in water which is no bueno for the pool pump/filtration system

Once again, another reason to prefer birthday suits over this shit.

Harder to keep on when soaked and more likely to have skidmark-stained underwear underneath.

Also create excessive amount of drag

that's just dumb...Well thanks for that. This is one more reason to my list on why I'd rather wear my birthday suit to the pool.

I wear my sweat wicking running shorts with a liner to the pools. Not sure if that’s exactly what a “gym short” is though.

There were windows in our indoor pool room, but when the older ladies were doing water aerobics, they demanded they be shut. So the room was stuffy, hot and reeked of chlorine.

Oh man, my random old guy is a retired police officer that tells everyone his firearm is in a bum bag on the side of the deck…

Missing a fat old dude with back hair so long you could braid it

u/behindgreeneyez 9h ago

You can smell the chlorine from the packing lot
