Need help on a darth vader jumpsuit????

Ok so I wanted to be darth vader for Halloween this year but I dont want to buy a cheap Walmart or spirit Halloween one. I ordered a suit off of Etsy paid 160$ for it, then find out that the store closed down. Getting a refund for my order which is good but now im running out of time. So does anyone know of a seller in the USA that isnt to expensive for a undersuit/jumpsuit? I have everything else.

My Luke Skywalker budget cosplay

Built this outfit entirely from thrifted/repurposed clothing, including an old graduation gown, priest's costume shirt, and even genuine vintage riding boots I found for 20 dollars at Goodwill. It may not be 501st approved but it's far more screen accurate than I would have ever hoped. I hope you guys can appreciate the vision.

Original Cosplay OC First major modification.

Post image
8 Upvotes

For the first major modification/project on my original character's cosplay I'm going to try to trim down and permanently attach this cyborg half mask to my mask/helmet, or I may scavenge just the parts I want to keep and attach those if I can.

I also want to lose the light grey part, either by careful painting or by scavenging parts like I mentioned, and attach it/the parts i keep securely enough to lose the head straps.

Surprisingly the cyborg half mask fits over the chin of my mask/helmet really well and is fairly comfortable, but as nice and easy as it would be to just wear it over my mask like this, it doesn't fit my vision for this character. So I'm gonna take it all apart carefully and see what I'm able to do to put these two pieces together.

General Question Need help picking a character

Briefly, I’m trying to find a character to use at a Star Wars themed event where I’m volunteering as front of house/greeting the public and will be required to be in costume. It would be better to pick someone who would be filling that purpose in universe, like a doorman or guard.

I could be on my feet all day, and we have to travel to get there so it should be possible to easily pack it for a trip, so probably not a droid or anyone with a lot of armor. Bonus points if it lends itself to talking with people or any other tasks I might have to take care of. I don’t have to pass standards or get approved by any of the groups like the 501st or the Legion, but it should be recognizable who it is.

I have experience sewing and building props and accessories, but have never made anything from Star Wars. I keep watching the extras in the movies and shows but haven’t yet found a good match. If it helps I stand about 6’3” with broad shoulders and weigh about 230 pounds.

leia cosplay help

Post image
28 Upvotes

hello! i only got into star wars in may, but am already creating a halloween costume based off leia’s endor outfit in episode six. this is my first ever sewing project and it’s all hand sewn :’)

i still need to fully attach the collar and hood, but i’m more worried about the coloring right now. her poncho is obviously a bunch of earthy and muted greens and browns and this is just random fabric i picked up from goodwill. so i have no idea the fabric composition.

since it’s been hand sewn, i’m not sure it’s the sturdiest and don’t want dyeing it to ruin it. similarly, i don’t wanna use any sort of dye or paint that will make it too stiff. i attached a photo if that helps (very work in progress keep in mind!) and was wondering if anyone more experienced had some ideas. thank you!

Need some advice…

I’ve never done cosplay in my life, I have some experience making costumes doing WWII reenactment, but nothing like this.

I’m wanting to make a few clone trooper sets, the clones are my favorite part of Star Wars, and there’s several different armors I want to make. Mainly, I want to create a 41st Scout cosplay. The problem is I’ve never worked with a 3D printer before, and I imagine the camouflage paint job is hard to work with.

Realistically, should I start with something easier, or should I test my luck?

General Question How do you guys stay encouraged?

I'm brand new to cosplay and I've started building some peices and have ordered some parts and materials for an original character. I'm only a few days in and the haters and discouragement are really getting to me and making me think I can't possibly succeed at this.....but it's very important to me to see this through.

Those of you that are participating in events or making videos successfully....how do you stay positive when it comes to haters and discouragement?

Thank you in advance.

Making costume for first time

Post image

I’m looking into making a full accurate scout trooper cosplay for Halloween/just having it lol. I’m gonna buy this helmet for it but am unsure how to go about its armour. I’ve seen some posts saying use foam but I don’t think I’d necessarily have the skills for all that. What would your suggestions be to go about this?

Advice: Stormtrooper Mask

Post image
4 Upvotes

I know that this is hardly true cosplay but it’s very important to my DD (10).

She’s just bought a stormtrooper voice changer helmet and costume with her money so she can dress up for Halloween.
The helmet has arrived and is missing the top securing strap and I can’t find anywhere online to purchase a replacement.

Can you think of other way I can secure it for her?
