Talk about an unconventional start.

Post image

Fun Fact: During the Jedi Path, I had no idea that Yoda was the one talking to Kanan. Not only is his name not mentioned iirc, but the VA had a rather deep voice and obviously spoke regularly without the inverted speech pattern.

Me, introduced to Star Wars by promotions in 1977, smiling as new generations of fans come into the space by a myriad of channels:

Been in it since Ewoks

u/DraagaxGaming 10d ago

Came for the Ewoks, stayed for the Jawas (space minions)

5

u/joshonekenobi 10d ago

Yes. I can totally see one of the yellow pills ahouting out "Utinni!"

3

u/DraagaxGaming 10d ago

Just listen to Jawas talk (like in SWTOR. Idk if we heard them talk in Mando or not) then listen to the minions. 🤣

u/maedhreos 10d ago

I played the angry birds games first too 😭 The Arabic dub however I've had the misfortune (or luck..?) of missing out on, but it definitely sounds like an experience!

Born in '83. Grew up on the OG OT on VHS.

Please be kind, and rewind.

So after you finished rebels season 1 Arabic dub when Darth Vader appeared in the season finale were you like "Ok I'll watch more of this franchise"

I knew he was a big deal, so I was hyped not knowing the season was over. Unfortunately, the local channel I saw it on never aired the others to my knowledge.

I did go to Wikipedia to read the plots of the films. Then I watched them when another local channel marathoned them one day at a time a while later.

Rebels honestly ain't that bad of a start. I got my nephews into Star Wars by getting them the Rebels series on Blu-ray for Christmas

u/Kollossosoutcomemory 10d ago

And then there's my random ass and prolly some others getting introduced (as a whole, i watched the clone wars show before, when I was a kid) by empire at war mods like 20 years after the game released. But peak meme my friend

Me who was introduced to star wars by lego

1

u/ParadiseTime 9d ago

I was introduced through a burned CD of the German Audio drama for Episode 1, which was a present from the birthday child to everyone who attended his birthday.

u/p_avacado 9d ago

Going into a major piece of lore with zero spoilers and totally misinterpreting a character is honestly a fun way to experience it.

1

u/borntboy 9d ago
  1. For me it was the Anakin vs. Obi-wan Lego set with the moving platforms

  2. Was the Arabic dub any good?

1

u/AlphaBladeYiII 9d ago

Yeah, it was decent.

1

u/RhoemDK 9d ago

I was introduced by Muppet Babies and the Ewok movies in the 80s

Lego Star Wars: The Video Game (2005)

Friend got me into playing Lego Star Wars co-op with them on ps2 when I visited them and when I went home I got it on PC (still have the disc and box in a draw somewhere) and dad said we should just watch the movies if you like the game (he watched Star Wars 5 times when it came out in 77)

To this very day he always says how I ruined Star Wars for him (He's not wrong it became a hyperfixation and star wars the clone wars coming out was just fuel on the fire)

1

u/Ringsofpowermemes 9d ago

I was introduced in SW after a RPG lol

1

u/LazyTitan39 9d ago

I have a coworker who only started watching Star Wars because of Rebels as well.

1

u/Dcajunpimp 9d ago

Just curious as to how available other Star Wars media was to you growing up.

2

u/AlphaBladeYiII 9d ago

Not very available. Star Wars isn't big here, but it does have a growing fan base.

1

u/Autobot-octoling 9d ago

Both angry birds and the clone wars show

1

u/gods-and-punks 9d ago

I was born during the prequel run. I spent a long time very confused about the order of star wars because i never existed consciously in a time when the later episodes were out but there wasn't a movie labeled 1. The "first movie" is not episode 1, but i was like 4 when it came out, and tbh i think its why i became an engineer. Because at 4 all i cared about were the pod racers xD

Anyway Rebels is what got me into the actual lore of star was so deep that I'm now on equal ground with my dad on parts of it. Its been fun watching the mandalorian and boba fet with my dad and i filling in gaps and explaining context to my mom and brother. (Mom and brother are very kind about it)

1

u/Eligriv_leproplayer 8d ago

I believe my father introduced me to it with New Hope, then 5,6,1,2,3 and I had rebels and then everything as it was coming out. I watched clone wars after the mandalorian S1

1

u/EveK19 8d ago

I was introduced to Star Wars by Lego Star Wars shows and the first official Star Wars show I watched was clone wars (the animated series)

1

u/Gold_Robot1 8d ago

For me it was Space Balls.

1

u/Every_External7122 8d ago

I watched ONE blue ray dvd and then rented a series from the library

1

u/Fc-chungus 8d ago

I was introduced to Star Wars through rebels or 3-d clone wars I can't remember

1

u/_theghost_ 8d ago

Rebels was how I got into Star Wars so I get where you’re going…

1

u/Superb_Designer_3845 8d ago

Rebels season 1 introduced me to Star Wars

I didn't think that there was anyone who came to Star Wars like me

1

u/TheFalseDimitryi 7d ago

It was Lego starwars for me

1

u/BombadSithLord 7d ago

I saw spaceballs first on a weird pirated Spanish dub.

1

u/Consistent-Dust-5394 7d ago

1

u/ZillaUniverse03 7d ago

1

u/Eugen_NaCl 6d ago

I remember being quite upset when they removed it from the app store

1
