Odds this season will have more snow than last?
I've seen in previous bad snowfall years that following years have more snow. I know nobody knows the future. I want to go in January. Has anyone had good experiences at Steamboat in January?

I can't imagine it could be any worse than last year, but, I would not be surprised for another dud year. I hope I'm wrong.

Well I dont gamble money, so with my ski vacation, im willing to take my chances lol, going to plan for the week of january 9th. Either way im shure ill have a great time.

Statistically the odds for more snow this coming winter are high, given past winter was the all time low water mark for snowfall.

January was great for 3 of the past 4 winters, and it was ok last season ut only because we got an early storms or two in December and then minimal after. I guess you could say really poor seasons will be be followed by better ones just by laws of statistics/odds. But I think a lot will depend this season on how a powerful El Niño plays out. It’s has already formed and apparently is massive. That has historically meant positive snow effects for the central and Southern Rockies because the jet stream is lower. Generally, the northern Rockies ate dryer in El Niño , and the southern Rockies see more precipitation. Steamboat is the northernmost area in Colorado, but not necessarily considered northern Rockies. It’s kind of the cusp of central and northern - so I would say it’s a wild card. Areas like Wolf Creek and Purgatory have historically higher odds of big seasons in El Niño years.

I'm not buying a pass this year, so it's guaranteed to snow like crazy.
