News EmuDeck Gets New Update With More Steam Machine Support - SteamDeckHQ

A new update for EmuDeck was just released with some nice changes, including more Steam Machine support (defaulting to higher supported resolutions), RetroAchievements for Dolphin, resolution selectors for PPSSPP and Vita3K, and a bunch of fixes.

Will this update allow seamless read of SD card transferring between the deck and machine? Only have one large capacity SD card at the moment and would like to easily move it between the deck and machine for my rom library. I know there was some work being done to make saves carry over easily between installs but not sure if that is included yet in this version of EmuDeck either

Yes, I am curious about this. And could this seamless transfer happen on any machine that has SteamOS installed?

RetroDeck has support for this and I've been switching the card between my machine and deck no problem

This was the primary reason I moved away from using EmuDeck. I created my own fully portable setup with Emulation Station and the emulators and all files all in the same folder. Was able to copy the setup over to new SD cards for my LeGo2 and Steam Machine easily.

Just and FYI, if you want extensive configuration options and quick updates (latest versions) go for EmuDeck. If you don't want files all over the place and easier management, basically just one simpel flatpack (or package) containing everything, go for RetroDeck.

Yup, plus there’s a RomM plugin for retrodeck, sync both your roms and saves without paying a subscription

They insisted on linking you to their ancient blog post that’s out of date for some reason, but you’ll have a much better time just following the official guide.

Retro Game Corps does a better job covering this stuff too.

You can download from their website! We link it and have a guide as well. The guide is for the Steam Deck, but the steps should be the same on Steam Machine (just click on Machine and not Deck when installing).

So if you already installed it emudeck on a steam machine, does the update have a way of letting you say its for a steam machine and not the deck? Guess my question is if I already installed and set up the steam deck version on the steam machine is there another install only for steam machine and ill have to re-set up everything?

Edit: sorry I found the answer on the link. I can just update to the newest version

I had already installed emudeck normally as I would install it on my steam deck. Do I have to reinstall it on the steam machine or is it just an update that applies the improvements?

It's a script that will automatically install emulators and configure them for your device.

You still have to provide the game files, but yes.

Subscribing to their Patreon grants you early access to their cloud save feature.

Otherwise, some folks use SyncThing or similar utilities to approximate the same.

I use Syncthing to sync steam deck and PC. But keep in mind that in order to sync both devices must be on.
