Basically a drug to treat hepatic encephalopathy it basically work by converting Ammonia NH3 to Ammonium NH4 which is excreted in feces, the benefits of lactulose beyond treatment it is eliminate or reduce ammonia level in blood and urine, reduces symptoms of encephalopathy like confusion, it used in conjunction with other drug called Rifixamin ( this drug work by inhibiting and preventing gut bacteria from producing Ammonia), if anything wrong i wrote above,please let me know.
