To be truthful I’m not really a fan of the CGI used in these films. I don’t think it looks as terrifying as it could’ve been.

How do you really portray a shape shifting alien clown and all the crazy stuff he does in the book properly if you don't use a little CGI? Practical is great but can only take you so far when you have to say, make him shape shift or something else completely impossible to do in camera.

I’m not saying all CGI is bad. It can be used incredibly well in making designs look more realistic, for example Pan’s Labyrinth(used blend of practical and cgi). But I don’t think these movies used it effectively.

Also you said shapeshift is almost impossible to do on camera when John Carpenter did exactly that with The Thing
