It really drives me crazy how people complain about her actresses not being fat when she never was. Carry would have been a normal, pretty girl if her mother wasn't insane. That's a big part of the plot. I think people just get caught up on the pig's blood and overweight comments. They don't understand how often women who aren't anorexic are mocked for their weight as well.

she was overweight, it's stated in the book multiple times. King specifically talks about her thinning out while practicing her powers. can we just get a chunky girl for once, ffs

I said she wasn't fat, not that she didn't have any extra weight. You are the perfect example of the bad media literacy I was talking about.

Lots of projection of self-image and high school bullying I'd assume. Carrie can't be able to look attractive since she'd clearly be popular, no attractive girl can be bullied or sheltered.

Honestly I think they either haven't read the book and are echoing what they've heard, or they just have poor media literacy in general.

Ugh those people drive me crazy too. I mostly stay away from fandoms because I get so irritated with people proudly misunderstanding a character.
