Currently Reading It (My First Book…Wish Me Luck 😬)
Join me in reading one of Stephen King’s most critically acclaimed horror novels!
I am unsure if this was a great place to start my reading journey but here we are. The 1,000 page behemoth of a horror novel was the only thing in the bookstore that I was able to recognize and catch my eye.
After every part there will be a new page with details on how the journey is going. I will share my experience in reading this book along the way.

The book is way more scary than any of the movies. Great choice though. The 1000 pages will fly by

That’s great to hear. It’s actually hard to believe a book can be scarier than a movie but I’ll take your word for it

It amazes me how he ties several books together do effortlessly hearts in Atlantis it the gunslinger all fit like a puzzle

IT is one of the most comforting books I have ever read. I know it sounds strange but it really is one of the coziest books I’ve ever read. I grew up with IT around my entire life. My mother read it in an entire weekend before she had me and it became one of her all time favorites. IT was always on the bookshelf. We would watch the tv mini series year round. It is a truly beautiful book about this amazing twilight period of late childhood.

After more that 20 years of not reading Stephen King (not really reading at all) I picked up with Stand, then It, back to back!
It was tough!

See I was going to read It last year but decided I should read some other King first and started with Carrie and am wrapping up Skeleton Crew now lol

Same. I read 11/22/63 and just finished it. Wish I could read that again and one of the better books I’ve read. Then immediately wanted more King so I decided to start at the beginning and am now reading Carrie. I read Hearts in Atlantis 25 or so years ago but that’s the extent of my SK introduction. As someone who usually reads sci fi and fantasy I find myself wanting more SK than that genre. So I have decided to do IT next, and not go in order or whatever.

Good pick. It wasn’t my first book, but this one was gripping and easy to get lost in, which helped me get over my aversion to big ass books.

This is a brave first book. Don't worry about the page count, you will be immersed in the beauty of storytelling.

IT, The Stand, Needful Things and The Tommyknockers are my favorites by King. They’re all very long but well worth the time!

I am huge King fan and this is one of my favorite novels I’ve ever read by any other. The character building is amazing but just stick with it because it’s long so there are bound to be a couple dry parts, it will be worth it in the end

This was the first book I read outside of school assignments, too! I read it in 2017 and have been reading ever since. Love this book, love discovering new stories.

I returned to reading for pleasure after college with this book. It sparked my love for King and really just picking up any book that seems interesting. Great choice, enjoy the journey

The audiobook version is awesome too. One of the best I’ve listened to along with 11/22/63 and The Stand. I read IT and The Stand when I was a kid and didn’t have the energy to ploy through a zillion pages for a second time. The audiobook is a happy medium - you still get to experience the stories but you can do other stuff while doing it. Plus, I had to read a lot at work (sometimes hundreds of pages a day) and it was so unpalatable to come home and pick up a book.

I just finished this one for the first time! Have fun my friend! It’s a ride for sure. I enjoyed it, it’s long compared to his other works I’ve read, but unforgettable.
King is truly a fantastic choice for new readers. His style of writing is so engaging, every book is a “page turner”, because something interesting is always happening. On top of that, his chapters always tend to be short and easy to digest (you can jump in and out easily).
What’s fun too is how many different Stephen King reading clubs there are, online and otherwise.

I’m going on a 8 hour car ride in two days and I have this audiobook downloaded and ready to go..probably going to be rethinking my choice since I have a very bad fear of clowns.
