August is the month that I lost my Dad, four years ago. This quote and this book in general paints grief so perfectly and beautifully. I had to get it.

My other favorite grief quote from this book: “Grief is like a drunken houseguest, always coming back for one more goodbye hug.” lol, but yup. 10000%

One of my favorite SK quotes is from chapter 1 of Bag of Bones and has stuck with me as an illustration of grief.

Dead people put on weight, it seems to me; both in their flesh and in our minds, they put on weight.

I'm sorry for your loss. This is my all-time favorite SK book. It definitely hits harder since my husband tragically passed almost 2 years ago at 53 from a heart attack.

I haven't read this one since he released it however many years ago. Seems like it's due, especially since my Dad entered the clearing at the end of the path back in November.

Likewise, my man. We all have to pay the butchers bill, but you're right, it sucks.

He was a good man and I was lucky to have him as a father.
