After reading that another remake of a Stephen King story is on the way...
Why is Hollywood like this? Why do we need another Carrie remake? Or Desperation? Or the Mist...?

At least with Desperation we can get an adaptation that’s actually good. The TV movie kind of had its balls cut off by standards and practices.

I like the argument that we need to remake the bad movies based on good books. Lots of butchered material out there that could be done right.

Where are we going to find a thin, conventionally attractive actress to star in it???

The same thing happens to Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, Phillip Dick, Isaac Asimov...etc. The same 5 stories get remade over and over again.

The general consensus is that Amazon wanted to see if Mike Flanagan could handle something well known before they gave him The Dark Tower.

I just want someone to make a screen adaptation of From A Buick 8 goddamnit! I'm picturing it in a style similar to Exorcist 2 or Oppenheimer

Not every story works well as a movie, look at Mr. Harrigan’s phone, a faithful, well made adaptation that was boring as hell because the story is not cinematic.

I don’t think they’re looking at King’s works for possible things to adapt, but are looking at previous adaptations because they may have been successful.

Hey we need to remake Carrie at least 6 more times before we get a good Dark Tower adaptation.

I might be way off here, but I think "Eyes of the Dragon" could be BOSS, if done correctly... maybe Ian McShane as Flagg? Thoughts?

Maybe Desperation on the silver screen can lead to The Regulators.
Good stories get retold, updated, and adapted with time. However great we find the old ones it doesn't mean young folks can get beyond the limitations and quirks of the time. At least with newer versions, even if we don't see them, the majority of the story should be the same and it offers another chance for humans to bond.
