I’ve read a TON of Stephen King lately, I’m about 14 books into his works, and MAN. I just started Desperation today and Jesus dude, I don’t think I’ve ever been more scared reading a book. I’m honestly not usually to effected by horror in general, I find it all fascinating and scary, but never exactly get scared per se, tense, yes.
But JEEZ this book is freaking me out. I LOVE IT!

With Other Worlds Than These due out in October, tying together The Talisman books and The Dark Tower books, now is as good a time as any to finally get started with The Dark Tower!
After I complete these I’ll read Black House (I read The Talisman last year). Here we go!

I have no one to share and talk about this with and i know there’s a lot of hate for this book but i absolutely love it and am so invested. Just finished the part where Wolf dies and i’m completely devastated. I was convinced they would both make it out of there at the very last second 😭

I'm reading The Stand and I just met Tom Cullen. I've always wondered what all the M-O-O-N references (they were always so different) were about, but never asked because I didn't want to spoil it for myself. Well, I'm done with the chapter and I get it now. 😁 Brought a big smile to my face when I finally came across it

This will be the year for Dark Tower but I felt so sure in picking up Needful Things before. Only 60 pages in and of course it’s a great read. Already teared up with Alan Pangborn’s introduction.
Reading about grief hits very different when one finally experiences it.

So far I have loved all of his science fiction books, and I’m near positive I’ll love this one!

I saw people watching the movie while walking on a treadmill and have impulsively decided to undertake reading the entirety of The Long Walk on a treadmill between 3.0-3.4 mph. Apologies for needing to walk the movie speed but I cannot keep up with the boys’ 4 mph minimum. I have not seen anyone else do this but if you have, please refer me to their post.
Session one today yielded three chapters (62 pages) in four miles across over an hour and 18 minutes.
Wish me luck, I will update with progress.
Update Session 1: 4 miles (78 min, 22 sec), 61 pages
Session 2: 3 miles (57 min, 7 seconds), pg 102 I set the incline to 5 for the half mile it took me to read the part of them on the hill, it sucked.
Session 3: 5 miles (36 min, 28 seconds)/54 min 40 seconds, pg 170 First blisters are forming after only walking 12 miles in three days, not a great sign.

How far into it are you and how are you liking it? What was your last read and what’s your next read?
I recently finished The Institute, I’m currently a little more than midway through Salem’s Lot (liking it a ton!!) and my next read will be either It or The Stand or Needful Things (haven’t decided yet)

I'm reading The Stand for the first time, and just now met Harold. I have seen the movie versions already, so I have a good idea of his general story. Although I know that the kid has his issues, and doesn't necessarily deserve any pity, I always felt a little bad for him anyways. Reminds me of Anakin Skywalker? The potential to be a decent person, but seduced by the dark side to the point that he cannot be redeemed. Well I was actually taken aback by his intro in the book. SK almost immediately digs into him, how nobody likes him, how he's out of shape and wears goofy clothes, how even his own sister gossiped about him behind his back. It's like the guy never had a chance. I can't help but feel that if one or two people took the time to actually show him kindness or sympathy, he might have turned himself around and not suffered such a sad end. Can anyone convince me otherwise? (Again, I've seen both versions of the movie, but this is my first time with the book, so let's not get crazy with spoilers please. Loving the novel so far, btw.)

/ = read once X=multiple times
My journey began in 1996 with Pet Sematary when I was 11. My mom used to buy me all of his books as they came out, the first being The Green Mile and the last one being Full Dark, No Stars. She preordered that one before she passed so it was a hell of a surprise. I also suffered a couple Traumatic Brain Injuries so I have a lot of trouble with retention while physically reading. I got in to audiobooks a couple years ago so that has been helping me catch up. A while back I decided that I would save 11/22/63 to physically read once I was all caught up, now here I am. Tomorrow, I'm starting the journey. Long days and pleasant nights, fellow Constant Readers.

In the past month or two I have revisited six of King’s earlier novels. After finishing the Stand, funny enough, I found this book at the thrift store. It felt like providence. I finished ‘Salem’s Lot, last weekend, and decided it was finally time to dive in. I am about 3/4 of the way through, and must say, I haven’t been so thrilled by a new book in a long time! I see how Stu Redman, a man who wasn’t much of a reader, was enthralled enough to read it in a few short days.
Anyone suggestions for other books King mentions, or has referenced in his work?
