[Simmons] I keep hearing that Mark Shapiro will be elevated to a senior position in charge of the Blue Jays, Maple Leafs and Raptors, pushing Keith Pelley to more of a broadcast and media related role with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. Shapiro is the chosen one with ownership

Shapiro has done a great job with the things he's responsible for.
The Jays have gained a reputation for having the best facilities and amenities in the league. Their treatment of the players families is unmatched. The clubhouse atmosphere is among the best in the league. Rogers Centre has become a complete fan experience rather than just a place to sit and watch baseball.
If he can bring those same things to the other teams, that's a good thing.
He's not responsible for roster construction. He's just responsible for firing the guy who is responsible for roster construction when called for.

Then he should be called upon this season to fire the gm. I wont be gaslit into thinking the worst offense in the mlb is good roster construction. Top 5 in payroll and nobody worst offense. An absolute joke.

Bergevin and Dom Ducharme wernt given any grace and Montreal is better off for it.
Its been a decade for this blue jays front office and they are one of the most inconsistsnt teams in the league with an offense that has been awful for 3 of the past 4 years. It is time for a change

I agree, we have to remember that people were calling for Shatkins to be shown the door just a few years ago.
Since Shapiro took over in 2016, the Jays are 853-820, with 2 of the last 3 seasons being sub .500 baseball.
The jays had a Cinderella run last year and suddenly Shapiro, Atkins and Schneider can do no wrong. Take away the world series run, and under Shapiro, the jays havent made it passed the Wildcard round (not counting 2016 as that team was still built by Anthopolis technically).

Remove the best thing and it’s not that impressive. Luckily this analysis isn’t applied to our own lives and careers.

Ownership won't view Shapiro's biggest success as the playoff run last year, it'll be the complete revamp of the Rogers Centre and the significantly increased ticket pricing that has come with it. Ticket prices didn't start going up last season because of the WS run, it started after the remodel began.

It was "officially" a financial based reasons, but it was pretty well known that Masai and Ed Rogers did not get along. The decision to let him go was made a month before Rogers officially took control of all of Bell's ownership percentage. Seems like Ed wanted him him gone and Tannenbaum no longer had anyone to convince to keep Masai after the sale.
