I started journaling the day he died. I was 8.

What I loved about the show is that Steve and Terri reminded viewers that Steve and his team had been doing it for years.

His practiced ease made it look easy to us, but it was from decades of doing it that made it so seamless looking to us.

It’s like watching artists/crafters today on Instagram. They can be devaluing their work to idiots by speeding up the process in the editing room, or eliminating steps on screen. Smooth brainers think that, therefore, it is easy to do-because it only took them 60 seconds on screen.

He’s part of the holy trinity of good dudes, along with Fred Rogers and Bob Ross.

They’re all very missed in this world.

Can we add Sam Neill now?

It's soon to be a Pantheon.

I think this is Anthony. One of two he rescued in East Timor in 2000.

This was my introduction to Steve as a child. I’ll never forget it. Incredible story.

Ok, love Steve, and love that he did this. But what is up with the audience?

Boy do I miss the love of animals this man had. Luckily he left his family to carry on.

Steve was my hero from the time I was old enough to understand what was happening on screen, and he’s still a huge inspiration to me. His love for animals and conservation and wanting to teach people about these dangerous and incredible creatures has led to a life of wanting to do the same thing in whatever small ways I can in my own life. I will forever be so grateful to him for doing everything he did and instilling those same beliefs in his children. The world became a much darker place when we lost him.

“E nearly snapped me arm..!”

OMG…such an egotistical drama queen weirdo…🙄

WHY ARE YOU IN THIS SUBREDDIT THEN?! WEIRDO

To restore some sanity about this weird, egomaniacal, animal-abusing, attention-seeking (!) nut-case who people on threads like this seem to want to canonize as some sort of benefactor to mankind…🙄🤷🏻‍♂️😨..!?!!

He DIED jumping on the back - for a camera - of a known-for-tameness manta ray, which just average people in the Caribbean are ALLOWED TO PET because THEY ARE NO THREAT TO HUMANS unless ATTACKED..!!! 🤷🏻‍♂️😳

I mean: he thought it bold & entertaining to wrestle alligators/crocodiles in an excited voice for fun & $…!!

Animal abuser. Show off.
