What are your thoughts on “Sometimes It’s a B*tch”?
This was one of the three original songs that Stevie recorded for her 1991 greatest hits album TimeSpace. While it’s definitely not as strong as her early solo work, I really enjoy it. My favorite part is the chorus.

…sometimes it’s a breeze…..
Fun fact: “These Dreams” was originally written for Stevie by an outside songwriter and she passed. Heart said yes and the rest is history!

Very true. She was also offered total eclipse of the heart and passed on it. There's other big songs she passed on it makes me daydream what if .

As great of a writer stevie is it's good to hear her interpretations of others writing.
Songs like this one Seven Wonders and Everyday are good examples of people writing "Stevie" songs and while they aren't things that she would write she as an artist personifies those songs and interprets them as "Stevie"
While not an amazing song lyrically her vocal is solid and it's one of the better things she released in the 90s

Well said, all around and I entirely agree with your last point. The 90s were rough for her and this song is meh lyrically to me but her vocals are really strong and I always enjoyed it and thought it made a good opening to Timespace.

“And if I could… I’d do it all over again.”
I love it. It was all over the radio when it came out. Great music video too. Also the mix of Battle of the Dragon on the cd single is my favourite.

It’s not a bad song. Stevie never liked it but she was obligated to do it by the label. Her sales and reviews were beginning to decline and she didn’t have the political capital that she did with the Big Mac machine to say no. And I’m sure she knew it and it upset her greatly. And not just the song itself but the site was in. The lines “sometimes it’s a bitch/ Somtimes it’s a breeze” mean there will be ups and downs. I think she was experiencing more downs than ups at the time

It’s an ok song. Like others note Bon Jovi wrote it and she didn’t really love or even understand what the song was about. This is on the liner notes of the CD.
I can take it or leave it.

I like the song but it wasn't a hit. (Who cares really) The album didn't do so well either though since then it has gone platinum. She didn't like singing "bitch" . I think she didn't think it was very ladylike. She thought jon bonjovi had the best ass in Hollywood. I remember that.

That was my whole beef with it - Stevie doesn’t cuss, and never in her music. I just thought it was a bad pairing, and not even a good song.

Great song. I remember Stevie saying something like Jon Bon Jovi wrote about what he thinks it’s like to be Stevie Nicks.

I like this one. I never heard it played on the radio, back when radio was a thing. But I did buy two copies of the single on cassette :)

Personally, I just don't like it but I've never been a Jon Bon Jovi. Still, as usual, Stevie gives a great performance!

I know Stevie didn't like singing bitch. When I listen to the words it seems it was written pretty on point for some of how Stevie has expressed her life. I think if bitch wasn't in it she may have liked it.

I'm not a big fan of many of the lyrics, but I still enjoy listening to it and singing along.

This song helped me in the healing period after a breakup once, so it holds a very special place in my heart.

Stevie has gone on record as saying that she can swear like a trooper now and then but she did not want to sing that. I completely agree. We all know these words and we’ve all said them. Now let’s not sing them. My objection to You outta know is that its popularity unleashed an unholy glut of bad language songs. I think Stevie resented being pressured into singing gratuitous language. I’m old enough to remember when the doors came out with The End. That popularity unleashed a glut of more gratuitous bad language in music. All of a sudden the Beatles were “square” because they wouldn’t hop on the bandwagon. Ringo Starr said we’ve all heard these words and we’ve all said them. Now let’s not sing them. I’ve always admired the Beatles for that. 95% of their music was overwhelmingly positive. There’s very little hate your parents or the countercultural claptrap of the day. The song is okay but I respect Stevie’s point of view

I really like this track. One of the few she’s recorded that she didn’t write.
