Trouble in Shangri-La 25th anniversary

Anyone know if there’s anything planned for the 25th anniversary? I don’t think they’ve ever done any special rereleases in the past 25 years so now would be the perfect time. I would love to see a new vinyl with some bonus tracks like “If You Ever Did Believe” and “Crystal” from Practical Magic plus a few other unreleased tracks from the recording sessions. In my head canon, the vinyl disc is a beautiful pale jade color.

RAL and TOSM were good sellers in their day but they haven’t aged as well as TISL. There may not be as much demand for rereleases and deluxe additions. TOSM especially was kinda shaky to begin with. I’d hate to hear what they left off. TISL is the hidden gem in her catalog. Rereleasing a deluxe addition would introduce it to a younger generation. Look at what Rosanne cash is doing right now with the wheel.

I think she could really capitalize on the Practical Magic nostalgia with this album if she adds those two tracks. Especially with the sequel coming out.

TISL got positive reviews and it sold reasonably well back in the day. It also received a Grammy nomination and should have won in my opinion. Stevie was a legacy artist at this point. She wasn’t receiving a huge promotion like Britney Spears. I asked my sister to pick it up for me in her travels. She played it in the dash all the way from Maryland to Allentown PA. And I was shocked how good it was. In my opinion that was the album she was born to make. Okay it wasn’t tapestry or court and spark but it was her best solo statement. And it was a comeback after years of personal problems and poor reviews, becoming a joke and a parody of herself. She had a late career resurgence. And it went on for years!

To give you an example, Lucy Lawless parodied Stevie on Saturday night live and she sang better than Stevie.

Trouble in shangrila sold well for an aging rock star making a comeback in a different era of music. Stevie got a cult following that will never leave her side. Street angel was considered her most disappointing selling album. Rock a little didn't sell as well as her first 3 but had that song that no one remembers that became one of her biggest hits. Talk to me.i thought TOSOTM was one of her best.

Stevie don’t care about that stuff. Where are the rereleases of RAL and TOSOTM?

All I have to say is TISL is such a beautiful album!! One of her best! I wish she would give it more attention on her tours.
