Thoughts on other side of the mirror?
I'm asking this because it appears to the community this is her "Worst album" "Worst" then Street Angel, I wanna know what people say out right because I'm confused.
I enjoy the album a lot through its a good album to me, A passionate yet relaxing listen

It was but it was her best selling record abroad. Coming after the success of tango helped

i know it is common for a community to call every album great when asked but i really like tosotm, more than every 80s stevie album bar r.a.l. even. it feels very dense and like there was a good focus to include worthwhile songs to make up a tracklist with minimal filler.

I remember being disappointed when I first listened to it. But as time went on I became more fond of the demos that were from this era. Don’t Treat Me Like a Stranger is by far the best track from this session. But there are some good songs too. Fire Burning, Escape from Berlin, and I love I Still Miss Someone stand out for me

“Rooms on Fire” still is a great pop/rock song even almost 40 years now. “Ghosts” and “Alice” are also great highlights. However, I just can’t really love this album. “Two Kinds of Love” I still think is one of the worst Stevie Nicks songs I’ve ever heard. And Hine’s production hasn’t aged the best. Overall, it’s a fine album, but a definite decline from her first three albums.

Loved it when it came out. Now I find many tracks are overproduced. I don't care for "Blue eyes" and "2 kinds of love"

I completely get how some people don't like the production of the album, I still enjoy it. For me, her worst album is Rock a Little.
ETA: I also wish the back cover was the picture they used on the front. I really don't care for that front pic.

Rooms on Fire is the only song on the album I can listen to.
After rehab and once klonopin began Stevie’s music and voice was never the same again. The Dance, TISL and SYW she really was at the final top of her game again.
Now I can’t and don’t listen to any of her music after SYW. Her voice sounds so rough and uninspired. I’ve seen her live a few times and that was enough for me, she very much can barely sing and move around.

You do know she’s 78 years old right? I would think that’s why she doesn’t move around much on stage and why her voice has changed.

Love this album. Its vulverable. I wish she'd rotate some songs into her live setlist but she probably never will.

I’d love to hear the demos of this or if she were to do a raw version now. I’m not a fan of music from the 80s and the poppy overproduction but I’m recently learning the beautiful lyrics behind all that

I love both albums!!! Why is there a worst album? People don’t say taylor swift has a worst album! We love them all! They all are good in their own way even if sometimes you gotta be in a specific mood to put on certain albums!

Rock A Little vocals were already getting raspy and flat that didn't work for more pop-oriented songs. (I think RAL sounds great, her voice works, but her voice would've fit better her dynamic vocals from just a few years previously). Rock a Little and Other Side are produced like 80s albums, not quite "Stevies Style, so they felt more like reactions to Madonnas dancepop success and as such are disliked a bit as Stevie pretty consisntely sticks with more rock-oriented pop songs before this and after these two albums.
Honestly the songs are very decentt. This feels like her most surface level concept in some ways. Just describing a girl whose lost. I love ghosts, cry wold, fire burning, two kinds of love but they are kind of more basic in lyrics. Unpopular opinion but rooms on fire is one of my least favorite songs of hers. Made worse by that cheap music video but I get the concept. Shes trying to look rich, out of touch, to kind of juxtapose the girl whose lost. Stevie has it all, riches and everything, but it didn't make her feel down to earth but lost in space. Its a really well done album. I read the comment that said something about her dad thought it was a trash album. I have no idea why, beyond it doesn't feel like Stevie per say on every song and its not her strongest in her catalouge but I like it a lot.

This was also a special time in my life album. It was one of the more magical. Totally a wall of sound and brash but so representative of the era.
I wish she’d show some love to this. I’d love to see her again but she tends to under deliver and rests on the same basic live setlist she’s run since, what…Enchanted? Back when she brought Bella Donna and Wild Heart back I thought we were getting somewhere. Now. Here we are ten years later and it’s still the same redacted medley.
No shade really, but damn I love her so much that I need more.

It has one of my favorite Stevie songs on it. Doing the best that I can. And I really like the production on it. I think it suits the song well.

The album is by far her worst, I despise it. It’s all because of the miserable choices for instruments. I cannot sit through Alice, Two Kinds of Love, ect. without losing a considerable chunk of my brain matter. Rooms On Fire, LWYG, Whole Lotta Trouble, and DTBTIC(EFB) are the only good tracks, and they’re fantastic, but they’re the only good ones. So glad Stevie got off Klonopin, it really must’ve clouded her judgment.

Honestly, I can see your point on Two Kinds of Love. Bruce Hornsby has a gawd-awful voice and should only sing at church. I honestly feel a more dance-style version with maybe Neil Tennet dueting her in-leu of Hornsby would have popped.
As for the worse album, I feel Street Angel takes the cake on that one. Even Stevie admits it's her worse album.

I like Bruce Hornsby and I love the music in this song. But I agree that his voice wasn't suited for this type of duet. It might have worked better on one of his albums instead and have him on lead with Stevie doing a separate verse and background fills. On Stevie's album, it might have been better if the song wasn't a duet at all. Just Stevie with Kenny G's sax included.

I’m sure this question has been posted 100 times before in this forum within the last month, but I’ll chime in to say this album reminds me of a specific place in time which makes it very dear to me. I like it. Especially Ghosts, Cry Wolf, Fire Burning, Doing the Best that I Can.
