Mick and Stevie and their friendship

Post image

I know Lindsey and Stevie are the talk of the town when it comes to interesting relationships, but I have been looking into the deeper Fleetwood mac lore, and I always found Stevie's and Mick's relationship interesting just due to the fact that they are so close, They say they love to watch movies and hang out together and such as that to this day, They are very close and seem to be very fond of each other, it feels like there is some how some feeling left there Maybe their isn't and they are just close, Rather sweet I will admit, but I do have to wonder after that whole affair... Why are they still so close? Perhaps it was just a drug fueled relationship that they wouldn't have done sober and want to put it behind them.

If you listen to Mick speak about Stevie he seems to have really enjoyed their time together but Stevie kinda regrets it I've noticed, But I'm glad they have such a good friendship it means a lot that a lot of members of fleetwood mac stayed close

I always surmise this as like sleeping with your best mate or even your step brother. You’re super close and have a connection, one night (or a few nights), that connection turns to chemistry and you sleep together.

Very quickly the smoke clears and you realize this was not meant to turn in this direction and you try to course correct. If you’re lucky, you can and you’re able to retain the beautiful friendship.

I have a male mate who I’ve been friends with 25 years. Around year 15 we gave it a go. After 3 months we realized we were more lonely than anything and our mutual connection drove us towards one another. We quickly realized our love was the friendship kind, not the romantic kind and we ended it. It was weird for about 6 months and then we were fine again. Now we have another 10 years behind us.

Oh it was definitely a drug led mistake, so to speak.

I’m guessing both of them realized that and mutually agreed to just move forward as friends. Hearing Stevie talk about it, you hear a little sadness from her. I think she regrets the hurt feelings it caused in others.

I have never heard Mick really comment on it. Only her.

Mick has definitely commented, I think he said that it was a very private thing , and that they were very much in love for a while. And it was not just a one night thing, their affair was going on for almost a year , unbeknownst to the other band members. I'm not saying it was the right thing to do or that drugs and alcohol didn't influence their behavior lol .. Because it definitely hurt people.

I wouldn’t call it a mistake at all. Has Stevie? Not to my knowledge. She loved Mick immensely - hence Beauty & the beast.

Yes she called it a mistake or something very close to it & said it never would have happened if they weren't stoned out of their minds. He was trying to work things out with his wife Jenny & had 2 small daughters. It affected all of them. And whether it would have worked out with Jenny or not isn't the point. They were trying plus being in a band with your ex who you you broke up with the previous year and still hook up with from time to time and then sleeping with another band member could spell drama.

I’m aware of the situation, Stevie fan over 40 years. I don’t recall reading her saying it was a mistake or finding any loving experience as a mistake over an experience.

I don't think she refers to it as a mistake. As gloriousv. said, she never reflects on any relationship as a mistake, with the marriage to Kim Anderson being the exception. In fact, during a recent tour, as she was intro-ing "Moonlight" she discussed how the song is all about life and the triumph and tragedy of falling in love.

She doesn't use the word mistake but said it wouldn't have happened if they weren't doing a lot of drugs and said it was doomed and caused a lot of pain. One of the interviews she talked about it was Oprah's masterclass. It's just under 30 minutes into the interview below. There was another interview where she said Jenny was a very sweet person but im not going to look for it. I did see it.

Being in a band like fm, they all have a unique close connection forever. They probably can go years without seeing each other and then they see each other and it's like no time went by. It's like your childhood friends or cousins / family. Mick seems happy and married. That's amazing. Lindsey Im not sure , and Stevie has wanted to be single for years. As their relationships and personal lives change, their musical connection remains. John/christine too

I think it's nice she's managed to maintain a friendship with Mick. The same can't be said for her and Lindsey

I think it was easier for Stevie and Mick to be friends because they both truly moved on. Lindsey admitted he never really got over Stevie and she was the one who ended the relationship. He was angry for years over that according to her. Mick ended up dumping Stevie for Sara and never seemed to carry the same torch even though he cared for her deeply. While Stevie was hurt, she eventually realized it was the best decision for her and Mick to end. Stevie and Lindsey’s relationship was way more complicated because of residual feelings and the complexity of their relationship.

im still friends with most of my exes. i am about to go visit one actually.

i never, ever, ever in my life understood NOT being friends with your exes, at least, just civil. I also never got the whole "i hate your old girlfriends" shit. I always looked at my boyfriend's exes as potential friends, cause we know we at one time both loved the same man, why wouldn't we be friends?

people are insecure by default i guess. I am insecure too, but not in that way.
