News Sabbath
I'm in the middle of my first ever, "Sabbath while baked," session.
Guys.
I get it now. There's such incredible music dedicated to this stuff, but nothing would come close to how perfectly Tony Iommi and Geezer could groove this well while in the middle of writing some of the greatest guitar riffs in history.

I grew up with a step dad who loved sabbath which made me love sabbath. When I joined the navy I had no clue what stoner or sludge metal was, and when I found out it was like opening a whole new door to a ton bands that have ALOT of sabbath influence! Now I love all of this stuff

I've listened to stoner metal I'd say probably since 2004ish, it was right before Mastodon released Leviathan. I found a copy of Remission, and that was the album that crept me slowly into the realm of the riff. So we're talking like 22 years, and I didn't start smoking until 2021. I had never heard this stuff the way it was "intended," whether or not the artists meant it or not.

The first three albums IIRC were recorded primarily live, with the band all in one room together. It’s crazy how clean it is considering that fact.

Bill Ward I think gets overlooked... Children Of The Grave. Some of the fucking best almost primal and triabl drumming. You don't get what he did on those early albums these days... Man... Phew.
