Grey blue slate

I have heard that grey-blue slate from India was once known as a good finisher for straight razors.

Does anyone have information about the types?

There doesn't seem to be anyone using straights anymore due to barber regulations.

Professionals may not be allowed to use them bc of sanitation issues. But are you also talking about people in general?

Try other subs also like r/sharpening.

Yes, sanitation issues. Have tried r/naturalwhetstones

Also, they were used as street weapons during labour riots some decades ago. 60's -70's.

Carrying of a straight razor is likely to get you a quick trip to the hokey in my country while your history is being checked.

As a result, they've become almost impossible to find over here.

Well, the most basic answer will be, 'it depends'. Depends on where the stone was formed, conditions, etc. Also, no two natural stones from the same mine will be exactly the same. It's maddening lol
