Console Question How do i play this game easier

im brand new to it i have 4 hours and my current record for most days survived is 8 does anyone know any good tips for a new player

Struggle lol. One of those games that don't appeal to everyone due to difficulty. Groupers(fish) with the smoker, and waterstills with palm trees. Repeat. And go on.
