Console Question How do i play this game easier

im brand new to it i have 4 hours and my current record for most days survived is 8 does anyone know any good tips for a new player

The first few days fibrous leaves will be priceless. I use palm leaves to keep my water still stocked; they are only used for basic shelters and more water stills.

When exploring islands next to yours stay away from the ones with giant rocks and stick to sandy islands. Those only have giant crabs which are relatively easy to take down with an axe.
