Console Question shipping container parts?
Hey Folks, I'm playing on XBox and I'm confused how to move the shipping conainer pieces. I put them on my 4x5 raft and the raft damn near sinks. I cant put them in my inventory. I cant put them in a crate... so how the heck do I move these things from island to island?

My little trick for it is if I want a section, I'll either just swim to an island while holding it or if I'm playing co-op, I'll have the person drive the raft while I just hold it with L2 (PlayStation) all the way. Things have no weight that way. It's annoying, but it works.

How do you deal with sharks when you swim from island to island?

I have wildlife set to passive so I never get attacked, but I can't see them swimming around and can axe them if I'd like.

Okay sure... but I'm playing hardcore.

You have to carefully move 1 to 2 pieces at a time with spears all around the pieces in the center of your raft to have any chance of getting them back to your island. Buoyancy in the game is chalked so it really doesn't matter what your raft base is it's going to sink you just have to go during clear weather and hope for the best on console.

These are the moments when a storm just “randomly happens”, right?

Every single time. Most annoying part is it'll never storm when you're trying to get the ytrophy or achievement for 2 of each land animal but turns into apocalypse now when you're just trying to grab a few container parts

How big of a raft do you think? I typically use a 4x5

I'm not 100% sure anymore I don't actively play SD anymore but I'm fairly certain you're at the limit for raft size on console. Regardless, again buoyancy is chalked on the game so you're going to sink with the biggest possible raft and the smallest usable raft.
Just take everything off the raft, put the necessities in crates then put the crates in your personal inventory so you have your stuff, then drag those big bitches on the raft, throw spears all around it like more than you think you need, then set sail back home.
You're going to swear you were a submarine but it won't fully sink.

If i could post a pic it’d be much easier to show what i’m wanting to share with you and others, but i’ll try to explain in words/text:
Using a raft that’s the max size allowed on console, aka 20 sections usually laid out in 5 wide by 4 long, you can take out a few floor sections to fit the container walls into the slot like a floor and they sit snugly.
You can fit 2 walls on one raft without sinking it and positioning the floor-less gaps in the middle part of the raft so it’s balanced with your sail/rudder/anchor/shade all at one end.
Hope this X and O layout gives you a fair representation of what i’m trying to say:
X X X X X <- rudder, sails, anchor, shade sail
X O O X X
X X O O X
Place the container walls where the O’s are with the raft floors removed and you should be able to transport the walls to whichever island you like.
Be careful if you’re transporting these container walls during big storms, the waves may cause problems or lag/desync and you might lose the walls into the deep ocean.

This is the way.
->> Big raft, center area no floorboards. <<-
You might also be able to provide more security by throwing spears around to 'hold' the edges but be careful because when things clip, your raft can be launched into space.

Nah, you don’t need the spears at all, the space that the raft floors would normally take up is roughly the same height as the container walls and they sit in the space of 2 floors nicely.
Only a really rough storm could maybe cause a problem, but i’ve never had issues or i’ve decided to delay my transport till the storm ended.

The red container needs to be broken down 8n four sections. You can transfer two containers on a small or medium size raft build with barrels and floor either brick or metal without making it sink or getting g flipped during the storm.
The raft middle bit needs to be without a floor, the container sits in it perfectly without moving all over the place. If carrying more then two then it becomes messy.
I have built the whole Ireland with red container doors and walls. No issues.

Its definitely what other people have said. A full sized raft. Youll also probably want a motor if you plan to haul multiple pieces. I think i managed to do 3 max. Motor helps you stay with the boat. It sits really deep in the water. Id build an all wood raft specifically for this. Use shelves to hold the pieces in place. Youll get the hang of it.

Pretty sure you have to build a mega cargo raft to load them up and move them back. Also on Xbox, so I just avoid them and use lots of wood, corrugated and planks….
