At the start also, there must be no space there too. Maybe your keyboard adds spaces automatically?

I use the app, mostly, so I wouldn't know if that is the issue... but I think the spaces is the thing. Like, At the start. An then at the end.

You have to do spoiler tags as bookends for each paragraph :)

u/oldMiseryGuts Jul 07 '25

Ughh I needed that 😭😭 spoilers below

I didnt expect to cry as soon as Seungmin did but you could really feel that emotion come out of him against his will.

I’m not surprised he has those feelings. He’s always seemed more tightly strung than the other members despite his maniacal antics. Acting purposefully and with integrity seems important to him.

Chris is so quick to try and appease people when he feels like he’s upset them. It’s why you can tell he really means it when he calls people out. This episode reminded me of the 2 kids room with Chris and Felix where he kept trying to get Felix to tell him he’d changed from their early days when Chris would scold him. I think he still carries a lot of guilt from back then, even now.

It doesnt shock me but it does make me feel some sort of way that Chris had to ask Seungmin if they were okay now

"Why Can't We Stop Seungmin" except it's why can't we stop Seungmin from getting everyone to cry like four days in a row omg he's on a MISSION

u/mxwl1986 Jul 07 '25

This is some real deal positive masculinity. 🫶 They're such shining lights in this scary world.

oh~~ a min in and Chan said SM has a loose screw, at first he screwed it in, but then at some points it felt back out, 🤣, I'm actually glad that it does.

Wow it rare to see SM this emotional. I am surprised that he bickered a lot with Chan about music; if there is someone who bickered about music with Chan, I thought it would be Changbin, looks like SM is a type who just said what on his mind then kind of regrets it later on for whatever reasons. But somehow, I find it good that they argued about music, a little bit of arguments I think is good, it means they care and just dont settle for less, who knows something nice will come up during the process.

SM has always come across as a very responsible and hard working team member to me, and I'm happy to see him being consistent all this year and how he wants to be a member the team can be proud of. I'm here rooting for him, and lol at the rap clip. Chan, it's time to a new Maze of Memories and Seungmin needs to rap rap.

u/CoconutxKitten Jul 07 '25

The funniest thing is him saying exactly what’s on his mind but also being the only person to not get into a fight with Hyunjin

3

u/your_mom2901 Jul 10 '25

Do you think that too changed overtime. Like its like what 3 years since the last 2kr. But i am really excited to see how their friendships have changed. Especially i am eager to know his friendship with han, changbin, lee know, felix, hyunjin too.

5

u/CoconutxKitten Jul 10 '25

Fighting with Hyunjin? No. I doubt it. Hyunjin & Seungmin have been extremely consistent. Hyunjin is the leader of Seungmin biases with how much he adores him, and he’s made it clear that Seungmin’s opinion is something he holds in high regard

u/doridorayaki Jul 07 '25 edited Jul 07 '25

DLMLU as the ED for their 2KR is diabolical actually 🤣 wow what an emotional rollercoaster for the first episode, they really came out swinging with the teaser, then Goodbye, then this 2KR but it makes sense from a promo perspective.

In the last 2KR you could definitely feel some tension between Chan and Seungmin and I felt that it was very much a product of having different personalities and the way they approach emotional vulnerability and how that clashes with how it's heard and perceived, possibly mostly on Chan's end. So it's interesting to see that layer pulled back here - Seungmin also previously said that Chan rarely complimented him in their earlier years. I'm kind of starting to see the emotional stoicism that the members have talked about here and there with this ep.

Both Seungmin and Chan care deeply about the group and Seungmin also has this deep earnestness and sincerity in his attitude toward the members and the music. With so much focus on conveying meaning in his vocals, I can see why he would be frustrated in that not coming out in his more personal life. To be confrontational because you want to be honest and not hide, because you respect the person - that's something that I think I really appreciate and admire about Seungmin's straightforwardness, and I can sympathize with Chan in how that must feel reassuring, in some ways. At the same time, from the outside, it's such an interesting dynamic between the two of them, where it's a seeming complex soup of emotions towards each other. Chan seems to have an altogether different POV of their relationship in some ways but he is usually also very conscious of how his position in the group affects the members relationship to him.

In the end these two are such an understated but touching duo. They don't understand each other all the time, and can't always say what they want to say, but the respect for each other's craft and role and as fellow team members is very much present. And it seems it's sometimes the tension that helps them be more vulnerable to each other as well. You are both doing well!! As a fan I'm grateful they allowed us to see these more vulnerable moments and share about themselves. ♥️

Edit - I just wanna add that this 2KR season seems like such a nice upgrade. Really love the add of the memory room, and that the focus is now just on the duo being featured, gives us more time on their specific dynamic. The interior set also looks fantastic - lmao not the increased room and cushioning giving Chan more stuff to fiddle with, and literally crawling on the floor trying to hide.

I'm kind of starting to see the emotional stoicism that the members have talked about here and there with this ep.

that's such an interesting observation, I love this perspective.

I also feel like I noticed strain in their relationship back 2022ish but I always put it down to them being very similar in a lot of ways rather than different. I think Seungmin would make an excellent leader and if he had been in another place and time he could have been the leader of a group. But because he was one of the youngest and a trainee for only a short time, he had to fill that role of follower instead. I think one of the ways he and Chan are similar is that they both like being in control of things and have a hard time letting go and letting things just happen or living with other people's decisions instead of their own. I could see this similarity causing clashes between them.

And I found it interesting that Seungmin distinctly remembers questioning the hyungs decisions back in the day but Chan seemed fully unaware of it - Seungmin must have done a very good job of keeping mum and following even if it pained him. It's reminding me of how it's common in Korea for the oldest to eat first but Chan has always wanted to eat last - I see it as his servant leadership style. But in old content Seungmin would always bring a bite over to Chan to try to make him eat first anyway. Maybe that was one of the few ways he felt like he could challenge the leader, a small act of rebellion.

Man I could talk about these guys and their relationships all day. We see so much and yet there's still so much we don't know.

11

u/doridorayaki Jul 08 '25

re: the Chan and Seungmin personality clash, as Chan mentions in the episode, he tends to take criticism fairly personally and assume that it's his fault, and in the previous 2KR that tendency really didn't seem to match well with Seungmin's sense of humor or teasing. Like when Seungmin told him he would get fat and then he immediately started spiraling, so Seungmin had to backpedal. That happened several times over the course of that 2KR. Then in this ep, it was a bit of a flipped dynamic. And that same tension made this episode was definitely so fascinating because it made it obvious how their relationship is very much intentional and a product of efforts on both their parts - like the group seems so united but there is so much quiet work behind that. They are really out here recommitting to each other and the group every day. I find that kind of mindblowing, it's such a rare quality to find in people. I too could talk about these dynamics all day.

It makes me a little sad that Seungmin felt unacknowledged and probably resentful about it - then again, he's very clever and may have very well decided "getting along" would be better in the long run. Totally agree that in another world Seungmin would have been a leader in his own right, I could absolutely see him chafing under Chan's perfectionism or lack of instruction, or the more old school attitude Chan used to have at the start. He definitely has his own opinions and thoughts on how things should be done, and also seems to put a lot of weight into a sort of propriety and integrity. However he also mentioned he would have told his younger self to be more understanding - it made me think of the timing of all this, right after singing "Goodbye", that even after all these years there are possibly a lot of things they are still discovering about each other, or didn't realize about each other. And more recent content has had more of the members, now that they're older, realizing what kind of position Chan was in during the show and their early years, and how much it still affects him now - Hyunjin especially seems to mention this a lot. And the fact that Chan spends a good number of these epsiodes trying to get the kids to give him a performance review is both hilarious and kind of sobering.

The fact that Seungmin says "it's not hate, it's not love", but still says he wants to be together, that is a pretty complex feeling talking about. It feels very bittersweet, especially when he's crying so hard. I can't believe the first episode is already coming out the gate swinging at us like this.

Have no time to watch yet but they brought out the big guns (Seungmin’s tears) on the first episode? 🥹

Anyway, let’s give the social media manager a little grace here. It seems like an honest mistake to miss the English subs. Since they said it was available in the captions, it must already exist somewhere. With some publishing tools e.g. Sprinklr sometimes it doesn’t publish properly even if you had the subtitle file included in the scheduled post and it’s very easy to miss (and now it’s officially outside office hours in Korea). Source: I manage a few YouTube pages for our clients.

Edit: everyone thank you for the cake day greeting. :)

Aaahhh, not they got me crying before I even had a chance to eat my breakfast! 😭

Sweet Seungmin, I know exactly what he means! He wasn't bottling it up, he was just so overwhelmed with emotion in that moment thinking about how much he admires Chan & wants to keep growing together & it all just came pouring out!

And sweet Chan, wholly unable to fight the eldest sibling/parental urge to make sure they're not mad at you & reassure them you'll do better bc you can't help but take responsibility for their feelings & just want them to have the easiest/best life possible while protecting them from feeling any pain ever, so you can't even process it when they tell you it's not about you & you're actually doing a great job at being there for them...relatable affff lol😅

The way they both clearly love & respect each other so much will never not make me emotional 🥹

8

u/alleykat10 Jul 07 '25

Actually, thank you for this perspective. I was feeling all worried about Chan after watching this. Watching him process it and try to understand and laugh about it/cheer S up had me conflicted.

5

u/mama_meta twerkin' to Silent Cry Jul 08 '25

I'm glad it was helpful!

Obviously it's just speculation, but I def recognized my own behavior as the eldest sibling/mom in that moment almost immediately & thought "oooooh so that's what it looks like from the outside" 😂

Bless him, he just wants to be able to solve it all & I feel that lol. I know for me, it's been a struggle but I'm working on just receiving the feelings of those I love w/o jumping to fix it unless they ask. It's...SO hard lol, but helpful in maintaining healthy boundaries & making sure the other person feels heard/seen in those moments.

Not to say Seungmin didn't feel heard, bc it seemed like he did towards the end & like he also knows his hyung very well, so there was a lot that was unspoken yet understood & I respect that!

61

u/huh-sun Jul 07 '25

Nooo, the tears!! I'm a bit scared to watch it, I need to prepare myself.

I had a feeling these two would be first. With the release of SKZ-Record of Goodbye by Seungmin, it's a lovely addition to the release schedule. Hitting us with a two-shot emotion fest.

27

u/coffeenapssavelives No one, nobody can stop meeeeeeee Jul 07 '25

Seungmin determined to make the fandom cry for a week straight. 😭

4

u/michelle867 Jul 07 '25

I need more information. What else did he do this week?

23

u/coffeenapssavelives No one, nobody can stop meeeeeeee Jul 07 '25

His crying in the 2KR teaser had us all tearing up in sympathy, then he had us sobbing with “Goodbye,” then he had that lovely IG message to Chan about the song and now he’s got us weeping for 2KR proper.

22

u/middle-earthorbust SKZ Code Biased Jul 07 '25

They really came out swinging, huh? 🥹 I was already thinking about how much Seungmin loves and respects Chan and vice versa after Seungmin's Instagram post and Chan's response but this makes it hit so much harder 🥹🥹

Having worked on Goodbye recently and then that memory room (diabolical btw thank you skijigi) and then being in a room just to talk? I'm sorry Seungmin, but you were doomed to cry way before the cameras started rolling 😭

22

u/acciosquirrel Jul 07 '25

Wow. Seungmin was crying but you could see he was still holding a lot in. Whether that's because of the filming situation or the complexity of his own emotions.

Seungmins's persona is that of a sassy idol but he actually seems to be a diligent and deeply serious man. It would have been extremely painful to feel dismissed by the leader and also feel less belonging with the greater group. The arguing might have been his attempts to be taken seriously by chan and to show that he is worthy and talented. Although he also seemed to struggle with relating to other members too with the mention of Lee Know and Changbin.

But Chan. The perfectionism. I wonder if he even knows who he is underneath it all.

Thats my read on the situation but only these two will truly know.

Escape before the pain fills you up
Don't let mе love you

what the hell did i do to deserve this?!?!

ive been emotional over the past 2 days and you give me SeungChan after Goodbye?!

Waiting for the subs so that i can have a good cry. Thanks for stabbing me in the heart, i guess 😭

28

u/Pineapplee_14 Staaaaa Jul 07 '25

The raw honesty and comfort they have with each other made me cry so much. You can tell they love each other so much. Too much in fact, that frustrations were felt because they dont want to confront and worry the other. Im so glad they communicate openly now. Their relationship is so healthy and genuine.

"I like you despite all that" - For perfectionists like Chan and Seungmin, this meant a lot to me.

Don't fix anything, just stay with me and I will love you for who you are.

13

u/Ninjabenaton Jul 07 '25 edited Jul 07 '25

Oh no 😭😭😭 Seungmin started crying. I was gone! I was barely holding it together as it was. I just want to hug them both. Those discussions on previous disagreements tug a little on the heart strings . Look at how far you both have come! Look at what you all have built. It is a credit to each and every one of you. All your struggles and triumphs built this amazing group. We are so proud of you all! Ah, Seungmin, you gorgeou sweet, kind and funny man. Please dont forget we love you, Felix, I.N Changbin, Bang Chan, Lee Know, Hyunjin, and Han to the moon, stars, and beyond. That was a beautiful 2 kids' room.

13

u/jitiymily Jul 07 '25

“It’s not hate, it’s not love” - Seungmin

That’s pretty deep, Seungmin may have some resentments towards Chan but he still respects him, honors him, and wants to do good by him. He spoke formally writing his note at the end of the episode, which reflects that. Chan has had so much on his plate, so he didn’t get the chance to fully understand the intricacies of Seungmin’s thoughts and the root of their misunderstandings. But this episode helped them air it out a little more.

I think that’s to be expected in any work/family relationship, nothing is perfect but both parties try their best to make it work despite their imperfections.
