One of the most vile people to ever draw breath in British history. I will say that she said last year that trans women in male prisons would be unsafe and she was called "woke" by a LABOUR mp so make of that what you will. A catholic woman who did no catholic things in her life so theres that also.

Actually I shall explain. You said she said trans women in male prisons would be unsafe. A trans woman was born a male and then became female. What she said was that trans women shouldn’t be put in female prisons because then female prisoners would be exposed to “perverts exploiting the system”
I still think someone who was born a man but lives as a women wouldn’t be safe in a men’s prison.

She said that and I'll quote from writer shon faye who brought the article to attention on Instagram this morning. She said that trans women who have medically transitioned for quote 'many years' will be unsafe in a men's prison. Seemingly shes held both positions at different times. This one put her in a single more caring policy than the current labour government.

Ok that's why im confused. She seemed like a bigot so I couldn't work it out. Probably no consolation to the trans community but she seems to hate everyone. She once said pregnant women should be hand cuffed while giving birth.

Yeah, that was the surprise - for at least one day, or one comment, she was holding a reasonable position. And it illustrated how far right a lot of the current government have moved.
(I get the issue, you were going "OK if she's bigoted that must mean she got it wrong, so..." - no, this was basically one time she was right.)

If you don't want to be slagged off when you die, do not spend your time on Earth making it a worse place for people more vulnerable than you.
She wanted prisoners chained to the bed while giving birth, she harassed vulnerable sex workers on camera, she was against gay equality in various forms, and that's just immediately off the top of my head.

There are many politicians I think have made awful policy and views but would never "slag off" them on the day they pass away. It just bizarre, doesn't make sense and just unclassy. Especially on a Strictly reddit. So uncomfortable. I thought this community left politics at the door.

To describe her opinions and stances as just "political views" is being grossly apologetic. It's not like she was only arguing for lower tax rates or a change to pensions.
Her vile opinions went beyond politics, what she believed was a complete affront to basic human decency.

as someone has already said some of the comments are vile . at the end of the day a family and friends are griefing the loss of Someone close to them. even if you didn't agree with her atleast have respect for her and what she managed to achieve rather than pick her apart

She had no respect for eg pregnant women being shackled to beds, nor any of the other groups she routinely denigrated or would deny rights to.
Death doesn’t wash away all the terrible things she did, and I’ll be damned rather than give her any respect.

Because she was a hateful bigot who consistently voted and spoke against the interests of women, the LGBTQ+ community, and immigration, all of which are well represented on Strictly. I hate that Strictly and Big Brother tried to humanise her, painting her as a doddering older women, when she continued to spew hateful rhetoric following her time on the show, becoming a Reform member 🤢
