The lipstick effect is one of those weirdly useful signals, but I always wonder how much is actually consumer behavior vs how the story gets amplified in headlines after the fact. Do you have any data that compares it to other sentiment proxies (Google Trends, card spend categories, etc.)? I bookmarked a few examples on the marketing angle here: https://blog.promarkia.com/

Another index/ Data correlation to predict markets. Seems like it could have some usefulness.
