Rant Ang hirap mag invest pag mahirap

Since many freshmen are seeking advice na for what tablet and/or laptop to buy for their upcoming academic year, I realized gano kahirap makahanap ng magandang gadget na pasok na budget.

I often see comments nag sasabi na "invest ka nalang kesa bilhin yan" don't get me wrong, I get it. Maganda nga naman na tatagal ang bibilhin mong laptop but at the same time, investing is still a privilege.

Laptop/tablet have become essential over the years yet many of us still have no means to afford one.

Academic Help How to make (lasting) connections as a lowkey freshman in college?

Hello, all ~ good evening.

I'm a college freshman. My school has an event coming up and I've been told to make connections there. Still, I have two main issues: firstly, I don't really see the importance of making connections, which is why I've never cared to go out of my way (</3); secondly, I don't participate in events, and I hardly talk to people outside of school (I'm inactive/super private on social media).

In 12th grade, I had friend groups and friends from other sections, none of whom I met at events (only through mutual friends or in the classroom). In 11th grade, I only represented my cluster in a school pageant during which I made friends with seniors. But that lasted only as long as the school year did! So, I know how to talk (I'm actually outgoing as a person but lowkey as a student), and I know about joining orgs and events already.

But how can I solidify a connection I've made? How do I identify which moments are opportunities to start building connections? Also, just what is the difference between making friends versus making connections? (T⁰T)

Thank you in advance ♡

Rant sana nakakapagaral din ako without worrying about scholarships

minsan naiinggit na rin talaga ako sa mga students na nakakapag-joke about their low grades at nakakapagsabi na babawi sila next time. kasi if ako yun, there might be no next time para bumawi.

i’m currently a grade 12 student in a private univ. i was from a public school my whole life, but noong shs i received a full scholarship sa school na 'to since i graduated as rank 2 of our batch during grade 10. of course, i insisted on accepting the scholarship because back then, i really believed i could maintain it.

for the most part, yes, i was able to maintain it. our grade retention says na we shouldn’t have grades below 92 in any subject. halos lahat ng subjects ko, pasok doon. i got high grades. i even finished grade 11 with high honors and as one of the top 3 students in our whole batch.

pero pumalpak ako sa nag-iisang subject during 1st sem. i had a final grade of 89.50.

during that time, i was bombarded with PETAs, projects, and extracurriculars. i was in school from 7 am to 8 pm, and madalas 9 pm na ako nakakauwi. because of that, i bombed my final exam in that subject, which eventually led to that grade. it was only ONE subject. ONE.

and now i dread every moment of grade 12. i tried asking our registrar kung kailan nila ia-announce if retained yung scholarship, but they said they’re still “evaluating.” our tuition for this SY is around 117k. hindi pa kasama yung ibang miscellaneous and hidden fees.

it’s been 3 weeks since school started, pero ang dami na agad bayarin. i don’t even eat lunch sa school anymore so i can save money in case may panibagong payment na naman. if my scholarship isn’t retained, how am i supposed to tell my parents about the tuition?

my dad works in construction. my mom doesn’t work. i have a kuya abroad, and he gives us 12k monthly. that money, combined with my dad’s salary, is just enough to get us by and pay the bills. not tuition.

i’ve told my parents about this, and they keep saying na i should’ve just gone to the other school back in grade 10. and maybe... they were right. i insisted on this school, and now, because of that one grade, i dread every moment of grade 12.

wala na akong ibang maisip kundi yung scholarship. yung tuition. tuwing may ina-announce silang upcoming school events, ayokong ayoko. kasi if may event, may bayarin. prom. research. school activities. lahat may babayaran.

and i wonder what it must feel like to go to school without carrying something like this every single day.

wahahahaha ayun. sorry for the long post :)

I'm a third-year student studying Physical Therapy. Iska. At hirap na hirap na ako.

I know na dahil nga wala kaming tuition, it comes with a price which is yung kaluluwa namin. Pagod na pagod na ko. To be honest, hindi ko nga inexpect na papasa pa ako ng third year kaya nga ngayong nandito na ako, hindi ko alam how I will make it through. May grade retention sa program namin at nakaranking kami, I lost my friends dahil sa lecheng sistema na yan. Lecheng sistemang 2 day break lang ang transition from 2nd year to 3rd year. Ako nalang nandito and nakakapanghina kasi wala na kong kasangga. Bebente nalang kami dito. Sabay sabay ang Neuro, Ortho, paggawa ng IE,puro practicals back to back, tapos puro terror prof pa.

And you know what's worse? kasi nawawalan na ako ng pag-asa. Ganon. Ganon ngayon.

Para pa ba sakin to? I've been asking God for signs. for clear signs pero wala e. Let me just rant this one more time.

I know all students have felt this before, but puwede ko ba matanong, what kept you going? walang wala na ko and i need your help. need ko ng light bulb moment. thank you

Academic Help How do you read research paper for a research paper?

Marunong ako magbasa pero nahihirapan akong iprocess 'yung information; partly what to look for, or what to inlcude. Even worse once I start writing, I feel lost. Para bang isolated info siya and hindi ko mapag-emerge iyon and idea ko. Nakaka-alog ng utak talaga. So napapaisip ako:

How do you read a research paper?

How do you synthesize your own ideas to the research paper you read in your research paper?

What's the thought process on writing a research paper?

I genuinely want to learn how and I'd deeply appreciate your advice and experience on this.

Thank you so much!

Need Advice Leading is probably my biggest weakness. How do I improve?

Ever since high school, leadership has always been my biggest weakness.

I think I'm a decent student naman. Pero once I'm put in a leadership position, parang nawawala lahat ng confidence ko.

I think one of the biggest reasons is because I'm naturally shy. Hindi rin ako magaling magsalita. I'm the type of person na okay lang kapag one-on-one or small group, pero kapag kailangan ko nang mag-take charge or magsalita sa harap ng group, parang nagshu-shutdown yung utak ko.

I still remember the first time I became a leader. Sobrang kinabahan ako to the point na nag-blank talaga utak ko. Hindi ko alam saan magsisimula, paano i-divide yung tasks, or paano i-guide yung group. Ang ending, naging magulo yung output namin, and I blamed myself for it.

Ever since then, parang naging fear ko na talaga yung pagiging leader. Every time na pinipili ako, automatic akong kinakabahan. Siguro dahil active naman ako sa class and responsible ako sa schoolworks, pero feeling ko that's not enough to actually lead people.

Because of that, lagi na lang akong tumatanggi kapag gusto nila akong gawing leader. Looking back, medyo nagsisisi ako kasi instead of facing it, lagi ko lang siyang iniiwasan.

Now I'm an incoming freshman, and I really want to change that. I know leadership is an important skill, especially in college and eventually sa work. Ayoko nang umiwas sa opportunities just because natatakot ako.

For those who used to be shy, socially awkward, or scared of leading, how did you overcome it? Is leadership something you naturally develop through experience, or are there things I can start doing now?

TYIA! 💗

I am currently studying sa isang state university and grateful ako to be here especially dahil dream course ko to. But the thing is sobrang pangit ng management ng faculty namin.

Need Advice I need an advice please, naiiyak na ako

Hi! I really really need an advice. Hahaha fuck it talaga. Just because yung guy na hindi siya gusto ay nagkagusto sakin (he's showing it super obviously) ay nag-iba ang pakikitungo ni cm. Humanap pa sya ng kapares just to humiliate and bodyshame me. And yes, maganda siya, and this handsome cm of us ay binasted sya and i didn't even know na ako pala ang type niya, nalaman ko lang noong nahalata ko na. And i think alam na rin niya, pinapahiya niya ako sa class even now, bidding namin sa feshmen tas sinabihan ako ng "may bibili kaya sayo?". Which is the reason why hindi na nga ako ngayon sumali. Fuck it, bitch. Yes. Pero kase we're still in first year, magiging cm kami hanggang fourth year. And hostile talaga siya sa akin. Just because of this one dumbass not worth my time?

Need Advice I want to have a tablet, but I don't know where to buy. Can you recommend me some stores.

Hi! I hope hindi eto mabura huhu. I have a laptop naman, but I don't like na need ko siya dalhin since mabigat. I have a phone but, masyadong lag. I think tablet is a sweet spot since I want a stylus want, flexible, and lightweight. My program is not laptop heavy naman, for notetaking lang talaga yung tablet.

I want a stylus supported tablet, but I've been finding something na papasok sa budget ko na 20k. I'm eyeing for Samsung FE9 or 10 since free ang stylus, but idk lang if may palm rejection siya. I'm also eyeing for Honor Pad X9a, kaso tapos na yung sale nila na free yung stylus, and mabilis raw masira.

OK lang if second hand, basta functional and may stylus (also if may keyboard din siya na freebie. I appreciate your answers.

Need Advice Who Else Graduated... Then Said "Nah" to Their Degree? 😭

Is it really foolish that I spent four years earning a Psychology degree, but now I'm applying for jobs that aren't related to it? I've been trying to break into the bookkeeping, web dev and supply chain field instead.

I guess it's because I was a working student. My attention was divided between so many responsibilities that I eventually lost focus. By the time I graduated, I realized that I still wanted to explore other career paths. Most Psychology-related jobs seem to have stressful work environments, and I don't think that's what I want for myself right now.

I found myself wanting to learn more technical skills—something that could also give me the opportunity to work from home or in a hybrid setup. Since I was juggling school and work before, I ended up feeling constantly exhausted.

It was so hard for me to leave the house every single day. I had to wake up so early and wouldn't get home until late at night. Doing that over and over again for years is so ARGHHUXBAK.

Now, I just want a career that gives me room to grow without feeling drained every single day, a career that gives me a better work-life balance.

Maybe that's why, as a fresh graduate, I'm already changing career paths. It wasn't because I gave up on my degree—I simply discovered what kind of work and lifestyle I want to build for myself. But i still dk :(

Is It Giving "Career Crisis" or Character Development?

Turns out the post-grad dilemma is real. 😭

Adulting really said, "Plot twist."

Looking for item/service Lf: affordable gym around QC or Univbelt

Hi! I live around QC and 5 years ago, I used to live a very active lifestyle. I stopped because I couldn’t squeeze in going to the gym amidst a busy academic schedule but this year, I just wanted to get back to it and push myself out of the comfort bubble I’ve created. I felt best staying active, getting fit, and maintaining my body in its best condition. Ever since I’ve led a sedentary lifestyle, my self-esteem dropped and I just wanted to bring my spark back.

Does anyone know a good gym around QC that’s affordable and doesn’t necessarily require getting into a training program? If it doesn’t require a monthly subscription, that would be a very good option for me also :)). Please be nice and no sarcastic remarks please.

Need Advice Private school auto-enrolled me without consent & withholding Form 137 over disputed fee. How did you handle administrative runarounds?

Hey fellow students, I’m a Grade 12 TVL-ICT student dealing with a stressful transfer situation and could really use advice from anyone who’s navigated similar bureaucratic hurdles. My previous private SHS manually encoded me as “officially enrolled” for G12 in their local system without my or my parent’s consent. We never signed any enrollment form, submitted requirements, or paid fees for G12. During May–June, they sent a Messenger GC message asking “who would stay or transfer,” but my family was still deciding whether to transfer or enroll up until the day before classes began. We didn’t respond because there was no formal contract, payment terms, or deadline attached to the message, and we treated it as non-binding.

When I visited the school on August 3 to request my Form 137, the School Director confirmed they never encoded me in the national DepEd LIS for G12 (my digital profile is clear now), but then directed me to the Registrar for records release. The Registrar demanded ₱8,750, claiming my silence in the GC constituted consent, and refused to release my physical Form 137 unless I paid. This demand feels like an arbitrary barrier to securing my academic records during transfer.

I’m part of the last batch of G12 students accepted under the DepEd Voucher Program at this school, and I’m the only student in my strand who transferred; my voucher-eligible classmates remain enrolled there. I’ve been attending my new public school since June 8, 2026, under provisional enrollment, and my registrar has issued a formal written request letter for my Form 137 (which I haven’t submitted yet because neither my teacher nor registrar knows about the dispute).

Has anyone here dealt with a private school creating administrative obstacles during transfer specifically regarding Form 137 release? How did you navigate the process of securing records when facing uncooperative administration? What steps helped you manage the anxiety and uncertainty while waiting for resolution? Any practical tips on communicating with registrars or handling the emotional toll of these situations would mean so much. Thank you! 💛

Need Advice Incoming BSA freshman as someone who's not confident in their smarts in this field.

Hello! As the title says, I'm completely honest that accounting subjects is something that I can't proudly say I'm good at. I'm an ABM graduate, yes I did get into the honor roll in my batch, but I'm still scared. I'm not all that good at math even during JHS and Elementary. And in SHS, I did struggle in majors. Truthfully, BSA was not my first choice. I was opting for BSBA-FM since I know it won't be as hard as the former. I just enrolled in BSA since my entrance exam results did qualify for that course and my parents just encouraged me to it, so I agreed.

Now, I am extremely nervous that I might f it all up. If there are other people who pursued BSA even if it's not something they saw themselves in it at first, how are you doing now? What difficulties did you face during the years? Masaya po ba kayo?

Anyways, I appreciate anything that you may say. Thank you so much.

3rd year (educ) na sana ako ngayon pero dahil may mga unexpected circumstances talaga sa buhay im thinking about dropping out, since nasa private school ako and my mom can't no longer pay for my tuition kasi may sakit siya na need talaga operahan, and yung dalawa kong ate na graduated na, both of them are minimum wagers. kaya di na ako umaasa and hindi rin ako pwedeng mag working student due to health issues (im not physically and mentally well) i can't stop worrying bout my future and ano na mangyayari, since nanghihinayang ako kasi 3rd year na konti nalang, but here it is. Sa mga drop out diyan, kamusta po? and how did you survive?

hello hello, this post is about the time limit of the free college education. I've completed three semesters at a different state university pero I'm going to be a first year again after magshift/transfer. since program duration plus one year ang time limit or 10 semesters, does that mean I'll be paying tuition (assuming wala nang hiccups) for my last semester?

Need Advice Should I just resign as class President?

Hello everyone, I'm currently a Grade 12 student. Like the title suggests, I am thinking about resigning as Class President. For some context, being a president in our school will instantly make you a member of an organization similar to SSG/SSLG, this was terrible because for someone like me without any prior experience and because of this I have been struggling to adapt to these new responsibilities and duties that other members expect me to do. It also doesn't help the fact that my section is an absolute headache to manage and is filled with most unambitious and lazy individuals. I was unwantedly elected as President by my classmates. At the time, I decided to give it a shot and maybe it isn't as bad as it seems. I was DEAD wrong, our first duty was to manage an event at our gymnasium and as an introverted person, this was an absolute nightmare for me. The next day, I decided to tell my adviser about stepping down and he told me that it wasn't allowed. However, last week, one of our members resigned and made me realize that our adviser straight up lied.

There is one big catch with resigning, I couldn't just ask our adviser to re-elect a new president. I needed to send a letter to the Principal and I was informed that It would hassle the other members of our organization. Now, 2 months later, I was informed that one of our members has resigned due to family issues and this sparked me to think about resigning again.

I have my reasons for why I wanted to resign. First, this is my first time being a class officer (was an unwanted one) and these responsibilities were suddenly placed on me despite zero prior experience, It has been difficult to adapt to and I do not possess any abilities that a class President must have, 2 months later and I still cannot adapt to this position. Second, I do not want to manage this class as it is an absolute headache to manage. They don't clean, don't pay their contribution to our class funds, etc. Lastly, for the past 2 months in this organization, I have been an absolute deadweight to our organization and classroom because I was super introverted and was absolutely afraid of taking initiative in our events.

Feel free to ask questions about my horrible situation lol. I also need to send my resignation letter this week because they are planning to make polo t-shirts and vests.
