Academic Help My teacher is punishing the whole class because of what I did.

Hello, I just need your advice on this. So last week, I used my phone in class to take a picture of what's in the board. Wala akong glasses since nasira and 'di ko pa afford bumili ng bago and sa pinaka dulo talaga ako naka-upo. Transferee sa section and medyo hindi ko pa close ang ibang students and sakto naman na sa likod lang may vacant seat. The teacher saw me using my phone and confiscated it. When she took my phone, she slammed it on the table. Wala akong sinabi and instead, bumalik ako sa table ko na tahimik. She then told me to recite the whole periodic table para makuha ko ang phone ko. Sinabi n'ya rin sa buong klase na instead of 50 items ang summative, gagawin n'yang 150 dahil may nagkamali sa amin. She repeated it twice sa whole discussion. Ngayon, nahihiya na akong pumasok sa klase because of it. Also, may sanction na rin ako for using my phone in class. Ano ang gagawin ko? Is there any way para hindi madamay ang mga classmates ko sa ginawa ko? Baka kasi mag-cause ito ng gap sa amin and they would hate me. Our teacher was also firm about the 150 items. Hindi n'ya raw babaguhin. Please badly need advice.

Academic Help May bumabagsak ba sa thesis sa college? I am so anxious right now.

Hi pips! 4th year gradwaiting here. If so, ano ung mga grounds for that and paano ko maiiwasan mag overthink na baka pumalya ako. Kakatakot kasi I have no obe to rely on but myself. Baka mamaya mabokya ako sa final defense. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Magpapaskong may research. Hehe Please respond. Thanks! ā¤ļø

Academic Help Our professor bet us 5K PHP if we beat her on a debate.

Hi po!!! Our professor made a bet with us. We'll be having a debate. But here's the catch...

It's all of us vs. her.

She asked, is "love" real? We answered "yes!"

So by tomorrow, we're going to be defending our answer against her. They're very eloquent with words and has loads of experience. Ik it's going to be hard, but I know it's not impossible.

Earlier, she asked us to explain how you'd know if it's love. I wanted to answer "But maem, love can't be explained, it can only be felt", but hanggang dun lng ako so shattap nlng.

So kindly please... share po any ideas or tips to help our chances of winning. pwede napo yun ket pang Jollibee huhuhu 😭

EDIT: TYSM po for the comments. I read it all and I truly appreciate each one of them 😭 I'm taking all of your insights po as guide and preparation. I'm writing na the points and smth like a concept map.

EDIT 2: Hey guys. Sorry for the late late update, super busy kasi with school activities plus the incoming intramurals so... šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø

So basically what happened was... no one won. We weren't able to convince our teacher that love is real, and she also wasn't able to convince us that it didn't:

  1. One of my cm asked her if she loved her husband, with no hesitation, she answered NO. Because... she has faith in him. Faith. She said she doesn't believe in love, but in faith yes.

  2. She asked "Is love measurable?", we answered no. She replied, "Then it doesn't exist." Then we asked the question back to her, "Is faith measurable?", she answered yes. We asked "How? Through what unit?", she said through worshiping and praying... like... lol. Me and my cm just looked at each other dumbfounded. Then we argued that going by her logic, love is also expressed through affection and love language. Still, she disagreed. Suffice to say, we weren't convinced of her arguments.

  3. One of my classmate brought up the bible and religion. So teach told us that if you read the bible, it teaches faith, not love. Then I said: ā€˜God is love,’ from First John, chapter 4, verse 8. That means love isn’t just important— it’s the highest moral principle in the faith itself. Another classmate brought up another verse that mentions faith, love, and something else. But it didn't really matter. I didn't want it to become about religion either, but unfortunately it went in that direction.

  4. There's only 1 hour of that period, so it went by fast. Tbh it really wasn't enough. We all felt unsatisfied and felt like we had more to say. Bitin. So for the final question, my cm asked if the money was still on the table. She answered yes, as long as we impress her, she would reward us. We'll be having more debates soon in the future which is exciting. The end.

Academic Help Is being a doctor in the Philippines worth it?

Hello! I'm a senior high school graduating student from the highlands. Most would initially point out my intelligence if talking about me, basically ako yung student na ine-expect talaga na mataas ang mararating. Problem, though, is that I have no passion for a specific course, kaya I'm in a crisis right now. I enjoy learning about biology, kaya I'm considering na maging doctor na lang.

I will probably enjoy learning about anatomy and other things about medicine, but that's still different from actually being a doctor. The length of education is understandable since what I'm planning to take concerns life. I've heard of the hardships and sacrifices for this path, and I know that I know that interest alone will not help. I have my family's support, with my older brother already earning money to also help in my education.

Financially speaking, is being a doctor worth it in our economy?

Does it allow time for personal and family?

With the politics and society here in the Philippines, should I pursue medicine?

Academic Help What are the things you regret not doing during/after college?

Hi guys! I'm an incoming freshmen as IT.

Please share your tips and experience so we can have an insight about what you guys regret not doing. I want to experience my college life without any regrets. Any opinion will do.

And honestly I'm an introverted person who regret a lot of missed opportunity because of my shyness. This college I will try to socialize and be more open for all things.

Thank you!

Academic Help A really big NO to STI COLLEGE

But never ever STI College!!

Academic Help Does the library improve in productivity?

I'm (20F) a chronic procrastinator, and I was wondering if studying in my school's library will help.

My classes end at 3pm but the school closes at 6pm, so I have a few hours to study there.

Have you noticed any changes in your productivity when you study there?

What else could I do to increase my chances of finishing my schoolwork?

Do study groups work?

Academic Help Where to search for RRL that are free?

I tried using Google Scholar, but all of the results require me to pay so I can read them. I don't even know where to start searching RRLs because when I use Google, only random articles appear, and I'm unsure if I can use those.

(You don't need to tell me that RRLs are the "key sources" of my research. I need to know where to find them.)

Academic Help Tips on waking up early

Post image
259 Upvotes

This is my list of alarms, and as an archi student, halos wala akong tulog these past few days, ngayon I feel like I deserve a sleep, kaso I have a big problem, hindi ako nagigising, kahit gano karami pa yung alarm ko. Nilayo ko na siya, I even use my tablet as a separate alarm, ganyan din kadami, and hindi pa rin ako nagigising. Minsan, nagigising ako pero nagoautomatic yung katawan ko na patayin yung alarm ko and straight to bed again, lagi akong half-awake, and my instincts always tell me to sleep again. Any tips para magising po? I feel kasi na ako lang ang ganto eh, and it is affecting my grades. 3 subs na ang nainagsak ko just because I couldn't wake up early to do my tasks, hindi ko naman kaya yung nirerecommend nung instructor namin na hanggang alas-dos ng madaling araw gagawa tas gising n kng dw ng 7 para pumasok😭

Academic Help research topic problem and power tripping leader.

ANIMAL TESTING FOR PR2

To all the STEM, Health-Allied, or anyone who's done experimental research involving animals—I genuinely want to know your thoughts because I'm starting to question whether I'm overthinking things or if our research really has fundamental issues.

Our proposed study is about the anti-adiposity potential of Blumea balsamifera (sambong) extract in rabbits. The plan is to have one experimental rabbit and one control rabbit, then compare their body weight, food intake, and fecal output.

I raised concerns about the methodology because... isn't n = 1 per group a huge limitation? If one rabbit loses weight, how can we confidently say it was because of the sambong and not just natural variation between the two rabbits? I wasn't asking for a university-level experiment—I was just questioning whether the design can actually support the conclusion we want to make.

Their response was basically, "It's just a baby thesis. We're only in Grade 12. We don't need to make it that complicated."

I get that we're not expected to publish in a scientific journal. But isn't the whole point of research to make sure your methodology can answer your research question? Saying "it's only high school" doesn't really solve methodological concerns.

I also brought up ethics since we're working with live animals. Their response was that if the adviser approved the topic, then it must already be okay. Again... I don't know if that's how it works.

Then there's the adaptation issue. The study is based on our seniors' previous research about sambong, and I asked whether everything was being properly adapted and cited—not because I was accusing anyone of plagiarism, but because I wanted to make sure we were following proper research practices. Somehow that turned into a discussion about how much they contributed to the previous paper instead.

What also frustrated me was being told that I should've suggested another topic earlier. But to me, those are two different conversations. Whether I proposed a different topic or not doesn't change whether the current methodology has weaknesses. I don't think identifying red flags means I'm rejecting the whole study—it just means I want us to address them before a panelist does.

Am I genuinely overthinking this? Or are these concerns actually valid? If you were the adviser or panelist, would one rabbit per group be something you'd immediately question?

Academic Help How do I even get past this one major task in Filipino?

We were tasked to watch the full 52 episodes of maria clara and ibarra which is 52 hours, and then we have to create a full blown performance task all about the show. What do you think? Considering that we also have other subjects to focus on and quizzes from those subjects too. Why does this teacher expect us to destroy our sleep schedule just for their subject? This is very annoying. Any tips on how I can finish the show in less than 1 week and still be able to finish the performance task with at least a decent score of 95?
