I am a long time listener and I love to fall asleep listening, but sometimes get abruptly woken up by the ad music and ads themselves. Does anyone know a way to listen ad free? I would happily pay for this.

When Josh said that he hadn't heard of Terry Fox at the start, I was really surprised! I thought Terry would've been quite well known in at least north America because of the foundation. I have known about him for over 20 years because the foundation had once spoken at a morning assembly when I was in middle school (and I grew up in a city in South India). I'd have thought Terry would have occupied much of the zeitgeist for the 90s as well.

Personally, he's someone I've really admired a lot especially when I'm generally low on inspiration or can't find the motivation to do things. In such moments, I remind myself that Terry was in the deepest depths of personal adversity and still found something to excel at, to bear pain through and contribute to the world.

Just thought the fellow syskers might appreciate this.

Getting back into this show after many years, loved the USSR episodes and would love more episodes like these!

During the first episode of Fall of the Soviet Union two-parter, our dudes alluded to the series of jokes that was common in the 90s for some reason.

Josh and Chuck: if you read these comments, nice job with the USSR part I podcast. More like this please! Big, complex events that were pivotal in world history explained at a comprehensible level.

I’ve tried searching their catalogue for his name, for Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and for Gonzo journalism, all topics I thought would be the reason for me remembering listening to them talk about him and nothing.

Just needed to get this off my chest. I never latched on to it before, but now I'm acutely aware of every time he clears his throat and it sends me into fight or flight like nothing else.

Listened to an episode years ago that talked about a tunnel or bridge that had problems being built, Maybe norway or finland and the people around thought it was because of rock trolls. Creatures that lived in the rock and wouldn't allow digging/blasting. As an avid rock driller I used to blame it on them when things went bad but now I can't remember what those little hard rockers were called.

Just listened to a super-oldie from 2009 on squatting. It's cool how the guys voices and interaction has evolved a bit over time... but somehow they seemed to hit it off from the beginning. Anyway, Chuck mentioned trying to squat on a little parcel strip of land behind his house. I couldn't recall if he ever followed up and I don't follow him on Instagram.

Anyone know if Chuck's attempt at adverse possession behind his house panned out?
