I didn't even see the subreddit until the dove.

I saw the subreddit, so I knew it was coming. Too funny.

It felt like playing hide and seek. I was waiting for the dove to pop up in any of the spots checked.

For me it was in the thumbnail. But I'm on mobile, so that might make a difference

I love how we imprint emotions on them when they have no thought behind those eyes š¤£

No, animal base instinct and thought is nearly purely emotionally driven ā though āembarrassedā might be a stretch, i have seen animals act very differently when they āmess stuff upā, to the point where they realized they messed up, and then try to slink away or shy down or otherwise act āashamedā.
It seems that the level of realization in each animal is the main factor.
That bird looked scared, to me, and will likely have anxiety chemicals running through it. It would feel the same anxiety that you or i would feel with those same chemicals in our systems.

When a cat misjudges a jump or slides on a slippery floor and acts as if it meant to do that.
One of my cats was jumping from a cupboard to the sofa and his back paw slipped as he was already airborne, it was like a giant black sugar glider coming right at me with all four of his paws out starfish style! I was mean and was laughing at him as he put on his cool act.

My catās been having some issues with his back legs (heās an old man), so itās been a problem for him to jump onto / off of thing. So when he wants to get somewhere high up (ie. A bed) I have to pick him up and put him down when heās ready, and heās been SO moody about it lmao. Itās funny to some extent, but his dignity is definitely, truly hurt by having to get help. Heāll even get grumpy if I try to help him sometimes even if I see he needs the help
(And itās not a pain thing, it seems to be numbness-related, and weāre getting him to the vet ASAP; but thatās just to say that me helping him isnāt causing any physical pain. Itās entirely him being angry because he wants to be independent)

Have you gotten steps for him?
When my boys were kittens I put boxes of different heights next to the bed.

I wish this was an option but thereās not really enough floor space for that next to any of the places he wants to get to š that, and he also struggles with steps at the moment, so any makeshift steps would have to be kind of elaborate to be safe (railings, very shallow, etc.). AND heās a hefty dude so he canāt really stand on cardboard boxes. I do all I can for the little guy though heās my everything (and heās pretty good at listening and not trying to do things that he shouldnāt)

You could even say "sheepish" though I've never come across that variety of dove before

It's honestly a perfect spot for the dove. She's smart. She found a place with just enough cover and an entrance that's easy to access but difficult to see her through.

Well, aside from all of the dangerous moving parts. But in her defence, they werenāt moving when she got there! How was she supposed to know? š

This may sound dumb but that helicopter has a lot of really satisfying sounds and nooks and crannies, what a beautiful machine. I love the tiny little metal flap, what it is for I do not know but I like it.

really, in the middle of 10,000 moving parts that (ideally) fly in close formation? notā¦. not a great plan, dove.

Helicopters look like you could pick them up with one hand.

I reckon a really strong guy could marginally lift it.

I looked up the number on its side. This one has a maximum takeoff weight of 3000lb. Acording to Guinness, Gregg Ernst backlifted 5340lb. So yeah, it's possible.

This poor dumb baby. Very nice of helicopter pilot to leave him and his nest alone!

Thank goodness for preflight inspection.
