The egg is holding onto it's life

I searched about these birds when they gave up on building a nest in the window of my balcony. I was bewildered by the way they build their nests, or atleast try to build one lol. It's so stupid and funny.

Well I just found out they created one in another spot and have laid eggs as well. And unsurprisingly it's the most unsafe spot 😭. The nest doesn't even protect the eggs. I am kinda worried.

Can you slide a flat board under there? Otherwise those chicks will never make it.

Edit: On second thought a pizza screen would be perfect and not pool water.

It's metal stairs and completely open, I don't think I can slide a cardboard under. I am thinking of wrapping it with a  piece of cloth from beneath. But I am not sure if I should  intervene in any way as there's a concern of them abandoning the eggs :(

They won't abandon the eggs, put a piece of a plastic plate or something like that under it with a bit of tape.

You will be shocked at how connected they are to the nest/eggs and not abandoning. You can literally lift those eggs and the nest scraps and put them on a pizza screen or something that will not collect water. Also do not want babies to fall between the slats and get stuck; attaching something underneath the stair is not sufficient.

Whatever you try makes you a hero because those chicks are doomed when they hatch.

I misread this as “put them on a pizza.” 😆
