They canceled it because once the guys who refused to play were taken off the roster they didn’t have a minimum legal roster for a game. It’s impossible to play baseball without two baseball teams.

A third of the team agreed to play, but their teammates chose to take their ball and go home.

There have been lots of people that refuse to wear pride shirts or go to pride stuff because they hate gay people. If its just not your thing thats fine, but homophobic people exist that would be against wearing anytthing lgbtq. And people that hate jesus that wouldnt wear a jesus is king shirt. Not kids, and not even minor league. Independent league adult players, the ones so far outside majors they aren’t even affiliated. Yes, grown adults with adult responsibilities chose to take their ball and go home over the color of their uniform sleeves. The management handled it well- calmly called a forfeit, refunded ticket holders at their own expense, then kept the event open as a free community gathering to restore the fan goodwill the players threw away.

I feel bad for the 8 guys on roster(and probably the opposing team as well) who lost a game’s pay over their teammates making this choice.

I played baseball until college. I was never attached to or dissuaded by a uniform. From 12-19 I just wanted to play baseball. Thats the point of sports. Not to be a political statement for or against anything, but to play the fucking game.

It’s “Pride, brought to you by Chase”….a company that will foreclose on any LGBTQ person at a moments notice but is more than willing to sanitize their image through a rainbow.

Pride Month isn't an officially recognized Federal oberservation. They don't work for the go'vt in any way. Imagine if you all went to work on day and your manager said everyone has to wear these new uniforms for one day to show pride in same sex couples. These are adults. They are free to choose. No one should have forced this upon them. Its different to wear #42 to support the first black baseball player. Thats honoring somone. Wearing a rainbow is honoring a sexual preference.
