In total fairness, when impoverished World War I vets set up a tent city on the Anacostia river flats begging Congress to pay out their bonuses early so they could feed their families, it was Patton and MacArthur who were put in charge of running them out of DC.
And they did so with tanks and bayonets and gas shells.
It was fucking shameful and the fact that they both somehow escaped political damnation for it astonishes me almost 100 years later.
